I'm new at silversmith work, and I just found your youtube account. I love your videos, very helpful, you're an awesome teacher. You make it easy to follow. Thanks so much for your time, Chad!
Those are very pretty, and I can see why they are a good seller. Can’t say I’ve ever bought that wide of low dome wire from Rio, but you just gave me a good reason to consider it on a future order. Thanks for sharing 😃 P.S. for those who don’t like your air filing, just tell them you are a filing pilot 👩✈️✈️.
Well, I said earlier that I've never found a good use for Rio's low dome, but will revisit this. Hammering the edges seems a good solution to the sharpness that I dislike about low dome. This stuff is so expensive these days and sales this year are very sluggish so I'm hesitant about tying up $ in inventory. Nevertheless, will be the next ring project for me. Thanks, Chad.
I think 15k is well deserved as you're doing very well explained, detailed and over all good content videos 😊 With this meny followers, it might be a good time to ask suppliers to donate you equipment you would like to use in exchange of doing a demo and promotion video? Maybe one extra for a give away as that will add to your likes and comments whitch will help your channels growth? Really nice pattern on the second ring, liked it a lot!
Hey Chad, i love watching your videos and what i have been doing learning jewelry and been using copper just startin out. I was impressed with the dome rings which is silvery colored. What type of material is that because i cant afford silver to play with now but that material i will love playing with. Is it a stock off the shelf somewhere material?
Hi there ! ;) ilIm wondering where the part of the video where you created a seat for the pavilion of the peridot went lol 🤔 - I would've lived to see that part of it as well. Did you use a step, or did you carve the seat out with a burr??? Best M
@chadssilversmithing Would really like to see that process in a video sometime. Thanks for all of the info you share! I'm really enjoying your lessons. Much needed, lol!
Thank you for the great tutorial. Can you explain why you didn’t solder the ring before adding the bezel? I ask because the ring is so large I am afraid the bezel will slide off when I solder the ring closed. I have been wanting to try this type of setting on a ring where I have to curve the bezel to fit the curve of the ring it looks challenging but so pretty! Thanks!
Hello Jeannebarr! I did that so it would be easier to saw the hole under the stone into an oval shape. Once it is ring shaped, it's hard to use a jeweler's saw in that particular situation:)
Hi Chad, I’ve bought rios low dome and it made a beautiful cuff bracelet but it’s so expensive but all the silver is sky high right now but my question is if I were to take a larger gauge of half round wire and run it through my rolling mill do you think I could get it looking like the low dome? Not sure if I would actually be saving any money or not but silver is getting so high that if I don’t sell pieces fairly fast I can’t afford more silver so trying to be frugal.
New to the craft. Apologize if the question has been asked or is inappropriate. Why did you cut a hole under the stone bezel? Do you have to do it if adding a stone.
Hello Cindy:). I generally only do it on this sort of ring if I'm putting a faceted stone on the piece. Most faceted stone settings feature an open bottom to allow more light to reach the stone. In this type of setting, your finger will prevent that while wearing it, but it provides a place for the tip of the pavilion to rest in and allows a bit of extra light to get to the stone when you hold it up to look at it off the finger.
@@chadssilversmithing I checked Rio, too, and "no-go." Thank you for your assistance; hopefully, someone out there may have some suggestions. Fingers crossed!
I got mine from Amazon. Last I looked, they had several types. I cheated out and got the less expensive model. I wish I had gotten the one that also had 60° and 30° as well:)
It’s another Home-run. Chad has done it yet again. Thanks Chad.
Aww, thanks Kristi!
@ you are most welcome. The sketch book is fantastic. Thank you for that too.

Love these rings. I made one for myself and wear it practically every day

Thanks Elin! It would be fun to access tools that are a little out of my price range:)
Absolutely Gorgeous, thank You for all this, learned a lot❤
My pleasure Deb! Thanks for the nice comment:)

Thanks! I'm using sterling silver. I'm not sure about alternate materials.
I’ll try a piece and see what it looks like
Send a pic to my instagram! I'd love to see it:)
Thanks for being so clear with the dimensions of the silver you use. It can be a bit overwhelming on what you should buy.
Sure Chris! Thanks for the nice comment:)

@@mariannes.6023 Hello Mariannes! I cut the hole into an oval and used a diamond bur to slope it:)
@chadssilversmithing 👍😊 btw, do you live by the ocean--I hear a background noise in some of ur vids that sounds like waves crashing on rocks...?
@@mariannes.6023 I wish:). It’s likely the software background noise suppression that is imperfect. My exhaust fan and furnace fan are a little noisy.

Hello Tahomyjo! I think you’d just get a flat spot on the top of the wire, which may look pretty cool, but not much like low dome:)

I'm having difficulties locating half-round, half-hard wire in 0, 2 or 4 gauge. Do you have any suggestiones where I may look?
I get most of my silver from rio, and they don't seem to carry it in those sizes. Anybody else here have any suggestions for this gentleman?

Is this ring in your e book ?
Hello Sandra. This one will be in the 2024 Ebook that I will put out at the beginning of next year:)
