The current state of WTF TKD is a shame...bunch of points for highly non-effective and ridiculously looking pseudo-kicks to the head...in my time, and in the TKD I still teach and train, a kick to the head was almost always a knock out...at the last Olympics, I rather watched Karate...

Karate has a pretty boring competitive sparring rules, but as a martial art it's much more complete than taekwondo.
And TKD hasn't been a KO-based sport for a long time.

    😖😖 only 3 air kicks @ a time!? Sheesh
It’s like penalizing boxers for evading techniques rather than standing up to them n blocking. Takes away from the challenge. Every fighter is different and has technique that works for them. No punches to the face now no more air kicks 🤣

Quite honestly the new set of rules is kinda stupid not gonna lie. Plus the ref has too much involvement than they should be. Should be also noted that certain kicks aren’t involved anymore like the scorpion or a kick around the behind the head, monkey kick like to the trunk has also been ousted.Just some of the things I know from a friend who fought at Paris.

As for now I've seen better fights, and a lot more usage of both feet, less fencing fighting, more attitude, the return of the spinning kicks and competitors looking to win since the first round 👍🏼, I think in general this new set of rules is gonna be good for the sport.

    umm....overall it's a net positive I'd say.
    Thanks for the update.

There are pros and cons to the new set of rules. I personally feel overall the new rules are beneficial to making the sport aspect of taekwondo better. But some changes could obviously be made to even further it in the long run. I personally love the best of three style. 1- it makes fighters who are up a lot in round 1 still have to work in round 2/3 if they want to win. And 2- it gives the competitor who loses round 1 a chance for a comeback and different mentality. Kinda like "ok i lost round 1, but now its a new round and im still in it and we start from 0 again." Definitely has helped me in matches where my first round i was getting warmed up and they didnt go well.
As for the 2 kick rule, so glad they brought it back tk 3 in September. Mainly because at the east grand prix for my division, the ref of my first two fights was calling almost EVERY time that we only kicked twice in the air which should have been ok. So dont ask me why but they were doing it for both competitors 🤷‍♀️ after round 1 we both kinda learned that we could only kick once in the air to be on safe side with gam jeoms.

The past tkd times is focusing in hurting each other, but nowadays tkd is just focusing in electronic scoring

tkd front leg sparing style its wierd and balerina looking. not happy with this WT trend. Please go back 10 years, because TKD is becoming boring. what happened with cool and advanced combinations using both legs?

Holy sh..! Back to old school!
Nuclear physics is easier to learn than the new rules. TKD is getting worse and worse!

I have fought in two tournaments with the new rules. The first time we both won round and round third was still tie e we didn’t score at all, so they check everything we were still tied. We had to go to a show of hands so it pays to be aggressive if you want to win the match
