  • Are CESME & ALACATI in TURKEY WORTH IT? Most people think of Turkey as budget travel summer holiday, but Cesme and Alacati outside of Izmir are one of a few spots in Turkey which can easily be more expensive than a vacation in Europe. We show you how expensive it is to visit a Turkish summer hot spot outside of Izmir, frequented by many from Istanbul, and some of the unique spots we think makes Cesme and Alacati worth it.
    We visit the beautiful cobblestone streets of Alacati during the day and at night and take you to a popular Cesme Beach Club in Aya Yorgi Bay and show you what it is like there during the current situation in 2020. At night we show you a unique spot for nightlife in Alacati Port called Panayir, a spot we highly recommend seeing during your time in Alacati and Cesme outside of Izmir, Turkey.

    Love seeing sleepy alaçati :) that coffee shop at the beginning is so so so good!! We loved it when we were there. Expensive yes. Glad you guys could get breakfast at your hotel. Loved this video! So helpful to see the cost of things. Love that you guys checked out the prices of things you didn’t do and shared those too and gave even more budget recommendations. Pandavera looks so cool 😎 😁 with the lights!

    • @TravelInteresante

      It is not always easy to wake up near sunrise, but of course as you know this is one of the spots it is worthwhile! The breakfast at the hotel is the one thing Steve has come to really appreciate about Turkey. The Cesme area can really be a tale of two places, but the great thing is that even the more affordable stuff is still pretty nice as well if you're on a budget!

    Thanks for sharing the information about how expensive these spots are in Turkey.
    Sounds like they are on the expensive side for Turkish but for summer holiday, it looks like still worth the visit.

      It really is an incredible summer getaway, at the end of the day, you begin to understand why they charge what they do, but the great part is there are more affordable options as well which don't take away from the natural beauty of the area... thanks so much Scott!

      We are not morning people by any stretch of the imagination... but this spot and a few others kinda call for it as it is the only way to truly enjoy them. Coffee was our life before TH-cam to be honest, so its been a seamless transition lol. That's so interesting to see the breakdown of prices. Certain items were almost as much as SF Bay Area prices, so I can see how it's on the pricier side. Having breakfast and coffee included with your hotel stay is always a good way to save money. The stuffed mussels that Steve ordered looked so delicious and that seafood restaurant that moves its dining tables out to the beach sounds dreamy. I always think it's good to have a mix of budget friendly and more expensive activities on a trip!

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true, kinda crazy when it almost equals out to what you would pay in NYC or SF area. Hope you can make it to Turkey one day and try the stuffed mussels yourself April, it is definitely one of our favorite snacks here!

    It's incredibly beautiful there. I would definitely want to experience the as a vacationer. The expense for the vacationer is much different from that of a traveler. • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hap gibi verdiğiniz bilgiler, enerjiniz, tek tek fiyatları vermeniz harika. Videolarınıza verdiğiniz emeklerin karşılığını en kısa zamanda almaya başlamanızı çok isterim. Çeşme'ye gelince, ben Mayıs veya Ekim gibi düşük sezonda gidip daha ucuza çıkarmayı tercih ediyorum. En azından otel fiyatları çok daha uygun oluyor.

    Wow super interesting to see all of the prices - living in Switzerland it all seems quite inexpensive to us, but it was really helpful when you compared to other places in Turkey to show how expensive this could be relative to other places in Turkey. It was crazy to see how busy it looked in the evening given the corona situation!

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, when you're making dollars or euros or swiss francs its not all so bad and we do see a lot of European Turks returning to these spots as well for that reason. Of course, when you live and work in Turkey a much different ball game. We've seen it much more crowded in the past, (barely being able to walk through), but for a week night in early September, for sure were surprised with just how many people we still around.

    This is a really great info guys, we like to spend not much on hotels so that we could spend more outside hotels and hunt all the foods too. like the Panayir vibe! and yeah seems like there's so many things to do there in Cesme & Alacati.

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's generally how we approach things as well... as long as the hotel is clean enough we definitely don't need a 4 or 5 star resort to explore a place! Hope you can see it one day!

    Great tip about visiting early in the morning - it looked like you did have that pretty street to yourself. It seems like it might be on the pricier side there compared to some of the other areas you've visited. But that beach club still looked like somewhere I'd like to go if I were in the area. Also, very good to know about the extra cost for breakfast - seems like you saved a lot by having it included at the hotel - and it looked pretty good too!

    Merhabalar
    Alaçatı ve çeşme Türkiye geneline göre biraz pahalı ama değer mi dersek daha ucuz ve daha az bilinen tatil yerleri de mevcut. 2 sene önce alacatı ot fesi için gittiğimde 2 günde normalde 1 haftada harcadığım tatil parasını harcamıştım. Neredeyse artık heryerde qr kodla sipariş verilebiliyor olması çok güzel.
    Sezonda değilde sezon sonu diye tabir ettiğimiz ekim yada mayıs ayları gibi zamanlarda kalabalık daha az olabilir ve daha keyifli olur diye düşünüyoruz. Beach cluplar hatta otopark ücretleri bile çok fazlaydı. 33lük bira 32tl 😲 siz herseye rağmen güler yüzünüzü ve enerjinizi kaybetmeden bize yansıtmışsınız. Güzel tatilinizi bizim için bilgilendirici hale getirip paylaştığınız için teşekkür ederiz 🙏

    Cesme and Alicati look like really great places. It seems a little expensive compared to what we thought prices would be in Turkey but still not crazy high prices (checked in GBP which is about £10 per 100 Turkish Lira) it makes sense with what Gökçe said at the end about the investors coming to the area. The boutique shops and restaurants all looked great though, looked like you guys had a great trip😊

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the conversion rates are definitely helpful if you're coming from outside Turkey, but compared to other spots we visited, like Ayvalik, Cesme and Alicati definitely aren't the cheap summer holidays some may expect when coming here. They did a great job of keeping the old school charm and architecture while building more modern shops, bars etc.

    Alaçatı benim en sevdiğim tatil beldesi! Sezon başı ve sezon sonu gitmek için en uygun tarihler. Sezon ortasında çok daha pahalı bir yer haline dönüyor.Steve sunuculuk yapmalı bence! Harika anlatıyor. Verdiği detaylar, tonlaması çok iyi :)

    Hi Gokce and Steve!
    Love the travel videos. I've been following along and went back to watch all of your beginning videos as well.
    I want to go to Turkey in February and just booked my ticket, but am a little bit concerned about the political environment, as things are getting more tense. Could you make a video, or reply and let me know if it is safe to travel there in your opinion. My girlfriend and I are a little concerned about tensions with Greece, Syria, and any potential conflict with Armenian and Azerbaijan.
    Thank you! Keep making the amazing travel videos. It's giving me something to look forward to.

      Thank you so much for watching our videos, it makes us so happy to hear that 🙏 We are thinking of a follow up video, but to answer your question, there is no safety issue here in Turkey right now. Your more than welcome to follow our instagram stories as we are going around. Political tensions are always there for every country and no country is safe fully. Feel free to DM us too! 🤗

      @@TravelInteresante Thank you for the detailed response! I feel so much better knowing that because everyone here in the states gets concerned when I tell them we're going there, but I guess it's good to not be tuned into the news all the time, especially in 2020. I'm sure people overseas think negative thoughts when they hear news about the US right now too. We're excited to explore your beautiful country!

    Alacati’nin merkezi gercekten cok tatli gorunuyor. Kahvaltiyi dahil almak gercekten cok mantikli. Hem ac ac kahvalti yeri arama zahmeti de ortadan kalkiyor 😊Gercekten beachclub’lar oldukca pahaliymis da.
    Ama QR codla siparis vermek cok mantikli bu donemde. Midye dolma 😍Ama fiyatlar dediginiz gibi Turkiye’nin geri kalanina gore oldukca yuksekmis

    Hey guys thanks for the tips! Great video!! I'm traveling to Çesme next year with my boyfriend and you helped us a lot. We are just not sure if we need a car to move around or if there is public transportation. What do you recommend?

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it! From izmir airport or city there is a bus for 25 lira per person (cesme seyahat is the company) each way. In Cesme and alicati there are small buses (dolmus) that can take you around to each place. You can also take a taxi but it's more expensive of course. Renting a car with gas and tolls would be about the same as a taxi, but if you plan to drink, a taxi would be safer... Though a language barrier will exist with cab drivers. It really depends on your budget, of course we like the freedom of driving our own car personally or driving around with friends.

    Alacati seems even more pricy than Istanbul.
    We didn't spend $70 USD anywhere, the most expensive thing we had was the meze for like $58
    But I guess it makes sense, they are directed to foreigners, and if we were living in NYC with our previous jobs, that would not be that much

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is basically a summer escape for upper middle class and upper class Istanbul residents... only Bodrum is more expensive really, but that's a story for a different time! ;)

    Hello, just discovered your channel. Will be in Turkey next week and Alacati/Cesme is definitely on our list as we head down the west coast. You mentioned Ayvalık, is it definitely a must see place? Any other places on the way from Istanbul to Izmir that you would definitely recommend? Thanks!

    What IS a vibrant beach town that’s affordable and somehow more local?

    • @TravelInteresante
      @TravelInteresante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We love Kas. It is about half way between Anytalya and Fethiye, so a bit remote, but we think it is well worth it and has 2 well known beaches nearby.
      We enjoyed Fethiye as well, but it trends more towards the touristic side, but has a local flair still.
      We have videos on both spots!
