- Into the creek we go in search of American Civil War relics. Glad not to be in the office, Mike and I search the waters for coins, buttons, and other treasures. Mike suspects this area may have relics in it because he had found a few bullets near the water on the bank not long before. Boy oh boy, do we find relics.

That tube thing is a base to a antique fishing rod. The base of the reel is still inside of it.
My step dad is a full blooded Indian and he would tell me stories from when he was a kid about his grandmother carrying around a small turtle shell made into a tobacco pouch that had been handed down through the years
My grandad was of the Cherokee Nation and they used small turtle shells to make rattles, I'm sure like every other animal, they used everything
That fish carved bullet is fantastic!!! I ❤️ it!!! They carved some cool stuff with the bullets!!!

that mallet with the hollow faces would've had leather tightly rolled and shoved into the holes to act as a soft striking face

That's what came to mind as soon as I seen it.
Thor hammers have leather one end, copper on the other.
I thought it was a rawhide mallet too.

The item at around 4:20 is a mallet. The two openings on either side of the handle had soft material to persuade things into position. I've seen the with rolled rawhide, copper, lead, plastic, etc.

That was the remains of a leather faced mallet thrown back. Highly probable Civil War.

odd curved bit is the handle off of a mug. the tiny protuberance is the spot you anchor you thumb to. might have been a wooden tankard w/ a metal handle. they hooked over the rim of the wood, or onto the bands that held the wooden parts together, IF it was made like a barrel.
Chig... I m thinking that copper tube thing, is the reel holder part off of a fishing rod. And probably the butt end of an old fly rod. I'm pretty sure I've seen them on old fishing rods 🎣

Very good finds today! But the least of them, for me, was the most provocative. Fifty-odd years ago, it was assumed in my area the two best beers were Budweiser and Schmidt's. Somewhere along the way, I moved to another part of the country and Schmidt's disappeared. Due to your find, I now know Christian Schmidt Brewing went out of business in 1987. Thanks!

13:50 looks like a fishing rod reel seat possible from a old fly fishing rod.
At 4:45 that was a hammer. It should have leather inserts in both ends. It is used to assemble metal parts without denting .
I have 1 that I use.
That hammer was used to put a cork on the side of those wooden barrels from the moonshine days . The cork was placed in the hole of the hammer then hit with another hammer that was so they didn't hit their fingers.

The bullet that was carved was attached to the cylinder found near it....it probably had a hook on it and was used for fishing

The steel tube with the wooden handle was a coiled leather ended hammer for heavy delivering non marring blows. I have one just like it.
