I have owned a Bosch dishwasher for the past 27 years. I have never had a problem with it -- it washes dishes superbly, and still runs like it is brand new. I cannot say that for Kitchenaid, as several of their products have broken down after only a few years. If I could afford to replace all my appliances with Bosch, I would instantly do it, but am now on a fixed income and cannot afford to. But I shall never stop praising the quality of my Bosch dishwasher.
I just installed a Kitchen Aid 604 for my wife today. She's so exciting! So far so good. We initially picked the 404 model and ended up with the 604 just because it has a "Pro Dry" feature.
Bosch dominated the market for years, but this generation of KitchenAid has caught up with Bosch's quality and performance. With that said, I personally prefer and recommend KitchenAid because the rack layout is superior, and I believe the fan assisted dry is also superior to Bosch's advanced drying technology.
Especially now they have a food soil sensor and if it senses the food soil on your dishes being tough, it will extend the wash time and add temperature to the water
We bought the Kitchenaid 604 for the top rack, and it seams to be working great, only drawback is not putting plastic in the bottom rack if using the pro dry.
I have the Kitchen Aid KDFM404KPS, and although I do like it because of the freeflex top rack. One thing I don't like is the intensity of the spray action during the wash cycle. The spray action remains the same throughout. Dosen't matter what cycle you choose. As a result, heavily soiled dishes may not entirely clean well without pre-rinsing. My LG dishwasher had the capability of changing its wash algorithm from soft to intense spray depending on the level of soil in the water. The feature proved very effective and is similar to the Bosch dishwasher shown here.
Kitchen Aid is better than Bosch. Especially now they have a food soil sensor and if it senses the food soil on your dishes being tough, it will extend the wash time and add temperature to the water. I know people who bought Bosch and they really regret it. My Kitchen Aid is the best dishwasher I ever had.
Ah...... no. I've owned a KitchenAid since 2018. The ONLY requirement anybody should have when buying an appliance is RELIABILITY. I understand women focus on how it looks but you have to actually do your homework before making a major purchase.
We wanted a Bosch 300 with front controls but could for our new house that we just moved into. We went with the KitchenAid KTDM404 as it was in stock. I would prefer outside controls and pocket handle but the KitchenAid - no complaints so far.
I get irritated when people focus on the sound level. It's a machine! The only thing you should be focusing on is reliability since the majority of dishwashers can't get past 2-3 years without breaking. From all reports, Bosch should last at least 10 years!
These manufacturers really learned how to manage customer expectations. My last Frigidaire dishwasher lasted me 20 years without single failure. I read here that people rarely get 10 years nowadays...interior light, wifi no wonder these things do not last...
My Frigidaire Quiteclean I is going on 26 years, this is what the builder put in our home when it was built. I was thinking of a Bosch, but now I have to get an election to put in a receptacle because Bosch does not do a hard wire in has a plug
@@paulrobilotti9294 Bosch has a cheap junction box that you hard wire to. It's 20 bucks and included with most all installations. No receptacle needed but you should have an extra to share with your garbage disposal anyway.
We replaced our dishwasher about a year and a half ago. We really wanted a Bosch, but none were to be found in the Chattanooga area. We ended up with a Kitchen-aid KDF204KPS. We really like it, but we have had two problems. One you must keep the filters clean, and it is so quite many times I have Opened the door while it is running.
Call my family Bosch loyalists. Between us we have 5 of them, 1 from 2000, 2 from 2010, 1 from 2012,, 1 this year to replace a 6 month old Frigidaire which made dishes dirtier than when they went in. All of them are still going strong. No regrets about them other than the Obama-Era ones which lacked the Rinse/Hold function. The only KItchenAid I used was growing up, a 1970s KitchtenAid by Hobart. Nowhere near as quiet as today's, but it cleaned fantastically.
I love Kitchenaid Dishwashers. They have always been reliable and performed great. I will agree that the newest model doesn't dry as well as older models.
We have the Kitchenaid and the third rack does not clean well. The rotating spray arm just doesn't pump water at a strong enough force. What is outstanding is the ability to load different shapes of bowls very well.
My experience with KitchenAid is exactly the reason I'm now buying a Bosch. KitchenAid leaks after a few years and the spray holes in the spray arms get clogged VERY easily.
Especially now they have a food soil sensor and if it senses the food soil on your dishes being tough, it will extend the wash time and add temperature to the water
they all do if you rinse your dishes off before putting them in dishwasher. loading up food on your dishes and putting it in your dishwasher is so gross
We have the Bosch 800 with Crystal Dry. It works very well. I hate DW that stick out so definitely Bosch for me. I do not like the racks as much. It is hard to fit lots of bowls and bulky casserole dishes or pans. European brands put the tines too close on the bottom rack. The top silverware rack is weird too. There are a lot of too short nubs that don't do anything. I have an Asko elsewhere and the silverware rack is better.
My Bosch is 4 years old and it just threw a e07 error code which is the zeolite fan motor. It’s a$500+ repair. I take very good care of my Bosch and I’m not happy about having such an expensive failure so soon.
Both will get your dishes clean and both use condensation drying. They advertise how well this new condensation type drying dries dishes, but my son's family had the Bosch 800, which I forget what they call it, but it's a brand new type of drying, well, even their dishes come out damp. You decide if it's worth it to you, but the Kitchenaid 400, 200, and 100 series, has the heating element on the bottom of the tub so your dishes come out really dry. With the Bosch, there is only condensation type drying on all models. Yes, you can put plastics on the bottom rack with all the Bosch, but, who cares, when all the dishes, including the plastics, come out damp, not dry.
Kitchen Aids don’t last long. Hope that helps. They do get your dishes dry unlike the other dishwashers, including plastic dishes. But you will get a good 4 years of good cleaning and that’s it!
Wife likes it. Gives more wash options and on the Bosch you can tell it to wash a spot better if there is something large or very dirty. If you don’t want to use it it works fine with just standard controls.
Wow. Bosch 800 is what I was want. But, man expensive at $1300 bucks. But, $1300 ÷ 10 years = $130/yr or little over $10 month. Not so bad after all...

Do NOT get Bosch 800 Series. I'm replacing that overpriced piece of junk with a KitchenAid. The 800 Series has a E-15 error that the repairman said is due to the Crystal Dry feature. It will continue over and over again and unless you know how to repair appliances - you'll will be calling in for service frequently. The repairman for the local appliance store which sold us the unit said the series needs to be discontinued because it is a known problem that has no reliable solution.
