A hydraulic accumulator is a pressure storage reservoir in which an incompressible hydraulic fluid is held under pressure that is applied by an external source of mechanical energy. The external source can be an engine, a spring, a raised weight, or a compressed gas.[note 1] An accumulator enables a hydraulic system to cope with extremes of demand using a less powerful pump, to respond more quickly to a temporary demand, and to smooth out pulsations. It is a type of energy storage device.
What does a hydraulic accumulator do?
Piston, Oil, Gas, Bladder Accumulators. A hydraulic accumulator is a pressure vessel that performs many tasks in a hydraulic system. They are used to maintain pressure, store and recapture energy, reduce pressure peaks, power chassis suspensions, and dampen shock, vibration and pulsations.
What are the 3 types of accumulator?
Depending on separating elements, we can distinguish three types of hydraulic accumulators: bladder accumulators, diaphragm accumulators, and piston accumulators.
What is an accumulator and what is its purpose?
An accumulator is primarily used as a register in a CPU to store intermediate logical or arithmetic data in multistep calculations. For such calculations, it functions as a temporary storage location.
Hydraulic accumulators are able to provide a handful of functions: Energy storage, leakage compensation, and vibration and shock reduction. These functions can be used for various applications and purposes, although energy storage is by far the most common.

You are wrong sir, the accumulator job is to eliminate the pulsation from pump flow, to block the reverse flow you have to use a non return valve or check valve,and your accumulator will only activate when the pump or line pressure is higher than your nitrogen pressure.

Accumulater is a device which stores energy in the form of pressure energy, when the system fails , in such condition the accumulater is used.
Agar maan lo system me work ho rha hai aur system me maan lo pump kharab ho gya aur jo weight lift kiya tha to wo to wahi rhega na jabtak usko external force na lage .....so in that condition accumulater me jo pressure energy stored tha wo release kar diya jata hai
