MY MAN! RESPECT! I thought as most people would start with saying we can butcher them and get eggs, but you start with waste management and affectionate pets benefit! That’s basically 2 of the big reasons I want to keep chickens! Thanks for this awesome video :) Wait, for the 4th benefit, what if the chickens pooped while they were foraging in the garden? Does that also kill the plants?
You wouldn't want the in the garden during production, maybe at the end of the season to till everything up

Hola Primo!! I found your channel, cause we just got chicks to start for the first time to have backyard chickens. I'm so excited and so scared (cause they are not allowed in my town) but We could not resist getting them. We have been wanting chickens for about 3 years now. I will subscribe, WE ARE RIVERA TOO.😃😃😃
Best video I’ve seen and I’ve watched chicken videos all day trying to decide if I want them or not. You also have the same chickens and amount that I’m looking to get if there are barred rock chickens keep up the good work man!
My chickens LOVE a frozen watermelon on a hot day here in Alabama! They gobble it down and never seem to get a brain freeze. So funny when they see me coming with a quarter or a half a melon.
Love your Chickens! I have 11 Hens and 1 Rooster and 2 geese, Everyone is Young at this time so now eggs yet.. Cost is up there, but they lot to offer to me while they are growing. Have a Great Day!
Happened 20 years so no youtube unfortunately. Our neighbours baked us a cake one day. We were not too sure about their hygiene level, so we decided to put the cake in the center of the coop. The cake was fluorescent green and it was huge. The chicken were observing it from a safe distance for a minute or so. Then the rooster came closer, carefully, and checked if it was alive. Quickly he called the ladies and then the feast began. I have never seen anything like that before or after. It would have been viral on YT. It was hilarious, we were all crying, and the whole cake was gone in matter of minutes.
Btw, your chicken look very nice, obviously they get all the necessary nutritions. If the chicken look like they could compete in beauty contest, it's a clear sign that they are very healthy.
Great video!! I really wish more TH-camrs made quality videos. Many are just hard to watch.... However, you forgot the 6th benefit of having backyard chickens.....You can make a video and wrap it up enjoying a silver bullet. HAHA!
I watched a mouse run throw my coop one day. And when the chickens seen it the mouse never had a chance of making it out alive. I never thought chickens would kill and eat a mouse.
Thanks for watching. believe it or not there is no smell in the chicken run. I put enough leaves and straw and grass clippings into the run that it neutralizes all the smell of the chicken poo. If it did start to smell I would just add more carbon "browns" like straw and brown leaves. My Daisy girl was a great lil girl and I miss her dearly. Have a good day
I have been raising chickens for about 14yrs in my backyard and I have had zero complaints. They do like to "sing" after laying an egg and they will all join in, but after that they are usually quiet. A barking dog that won't be quiet is louder! Lol
@@riverasurbanhomestead7564 that makes me feel better. I’ve been pretty stressed about it. I’m also on a corner lot and have them in the corner so it won’t be super close to a neighbor.
It's been raining alot lately which is great but humidity is up and the problem we're having is (crazy) flies, what would you do?? I bought those hanging sticky catchers it kinda helps...(I absolutely love our 12 Hens & 2 Roosters also 4 young Turkeys they're just such dirty birds) thank you for this informative video.
In our country, people sell dyed chicks. That's really cruel. I wanted to buy all of them but I could only raise one. I've been raising chickens since I was young. We don't eat the ones we're taking care of. Chickens are the best. Chickens should be happy.
@@riverasurbanhomestead7564 ya know , I knew that! but this one youtube "chicken expert" lol or supposedly experienced chicken farmer had conflicting information on her blog/youtube channel about mealworms and insects. she confused me and i thought to ask others
Shadowstar C trust me I had enough for my dinner the night before and steak and eggs in the morning then they get a little of the leftovers!!! Lol it all goes into creating an amazing egg product
Best-treated chickens, ever.
And about to get some babies real soon!!!!
This is one of the most interesting How-To-Chickens videos I've ever seen. Thanks!
M.C. Oult thank you!!! I really appreciate it
Those colonial barred are beautiful and such sweet hearts. Plus, sometimes they lay a big rooster that can grow to protect the next gen of hens.
One of my favorites!!
