Man that keyboard back to drums switch up would keep me up at night. Dammit Atticus. What are you doing over there?! why do I have to do everything? Wait where did Robin go? Oh I am playing guitar now too? Trent? Trent? Anyone? Hello?
@@morbidmanmusic people get overly hung up over "omg it's not super high quality". Who cares? You're putting it in a mix, processing it and probably layering it with other samples. At that point it really doesn't matter anymore. Most hits are made by sampling scratchy vynils through 12 bit samplers.
When Pino played the synth part for MoTP on the bass, I knew he would be forever my favorite nails bassist. It sounded so good, and he was just a monster player.
🤯 Absolutely amazing. When you transition back to the drums after the first piano part there’s no margin for error! Assume there’s a click running 😬. But Trent seems to ad lib the tempo during the piano parts only for a click to come back in. Would love to know how it hangs together live. Great stuff Ilan. Drumming is off the charts. Especially Piggy. Love it. Kudos to Aaron too for the mix. Great video.
No, the click is running the whole time. At times, Trent messes with Ilan and waits until the very last second to finish his part. Ilan has had to leave the piano and get back to the drums without playing the last piano part.
need drum cam footage of the whole live catalogue, at the very least the perfect drug. Also Trent sure sounds so amazing, the energy he has for his age is hard to fathom.
The cohesiveness they have together for him to jump off the piano right to the crash cymbal drop and everyone was on point with him and Trent. This type of real life collaboration on stage is what’s at danger of being lost to future generations. Respect to the bands keeping live music alive.
@@BIGxBOSSxx1 Exactly, when I was growing up there was over half my friend group played music, and my band got together a couple times a week for a few hours. It was great social time. Now, I’ve been teaching music for 15 years and hundreds and students and I can think of a handful of kids that actually played music with other kids. It definitely seems like being in a band together with your friends is something that’s getting lost.
Just watched perfect drug from this show, now this. I love how overdramatic it is when you go from killing the drums, to getting up to play the simplest of keys. It goes over so smoothly and awesome, totally worth it. Amazing job, dude.
First time I saw this guy play was an old Fenix TX video and was blown away by how awesome he was. Fast forward to 2013 and I’m seeing NIN live and I’m looking at the drummer thinking “Damn. He looks like the Fenix TX drummer” only to find out it’s the same guy. I was so happy lol
Ilan is such an awesome drummer...and overall musician. Not taking away from past NIN drummers but NIN is lucky to have him on drums. Love his The New Regime work as well.
Piggy will always be one of my favorites and you own it ! After playing that song for so many years you truly found some of the perfect fills in the back end of that tune. Bravo !!!
Beautiful work Ilan 🖤 There are some NIN songs that I see in concert that I just have to zero in on watching you play. NIN percussion is so unique and unmistakable. It doesn’t follow convention and that feeling of the driving rhythm of a song being off center and teetering between predictability and being totally unexpected is like a massage for my brain. PS I was glad to see that you had a piano so near to your kit on this tour. I think last time I saw NIN live you were running halfway across the stage 😆
It’s interesting how the drum beat in Piggy bares a resemblance to the beat in Hey Man Nice Shot, considering the song is about Richard Patrick leaving the band and starting Filter.
This is a fantastic video/resource. Watching how efficient your playing is along with noticing the little nuances in patterns I've heard dozens of times is amazing to see. Inspiring to say the least.
Totally fucking incredible. What a performance. Saw Nails at Rockville in May after not seeing them for at least a decade or two. But I had seen them at least a half dozen times in the 90's even in small clubs. They sounded different but it was still absolutely amazing. My 12 year old daughter was completely floored by the show too. We had bad weather for 2 days and both previous days headliners cancelled. Trent and company literally came in on Sun night and saved the whole weekend for us. All these years later and still crushing. Viva Nails!
Dude the performance is unbelievable, but holy shit, you really know how to mix a band. You should be mixing all of NIN’s live stuff. And that’s really saying something.
Every time I’ve seen NIN other than staring at Trent he has to be my second most watched band member. And I’m a guitar player ha. Now it’s good to see why
Holy fist fck. I've seen you live in London and it was amaaaaazing, but this just beats it. Its Josh Freeze ++ awesome. Bit extra bonus points for doing the chords, and, and and. Arrgghhh, I'll have to buy tickets again.
Been looking forward to these since you mentioned it on the live stream the other day! You sir are a god dam juggernaut on the kit! Multi-talented multi-instrumentalist....much respect and praise!
To go from the drums to the piano then back to the drums again, all in time, is to me an amazing feat in itself.
I jump from my chair when I saw this one. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
They all started perfectly on time without a count off too. Phenomenal shit man
@@johnmontiel3533 they're all on a click on in-ear monitors
Got them in-ears going with the tempo but even so incredible. Just awesome.
Youngest musician ever inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, so there's that.
I think that might be Josh Klinghoffer?
The "tonight-ah" at 2:49 made me laugh out loud. I can only assume Trent gets bored and decides to fuck with the crowd. Either way. Hilarious.
Hahaha TR channeling Michael Jackson
Beats the drum kit like it owes him money and then casually walks over to the keyboard and lightly plays a beautiful melody. Classic.
I've been drumming along to NIN for 15 years and have never seen anything like this before. My mind is absolutely blown.
My fav is Piggy in Sacramento with Josh Freese
I've so many more for u to see
Some links maybe ?
Yeah this is crazy. I was looking for the guy that played on the studio video in 1994. This is definitely not the same guy
Not only does he Nail It, but those drums sound flawless.
Yeah it sounds perfect. Wish is the same.

I love that transition at 1:36! Gently plays the piano and then proceeds to smash the drums again. :)
I saw NIN in Raleigh on this tour. Absolutely amazing show.

That’s the best version of Piggy I’ve ever heard!! Whoa! Brilliant 😮😮
何十年か前にこの曲を聴いてからこのドラムのリズムが頭から離れることはない。
1:32 Trent apparently loves to troll Ilan there, randomly changing the timing so he has to run back to the kit
The piano at the end where Rubin plays drums sounds pretty new regime-ish!
