Great video as always George. Rough Ryders do make sense and if one is worried about losing one; Well, Buy two. For the price why not. I have a number of them and one of the most useful is the Backwoods Stockman. Old fashioned, but it works. Stay warm up there. Here in the southeast it is feeling like summer already. For now that is. Take Care!
Now George! You always seem to remind me of the wood dwarfs and wood gnimphs with sticky fingers. Or was it that grey digger burrowing with my favorite knives with a snicker??? Leatherman? Gone!!! 70.00 now? Sheesh bowinkle! Now my old barlow. Heavy 2 blade with a brassy feeling. 25 years and never replaced? Oh what to do? What to do? Lol Moras, Jokers, k bars, but still hankering for a barlow, but which one???
Being a knife addict, I have spent over $100 on quite a few knives. The problem is I'm afraid to use them so I bring my budgets to work haha. RR apta are unreal for the price, 1/10 the price of those Jack Wolf ones, I got the Micarta one, blows my mind. You're the man George, great video!i
I too am a RR freak for the same reasons you espoused in this video, ie., affordability, quality, variety, beauty. Thanks for sharing a few from your collection.
George, you folder fondler, HA HA, always fun to hear what you have to say. Well, you finally did it. You persuaded me to buy a Rough Ryder knife. I bought the large stockman pattern in the faded blue jeans series, and I have to confess that I'm very impressed. I really like the fit and finish; everything seems right. It's a good-looking knife. The wharncliff blade is slightly out of line with the handle, but it has to be to allow room for the spey blade. I don't expect that I'll keep it as a collector's knife. I'll take it out and try slicing an apple and whittling a stick or two to see how it works and sharpen the blade to see how well the steel takes an edge, but so far, I'm happy with what I bought, and, yes, the price is definitely right.
I bought a few rough rider and marbles, never used, still in box's with rest of my not in rotation knives. They all look good, that's why I bought them they caught my eye.
👍 I like Rough Ryder knives and have selected several based upon your showcasing them - thank you. I have had Case, GEC, Chris Reeve, Boker, Benchmade and other so-called “high end” knives, but believe Rough Ryder provides the best value. Will they hold up for generations? I don’t know, but with proper care perhaps.
All true. I am a budget guy and Rough rider certainly provides me well. Thanks again for the support. Oh been looking at some other makes. Maybe not as well known.
Thankyou. Love them RR knives cannot beat value. And they are starting to come out with new styles...yay. thanks for watching always appriciate the support
Lol. “If it has blades, I’ll buy it.” I own a Case and a GEC and a few RRRs, and I’m firmly in the RR camp. They make soooooo many different patterns and covers and styles. And they make them well. And they’re inexpensive, so I can have a bunch. Picking just five would be tough. You did good.
Really starting to get into traditional knives more. I've always had some and enjoyed them but had gotten away from them. RR knives are a phenomenal value. Love some of those RoseCraft traditionals as well. Oh and I'm for sure on a budget lol. I have five kids 😂Thanks for sharing. Great content.
Yeah old man winter has been hammering yall hasn't he. I live in AL and the lowest Temps we've had is about 30 early in the morn. Was in hi 70s 2 weeks ago. I agree with you about the knives. All I can see is this supposed super steels. I'd rather save the hundreds and touch my cheap knife up every once in a while. I've been thinking about buying some of the RR knives myself. For some reason I never have
Have you tried whittling with the cotton sampler? I am interested in getting one! For your work knife but want something a little smaller I recommend the rough Ryder wasp liner lock. It’s a smaller work knife but with vg10 and g10 handles ! My favorite
I just bought my first RR knife, I decided to get the Tuff Stag Scout Knife, its a beautiful big scout knife, and I'm hoping I get a really good sample of one, my first purchase several yrs ago from SMKW was not pleasant when I ordered a Bear & Sons Yellow Handle Synth Carbon Steel Stockman. I'm hoping I get a good one now.
"Fondle my favorite folders" that’s funny! I have a soft spot for Case knives. Comes from my youth. The local department store had a beauty shop in the basement. Outside of the beauty shop was a display case full of Case knives. While mom was getting her hair fixed, I would ogle the case knives. Hey, if you can fondle, I can ogle! That is where my love of Case knives was birthed. My favorite folding patterns are the Sodbuster and the Trapper. You got me interested in the Rough Ryder knives with your wonderful reviews. It’s amazing the quality you get for such a reasonable price. You sir, are responsible for my Rough Ryder collections. It started with the Blue Mule series, then the Heavy Forge, just finished up the Faded Blue Jean series. I a wanting to go to the fixed blades next, and I like the reserve series, but they are a bit pricey. Oh, my favorite Rough Ryder knife? The Blue Mule Sunfish.
Nice. I do like case but are really outside my budget. Not by much when considering the cost of some others. Glad to help. Apppriciate your support as always. Stay safe 🙏
I have 4 of those Sodbusters and they lockup the same as yours. Also I have other knives that have the same locking system and they're not supposed to go all the way over they should stay somewhere in the middle.
I shop...but if you go to Smokey Mountain Knife Works (SMKW) Website they have the complete line.(Excellent website for knife shopping) I believe they own the RR brand but not sure on that. They have specials now and again. If I find one I like I will price shop. I have Amazon prime so sometimes they may have a better price. Good luck.
I luv RR Knives, they brought me back to Slip Joints. I agree The Sod Buster and Barlows are my 2 favs.
Yep cannot walk past a Sod buster...the horror. Thanks for watching

Huh gonna have to look at that. Thankyou. Whitting with the Sampler might be difficult because of the wide blade. 🤔
