    Those colonial barred are beautiful and such sweet hearts. Plus, sometimes they lay a big rooster that can grow to protect the next gen of hens.

    MY MAN! RESPECT! I thought as most people would start with saying we can butcher them and get eggs, but you start with waste management and affectionate pets benefit! That’s basically 2 of the big reasons I want to keep chickens! Thanks for this awesome video :)
    Wait, for the 4th benefit, what if the chickens pooped while they were foraging in the garden? Does that also kill the plants?

      You wouldn't want the in the garden during production, maybe at the end of the season to till everything up

    My chickens LOVE a frozen watermelon on a hot day here in Alabama! They gobble it down and never seem to get a brain freeze. So funny when they see me coming with a quarter or a half a melon.

    Happened 20 years so no youtube unfortunately. Our neighbours baked us a cake one day. We were not too sure about their hygiene level, so we decided to put the cake in the center of the coop. The cake was fluorescent green and it was huge. The chicken were observing it from a safe distance for a minute or so. Then the rooster came closer, carefully, and checked if it was alive. Quickly he called the ladies and then the feast began. I have never seen anything like that before or after. It would have been viral on YT. It was hilarious, we were all crying, and the whole cake was gone in matter of minutes.

      Btw, your chicken look very nice, obviously they get all the necessary nutritions. If the chicken look like they could compete in beauty contest, it's a clear sign that they are very healthy.

      Thanks for watching. believe it or not there is no smell in the chicken run. I put enough leaves and straw and grass clippings into the run that it neutralizes all the smell of the chicken poo. If it did start to smell I would just add more carbon "browns" like straw and brown leaves. My Daisy girl was a great lil girl and I miss her dearly. Have a good day

    • @riverasurbanhomestead7564
      @riverasurbanhomestead7564  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been raising chickens for about 14yrs in my backyard and I have had zero complaints. They do like to "sing" after laying an egg and they will all join in, but after that they are usually quiet. A barking dog that won't be quiet is louder! Lol

      @@riverasurbanhomestead7564 that makes me feel better. I’ve been pretty stressed about it. I’m also on a corner lot and have them in the corner so it won’t be super close to a neighbor.

    In our country, people sell dyed chicks. That's really cruel. I wanted to buy all of them but I could only raise one.
    I've been raising chickens since I was young. We don't eat the ones we're taking care of.
    Chickens are the best.
