Un des plus sublimes poèmes français mis en musique avec un génie sans pareille... et dans une interprétation inégalable

Stylistically, he is the epitome of a perfect stylistically accurate French musical style and sings this songs with an incredible attention to word and text. How lovely

I was in Antibes just before he died but before I discovered this wonderful voice. How I wish I had come across him earlier and had the chance to tell him how much he is still appreciated.

I was his house guest in Antibes, back in 1992. We had met at a master class he was giving in Salzburg (where I was an auditor, not a participant: I'm a cellist, not a singer).. He was a lovely, sensitive, rather vulnerable man. I had worshipped him ever since my discovery of his recording of the mélodies of Duparc. For me at least, he was the very incarnation of the mélodie française. I miss him.

Bons tempos.

I don't know how he sings that E -flat at the end so softly and delicately.

Because " chante " in our soul is like " love " : something simple and infinite.

and "chantera" (future) is like as love is dead.

This is the lower version btw (seems d major), it seems to me that this is one of the recordings he made later in life, because i remember listening to his recordings in which he sang in original tonality... But the case could be that the recording was a bit slowed down and hence it sounds lower. In any case, he always had that sweetness in acutes, even in piano... Bless his soul
