I don't think we need a full overhaul, I don't think we're far off being a good quality squad. I'd much rather us spend (say £10million) on bringing back Potts, Ward-Prowse and Aguerd, then spend £15m - £20m on players we then have to negotiate with. I'd also be happy with us bringing Marshall back to play second fiddle to a new striker. Especially with Bowen, Antonio and now Fullkrug out. Allows us to let some of the players wanting out, out, such as Alverez, Emerson, and Guido. I think we'll pick up Chilwell on an 18 month loan deal, allowing us to cash in on Emerson. Chilwell and Scarles would be a good pair on the left. On the right, I'd be happy to continue with AWB and Coufal, whilst assessing the best academy option. On Fullkrüg; there’s a saying in American Football, “Your best ability is availability”. I like him as a guy and a player, good underdog vibe about him but I don’t see anything other than sporadic 1 or 2 game appearances in between lengthy times out. Shades of Yarmo about him imo.
The highlight for me was seeing scarles starting at left back. If that was Loppy we would have had ob1 at left back and coufal at right back. We need to play people in their natural positions, so Somerville on the right was disappointing...although he had a good game. Would have liked Guilherme on for Fulkrug instead of Ings, but all in all, a better game.
We need to remember that Villa are a well organised team with some very good players and we contained them for a lot of the game on their turf while celebrating 150th anniversary- all things considered I thought the dynamics changed with our two injuries A few purchases this window - get our inured players back into action then I think we have a good few reasons to be optimistic - which I am COYI ⚒⚒⚒
@@seanmwh great shout! Would be good to see him integrated, especially if Potter’s system does end up requiring more defenders to rotate. I think Scarles showed he should be involved moving forward
Now Potter is in, loads of our youth academy are gonna be very motivated to show what they can do. Scarles is the first but I wouldn't be suprised to see a few more given chances to prove themselves in the second half of the season
Lived in Brazil twice and attended many top flight games there. I'm done with Paquetá. His excessive "malandrismo" is not suitable for the Premier League. Probably OK for Ligue 1 in France, though.
It has been clear our squad isn't good enough and if we don't bring in a couple we will struggle and COULD slip down the league looking over our shoulder.
Summerville excites me. Give Guilherme the game time he craves. We need two decent strikers asap, even if it's a half season loan deal and whatever the cost. We won't see Antonio in a Hammers shirt again as he won't regain fitness at 35 to extend his deal. Will Aguerd come back? Even though he had mixed fortunes before. Ward-Prowse is a tidy player who would still be a valuable squad member. The young players like Scarles should come in as needed. It's not a time to address the longer term issues..... Get the team up into the top half - 8th or 9th for the final placing, then build for next season. That's all there is to play for now.
We need 3 players as a priority this month. Ultimately more but finances will dictate. Striker, athletic midfielder and a centre back. The rest can wait until the summer.
Look, Villa are a Champions League team and we have them a right old game on their manor. Result almost irrelevant. Performance already better. That means a lot , a hell of a lot, considering the time frame. We'll finish around 11th, instead of around 14th . All eyes on next season though. This one's completely over. Be brave and be bold in this.
Against Fulham I would put kudus up top and bring Orford into the attacking midfield role! That is a lot better to be than playing with 10 men with Ings up top!
It is now obvious why we tried to Buy Maguire last year. Good fitness record, England regular, good defender good organiser, still holding down a place at united. Considering the money we spent of defenders since we could have paid the bonus he tried to get from United and still been quids in. There are certain signings that are pivotal and if you don't get then you spend endless time and money trying to fill the hole. Steitden is supposed to be getting deals over the line, he needs to up his game. The story is similar with Duran. Pay the extra and forget about it. Now we are still looking for a striker having spent money on Fulkrug. We have been missing out on Key transfers for years, Eze and Lingard also spring to mind. If we had done one of the of those deals we might have won the Europa league. Or remember the shower we brought in after Payet's first season. If you trust the coach and he wants a key player get him in. I'm not sure about Potter but we need to back him on his key signings, none of this small change mentality.
Can I say this. I'm no fan of Everton or infact the city of Liverpool but Why would anyone give Moyes a job again? It's not like they don't know what he's all about. Good luck Graham Potter quite a positive start.
What is Everton's ambition this season? Playing nice football is bottom of the list, they just have to finish 17th. Moyes is entirely capable of doing that.
@@harry2bells They didn't think so - you are probably right but we have no idea what the atmosphere is like there, new owners panicking about moving to a new stadium to play Wycombe and Oxford in the Championship.
@@Veaseify I have Developed a real dislike for Moyes. Not totally irrational given his personality. I'd like to see them drop but I rarely get what I want in the mad world of Football!!
Great first half, players worked for each other was nice to see it, we lost two big players early doors and ings didnt have the legs up top to relieve pressure so they kicked on second half, positives are there though, hope he can bring in one r two in the window ⚒️
I'm reserving judgment on Mr Potter until he has had time to do some work with the players. It was a blow to loose Fullkrug and then Cree in the match, as you say we lost focal point and energy after that. On top of Bowen and Mikey it's a real suckered punch. Scarles did well overall, I think he put a shift in, made some good moves and didn't look totally outclassed by Villas attack. I hope he continues to get decent playing time. Most of your player comments made sense to me. The bit I am concerned with isn't so much Potter but those above him. We need some players now and the time for the window is ticking by ever faster. Potter can only be as good as the worst player in the squad, and there seems to be a competition for that accolade. 🤔
@claudiushempstead9893 That's a good point. Brooking always made it look like he had time because he read a game and situations so well. We really need a TB or Devo at the mo.
Can we bring Callum Marshall back? Surely he'll be a good option for us now. Agree with your Ings take. Penalty box striker who had two chances in the penalty box and missed them both
Paqueta needs the Hartson Berkovic treatment when he starts his theatrical histrionics but I commend him for stopping play last night when he did, it looked like a serious injury they way his leg twisted. I hope we can get some players in soon, but I'm still looking forward to the Fulham game with optimism.
It’s not that we need a rebuild - it’s that the size and scope of the rebuild that we needed in the summer was so vast that we couldn’t do it in one window, despite signing so many players. Moyes left a small, aging squad behind, and we also had several players leave.
I think Ferguson is a good young striker that would suit us, but he's missed more games through injury than Fullkrug over the last 4 years. Perhaps we need to look elsewhere
An excellent analysis of the team particularly in regard to Paqueta and Fullkrug. I hope they can both make a contribution in future but the jury's out.
I think we have to take into consideration the ability of the coaching staff to improve players. And all the players knowing what is expected of them at all times. If it is clear as almost like a business plan that they buy into, then if they don’t play ball they know the consequences.
We have a great set of players that can become better under the right guidance. Though the one aspect that stands out to me, was how easily we give the possession away. There's no excuses when you lose control of the ball from your own free-kicks & throw-in's and infact, you should always try to make them situations count. But when you see players fumbling the ball & being easily tackled or the passes are not finding there intended targets, then that only means one thing...........The players are getting knackered! Always been a problem at WHU but when you see players dropping like flies, then it's something that needs addressing. We were the better team for 50 min's, needs to be 90!
Any team in any league will suffer when the best player goes off. Summevilles energy on the night inspired other players. Then we lose a striker who is finally match fit and putting himself about too. Although we lost I also thought we were robbed by the ridiculous 'corner'. The saying 'Calm seas dont make good sailors' is true. A win could've possibly painted over the cracks. GP will get us going but patience is needed.
Fullkrug, Carroll, Scamacca, Haller, Zaza, Ings, Hugill, McCarthy, Vlasic, Calleri, Ayew, Hernandez and more. There have been some jewels but not nearly as many as there have been duds.
We need a sweeper keeper, another centre back, an Alvarez of old or a new version of Alvarez, a dynamic box to box mid field player, & a younger faster striker as a minimum in the window ideally. There is still some dead wood to go in the summer probably 3 or 4 players out as well.
Potter definitely has work to do to get us back on track. I hope he has brought his scouts that he used when he was at Brighton. To be honest I think he will be a great success. As long as we finish above Man U I will be happy!!
I agree with you about the keepers, I think they're decent but from a distribution point of view neither of them are up to it, I'll be honest I don't think things are as bad as you think, judging by the first half, he's had two days to sort that out, imagine what it will be like after a couple of weeks, ollie scarles..... top notch, Under loppy our major problem was not putting in the yards, Re Alvarez, remember Xabi Alonso rates him, he can't be all bad,it's the way he's used, I think harry will sort that out. i actually don't think that there is anybody in the squad who is irredeemable in a kalvin phillips / carlos sanchez kind of way
We do have some aging players that need replacing and some that we should never have bought in the first place, i.e. Ings and Fullkrug. However, if we do start easing some of these youngsters in they will not have the stamina for a full 90, and will need subbing in the second half. Where are these subs gonna come from?
Potter has a reputation for getting the best out of players - I think he did it with Danny Welbeck at Brighton so, Danny Ings anyone? Also would like to see JWP back as Potter would know how to utilise him properly. Squad need additions but I guess Sullivan will be wary about opening up his purse strings too wide. Squad fitness also needs a boost.
Every summer I hear that we need a rebuild or an overhaul, we don’t need them in January too! We have 8-9 players capable of starting & 7-8 squad players, we need to change 3-5 each year to keep things fresh that’s all…
Aside from a striker, I don’t think we NEED anything in January. Let Potter treat the next few months as a time to learn about the squad & make the changes in the summer…this season sadly, is a write off already
Here are my list that don't cut the mustard. Coufal.Alvarez. Ings. Rodriguez. Soler and Souchek. I like the rumour of Dewsbury Hall being linked to us because he's a footballing midfielder who can make things happen unlike any of our midfield. We need two more centrebacks, a pacey skillful striker and more youth chances for our academy boys.
Loving the ai thumbnails btw, great for you guys cause they are low effort but they are also comedically absurd. A win win for this channel, just need one of gonzo walking his new puppy but its a dog shaped human. Ill be waiting
Hiya gonzo mate I hope you're all good and totally agree with everything you said. Potter looked really good so did the team fulkrug getting injured we was waiting to happen and ings showed his terrible so sullivan needs to gift us a striker and another centre back unless we get luizal into the team with paqueta and guilherme get a Brazilian connection going on and really we could use orford his a great talent waiting shame we had to let mubuma go. The puppies we had 9 but 1 didn't make it sadly
Hopefully in this window he can get the legs in midfield and now definitely a Striker . Our Academy must be doing cartwheels. We don’t have the money without selling to cover all the issues well documented. I believe he will trust our youth if good enough with experienced support around them . The two injuries changed our attacking threat . They seemed to step up for 20mins when we got tired and had nothing to rectify the issue on the bench . Ing’s will probably start against Fulham and try and prove he is worth keeping. Or play Kudus as Striker he has played there for his previous club .
If no money is available in transfer window for new players then we must under all circumstances look at players available on loan even if it is just to get us through till the end of the season we cannot carry on as a skeleton squad after all any option is better than no option at all which is where we are especially in the striker department.
We have to face it we have a handful of good players some bang average some past it a couple of key injuries were stuffed. Thing is it’s the managers job to try to do what he can with what’s there but there’s no turning this shambles round quickly whoever you are.
I hope we dont lose kudus and summerville bowen we not gunna lose him but more decent player would be great would look forward to this end of the season tbh
Really potter is blessed to have the academy. Needing a left back, we have Ollie Scarles, definitely need a centre back we have Mayers and Casey, need a midfielder Lewis Orford the best midfielder for his age group and need a attacker Adiele or Ajala, even Sowumni
Our academy has been strong for a few years now but last two managers scared to use them. Players like Orford, Casey, Potts, Kodua, Rigge, Earthy, Fawunmi, Marshall, Moore could potentially get a chance just like Scarles and if they can take that opportunity then that means the best young players will want to comd to our academy because there is a genuine pathway
It's intriguing to see what Potter does with some of these players. Really want to see some youth development; bags of potential quality desperate to break through.
Moyes will want Soucek and Coufal , Let the Toffees have them , Use the money for 2 strikers from the Championship, Potter can be Really good for Us ⚒️ COYI
First 20 minutes we were unrecognisable with great effort, GP will want & need a complete rebuild, players to fit a system individuals that can retain the ball in midfield because as of right now the ball is a hot potato
Taking what you say maybe some of what he is going to do lays with the academy as he has mentioned it a few times….go get a striker but let’s see orford…. Maybe Casey in at c/b sure awb and killman can get him through it
I know I’m being captain obvious here, but if you want to look at the last year and a half of our side losing its way, I have 2 words. Declan Rice. We really haven’t recovered. Our weak spots, for which there many, became zones of disaster without him in the lineup. Outs before August: both keepers, Vlad, Dinos, Emerson, Soler, Guido, Paqueta, Mic, Ings, Alvarez Ins: replacements for all of those and backups where needed. Good luck gaffer 😊
Potter has to be an improvement on Lop and that hack Moyes. How far we go who knows but Sullivan need to f.....off for Westham is to regain their place at the top of the table .
We need a new keeper who can distribute with his feet, at least one centre back, a No.6 who is technical and has "legs" and a proper striker. Alvarez (too slow and reckless), Mavrapanos (error strewn and poor distribution) and Coufal (old and slow) have no future in a Graham Potter side. Soucek is a difficult one as he is captain whilst Jarrod Bowen is out. Paqueta had his best game for months last night but he has to cut out the histrionics and diving - as well as trying drag backs outside his own box. I hope Potter watches the next U21 game as the Academy could be key for him
Although we lost I am not too down this morning -this because of 3 things : 1) we have a head coach that knows what he’s doing ,2)we have a gem in Summerville , and 3) we have a potentially very good wing back in Ollie Scarles .

On Fullkrüg; there’s a saying in American Football, “Your best ability is availability”. I like him as a guy and a player, good underdog vibe about him but I don’t see anything other than sporadic 1 or 2 game appearances in between lengthy times out. Shades of Yarmo about him imo.
Hes the man that met Andy Carrol
The highlight for me was seeing scarles starting at left back. If that was Loppy we would have had ob1 at left back and coufal at right back. We need to play people in their natural positions, so Somerville on the right was disappointing...although he had a good game. Would have liked Guilherme on for Fulkrug instead of Ings, but all in all, a better game.
We need to remember that Villa are a well organised team with some very good players and we contained them for a lot of the game on their turf while celebrating 150th anniversary- all things considered I thought the dynamics changed with our two injuries
A few purchases this window - get our inured players back into action then I think we have a good few reasons to be optimistic - which I am
COYI ⚒⚒⚒
In the short term it’s a real shame we have so many injuries for the forthcoming 2 winnable fixtures at home in Fulham and Palace.
Would love to see Orford, Potts and Earthy involved more, if not this season then this calendar year
Is there any others? I know Casey is on the bench
@@seanmwh great shout! Would be good to see him integrated, especially if Potter’s system does end up requiring more defenders to rotate. I think Scarles showed he should be involved moving forward
Gianluca had the skill set to be perfect for so many managers
That was the first time we played like a team this season.
Can I say this.
I'm no fan of Everton or infact the city of Liverpool but
Why would anyone give Moyes a job again?
It's not like they don't know what he's all about.
Good luck Graham Potter quite a positive start.
What is Everton's ambition this season? Playing nice football is bottom of the list, they just have to finish 17th. Moyes is entirely capable of doing that.
@Veaseify So was Sean Dyche.
You can see Summerville also has a brilliant football brain too, tries not to hold the ball to long and picks great passes
Spot on, Fanny Wings is a highly paid bed blocker for academy players. Pay him off and move on.
Of all the Paqueta criticisms, I think this is the first time someone’s criticized him for having sportsmanship.
As always with West Ham someone will always try to find a negative out of a positive.
Love Paqueta
We don’t necessarily need quick players, but players who react and think quickly. Brooking wasn’t quick.
@claudiushempstead9893
That's a good point.
You look under the bonnet and find Sullivan!
🤯
😂
😂
Kelleher from Liverpool. would be my choice.
An excellent analysis of the team particularly in regard to Paqueta and Fullkrug. I hope they can both make a contribution in future but the jury's out.
Johnathan David is available but being linked with a lot of clubs (£45m) but him Kudus & Summerville would be an unbelievably good front 3.
Well said about Paqueta, it’s so annoying, the play acting and diving is a blight on the game
But when you see
players fumbling the ball & being easily tackled or the passes are not finding there intended targets, then that only means one thing...........The players are getting knackered!
Kieran Dyer
We need a sweeper keeper, another centre back, an Alvarez of old or a new version of Alvarez, a dynamic box to box mid field player, & a younger faster striker as a minimum in the window ideally. There is still some dead wood to go in the summer probably 3 or 4 players out as well.
Potter definitely has work to do to get us back on track. I hope he has brought his scouts that he used when he was at Brighton. To be honest I think he will be a great success. As long as we finish above Man U I will be happy!!
As we said in another Hammer's Chat YT thread: "Grease" is the word!!
I agree with you about the keepers, I think they're decent but from a distribution point of view neither of them are up to it, I'll be honest I don't think things are as bad as you think, judging by the first half, he's had two days to sort that out, imagine what it will be like after a couple of weeks, ollie scarles..... top notch, Under loppy our major problem was not putting in the yards, Re Alvarez, remember Xabi Alonso rates him, he can't be all bad,it's the way he's used, I think harry will sort that out. i actually don't think that there is anybody in the squad who is irredeemable in a kalvin phillips / carlos sanchez kind of way
I did think Alvarez tailed off at the end of the game. I do think he will need to dip into the youth as well.
We do have some aging players that need replacing and some that we should never have bought in the first place, i.e. Ings and Fullkrug. However, if we do start easing some of these youngsters in they will not have the stamina for a full 90, and will need subbing in the second half. Where are these subs gonna come from?
I don’t think West Ham need to lose too many players, but you need depth.
Need to start bringing in a wave of new players.
Hope you feel better soon mate.
We need a fast pacy centre forward to keep up with the wingers
Hard to state what we need until we know the formation... Cm and striker is all we know for sure
Every summer I hear that we need a rebuild or an overhaul, we don’t need them in January too! We have 8-9 players capable of starting & 7-8 squad players, we need to change 3-5 each year to keep things fresh that’s all…
Starters: AWB, Kilman, Todibo, Emerson, Soucek, Alvarez, Kudus, Bowen, Paqueta, Summerville. Squad: Areola/Fab, Scarles, Dinos, Orford, JWP, Soler, Coufal, Antonio
Aside from a striker, I don’t think we NEED anything in January. Let Potter treat the next few months as a time to learn about the squad & make the changes in the summer…this season sadly, is a write off already
We, as fans, need to be positive now that Potter is here. As the Optimist said as he jumped off the building, “So far, so good” COYI ⚒️
It was a terrible transfer window in the summer. Never addressed the age of the squad, or the positions we needed to upgrade.
If no money is available in transfer window for new players then we must under all circumstances look at players available on loan even if it is just to get us through till the end of the season we cannot carry on as a skeleton squad after all any option is better than no option at all which is where we are especially in the striker department.
We have recalled Krisztián Hegyi ..maybe that could address the goalkeeper situation
We have to face it we have a handful of good players some bang average some past it a couple of key injuries were stuffed. Thing is it’s the managers job to try to do what he can with what’s there but there’s no turning this shambles round quickly whoever you are.
What a change in the team after Potter only been with squad for a day n a bit😁 Sullivan out
I could have forgiven Ings all his shortcomings if he had buried that chance at the end Gonzo
If there is no bowen, fullkrug and summerville in the next match. Guillerme surely has a chance now. Could be a silver lining
I have a question, is Jota Silva at Forrest the one we were interested in last summer?
Yes the same bloke.
@stevepoulton8826 I thought so, I thought there was an issue with his visa or some taxes or something
It's intriguing to see what Potter does with some of these players. Really want to see some youth development; bags of potential quality desperate to break through.
Won’t be able to sort it all out in one transfer window which when you consider our spend it’s ludicrous
Moyes will want Soucek and Coufal , Let the Toffees have them , Use the money for 2 strikers from the Championship, Potter can be Really good for Us ⚒️ COYI
We’re a team that should be between 8-14th in the prem with this squad but with the right man management/manager 6-10th regularly? Is Potter that man?
I’d be very tempted to play paqueta up front, I think he’d be quite good playing with his back to goal..
Any bit of physicality and he hits the deck
@ yeah but that’s intentional.. I think he’s quite strong if he stays on his feet
Maybe Casey in at c/b sure awb and killman can get him through it
It sucks for us that Mubama is leading the line for Man City today. Says a lot about the way we handle our academy players.
I know I’m being captain obvious here, but if you want to look at the last year and a half of our side losing its way, I have 2 words. Declan Rice. We really haven’t recovered. Our weak spots, for which there many, became zones of disaster without him in the lineup.
Outs before August: both keepers, Vlad, Dinos, Emerson, Soler, Guido, Paqueta, Mic, Ings, Alvarez
Ins: replacements for all of those and backups where needed.
Good luck gaffer 😊
Expect Moyes to make a bid for Soucek
I wouldn't sell. I want them to fail. I'd love to relegate Moyes.
Maybe it's time to have a good look at what Andy Irving has to offer in midfield.
Potter has to be an improvement on Lop and that hack Moyes. How far we go who knows but Sullivan need to f.....off for Westham is to regain their place at the top of the table .
What a difference that game might have ended if the blind ref didn’t give the corner that never was.
Of Everton wants to buy Soucek, we should offer them a double deal with Coufal.
I hope Potter watches the next U21 game as the Academy could be key for him
Love Scarles but noticed he wasn't quick for a young lad.
I read somewhere today about Karen Brady saying that Potter is a 5 year to 10 year project
I do wonder if any loans will be recalled.....JWP, Aguerd, Earthy or even Chambers...
Potter should get them all back Astronut
