As kids , a teacher taught us this song , l was around 5 years back then … the tune and some of the lyrics have stayed on with me since then. Ireland has always been in my bucket list ever since! I’ve tried googling the song a number of times and have come across a few , but your rendition is the best one I’ve ever come across … Am planning to visit UK soon and was looking forward to visiting Galway bay etc. but have been told that I would need Schengen visa … so still trying.. in the meantime, I’ll keep listening to you ! 👍👍
Beautiful interpretation and delivery, exuding meaning. That line 'Yet the strangers came and tried to teach us their ways / And they scorned us just for being what we are' brings out the subtly expressed resentment of those strangers - presumably the English - who thought they knew better than the natives (and not just in Ireland of course - Wales, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, Australia...). Rarely is a political point so sweetly made (and as for the lyricism of the following lines: 'But they might as well go chasing after rainbows / Or light a penny candle from a star' - peerless poetry.
I ordinarily don't care for this song. Here in the States, it, along with Danny Boy, has become trite. But your version has turned it into almost a completely different song. This is the best rendition of this very commonly heard song I've ever heard. Maith thu!

I liked your take on this classic song. Beautifully sung, excellent phrasing.
Amazing. What a voice. Dont change style like the rest of them. Absolutely awesome as you are.
Well done my freind. Can't wait for more songs.
