    That's your spark plug wires in the wrong positions.

    Check your firing order/ make sure. Also, you're running 12 volts direct to the coil - you may be overvolting the primary side - if the coil does not have an internal resistor. Lastly check your points dwell while its running. You can get a cheap meter online😊

    I would also check your condenser if you have a points ignition, i had a bad one that acted like a rev limiter and sounded similar to this at idle.

    153624 is the firing order look on intake manifold it tells the same firing order
    Make sure valve lash adjusted correct use napa echilin points condenser

    Check your base timing should start with 10 degrees. That looks like an amazon chinesium carb, if you've changed the fuel pump which should only be (4-6psi) all the newer mechanical fuel pumps will creep up to almost 13psi which overides the needle and seat flooding the engine. If that 240 is original it has a closed chambered head and needs premium fuel.

    You should stick to working on lawnmowers...after you're done, they probably won't run either...have no fear...you're probably good at drinking beer...watch the movie SLING BLADE...might stimulate your brain...
