Not all dead trees should be removed, some are great for wildlife and habitat. Unfortunately, here in northern california…we have some locations that are covered in dead trees. From drought and wildfire. - กีฬา
It's not even the power that impresses me the most, it's the accuracy - hitting the exact same spot dozens of times in a row... elite-athelete-level movement control.
Not really all that my guy. Elects athlete control is a bit much. I started splitting wood when I was 12 and remember being that impressed that my dad never missed a swing but by the time I was 18 after a few seasons of splitting I wasn’t missing a swing either. Just practice and muscle memory
@@Ragin__CajunThat's splitting wood and not doing down a huge tree with an axe. Different muscle memory there.
@@walterkoziol3822 it’s literally the same concept. Just sideways my guy. the guy said it’s the accuracy that’s impressive not the power
@@Ragin__Cajun who asked

For those wondering what axe he is using, it is the ECHO HA-1363 3.5 lb. felling axe with 36 in. handle.
That base was so punk. I'd expect a family of mice and an army of ants to jump out while cutting it up. Maybe even the first recorded wood pecker attack.
Scariest type to cut down. 😅 snags are no joke
@@ThorenBradleyEspecially because you don’t know if that heart is hollow. Damn thing can fall at any time
@@ciaranwalsh2131 what type of question is that lmao
@@tiinan375 hahahahaha
@etholmes9097 he deleted the question, what was it?
Only people who have chopped a tree down themselves can understand how truly magnificent his work is.
Took my first tree down with an axe the other day! Wasn't nearly as big but it definitely gave me a lot of respect for what you do. I was so out of breath! I cant even imagine how you felt after this 😳
That's it? I took down a tree.. and my neighbor's fence!
@@mitchellgardner2193 hell yeah! Two birds, one stone! 😂
If you know a lineman, see if he'll let you try his climbing gear out, i have a lot of respect for anyone that can do it.
@charizard4410 I'm actually a tree climber/ arborist, so I've got all my own gear. People definitely should try it out though! This was just my first time taking down a tree with an axe, and it was awesome!
@@chrisvail94 I dated a girl 20+ years ago, i found a pair of climbing spikes in her dad's house, asked if i could have them.. she said sure idc, found out how much they cost years later, i'm sure he was pissed. 😂
This man inspires me to be a better person god bless you Thoren
watching a dude chop down a dead tree inspires you? boy.... you are weak.
Why though... ?
If someone can't understand why another person has inspired you to be a better person, they've been dulled by society. That's a personal journey with ones own soul.

I’m really liking, how his hand is always repositioning while he’s about swing the axe forward, idk if it’s to do with more momentum or force being put into its swing, but that is neat!
same concept with a sledge hammer more leverage for the blow
@@letterslayer7814 understandable

Nice to see some old fashioned work
You know your swings have power behind them when it sounds more like a shotgun being fired than an axe swing.
Hey, a quick tip from my grandfather:
Use a rough sandpaper to grind off the coating on the axe handle. That way you will never get blisters on your hands again.
Would that mean your hands wouldn't get blisters on natural untouched wood as opposed to a treated handle? or what way does your grandfather mean?
Thanks
@@NewHandle_Basically yes, but even untreated wood can give you blisters, it just shifts easier than a varnished handle. A true craftsman doesn't put varnish on the handle, just oil to preserve the wood
"I got blisters on me fingers!"
trueeeee
Or you can wear gloves......
Nice record! This video makes me feel again like having the enjoyment of splitting chunks and cutting trees back home!! Thank you, cool entertainment. I really appreciate that you wore a helmet - saftey first in all types of craftsmanship.
Such a good feeling to make a tree fall just by hand and body power!! ❤
You should do more of these! Super entertaining and fun to watch! Keep up the good work man!!
You personality and dressing sense is just awesome 👌
Awesome videos i love watching ya. Learned a few new ways to chop wood thats for sure.
The accuracy of this holy man is surreal
"This is going to take a minute" four and a half, exactly. 😂
Buddy, former timber faller here. I love what your doing but that thing is full of widowmakers. One of our skidder operators was almost killed by one like that. Top broke and came down through the cab. It pinned him through his hips. It paralyzed him. Everyone gets hurt out there at some point. Stay safe out there.
i usually watch cycling all the time but they show so much non-racing moments now it's boring - and now i've found you - THIS DESERVES a racing category
There are lumberjack competitions that have a bunch of cool stuff, including races
I grew up on a small farm with my grandpap... we cut wood every fall, prepping for the winter... nothing easy about swinging an axe... Dude is a BEAST !!!
Your accuracy is amazing!
Buen trabajo, saludos desde España 😊🇪🇸
Hey man just one question, do you do some specific exercise to counterbalance the fact that you always chop from one side ? Doesnt it give you some king of muscular imbalance? Thanks. And awesome video!
Your wife better be filming all those smiles..😁 and listening to that tree tweak is pretty amazing.. if you were very ugly Thoren, you'd still be as special as you are.👏👏 Keep chopping it's freaking amazing. Your precision is borderline godlike
This was a wildly kind an awesome comment to get. Dang
Nice! Just watched this with my son, looked at me funny when you said “notched the fuck outta that thing”

Hey Thoren, I'm new here and I just immediately had this question when I saw your shorts.
Do people in your line of work usually end up having arthritis or some form of medical problem with their hands? If yes are there things you do to protect yourselves from this?
My biggest respect 👊
I gotta know how long that took! You sir are a beast!
This is what a real man looks like

That was scary as hell. Impressive thoug
i tried doing this with a small peach tree and couldn't even put a notch it it this guy makes it look real easy
Looks easy... until you do one yourself.. this dude is strong!

This guy is the real Paul Bunion
That hard of a workout, real man workout, you’ll need back strap steaks and purple hull peas for lunch with sweet tea. At least down south.
You good bro? Been a minute!
I live rural, and spend a LOT travelling to and from the gym 6 days a week...
I have a ton of pine on my land... Im seriously considering adding some axe work, both chopping and splitting to my training regimen.... its free, it gets me firewood, and clears my land to build more trails.
Bros a legend 💪
If id walk through that forest, id run because it sounds like a warzone
Since I was a kiddo I always had this weird “fetish” to take down a tree with nothing else then but a axe. Weirdly a thing that I think every man should experience! I’m glad I’m not the only weird one :))

@@joihgore6173
Actually not canada, during the war of syria we all had to use woods as a warming way
@@rickg5220 That's sad. Especially when my country is implicated in this. And now in UA.
Speaking of wood, it is forbidden in our country because of "laws". Although in the days of my grandfather's youth it was possible. And now only China is allowed to cut down the whole of Siberia. Not people, but slaves here.
Question for you. Why do you start your split in the middle like that? Why not chunk out the side and work your way around then split the middle? I'm just curious.
That was badass
Minecraft Steve is a living legend then
The camera man never dies
Bro, that precision. 🤨Also how do you get to chop wood all day? Do you just own property that has enough trees to keep up with you?
I've joked about you being Paul Bunyan, but I do imagine you could take out a small forest at this rate...
Just imagine having this guy Drive wedges for you out cutting Timber
Good to see a dude using his body as God intended. Godspeed brother.
I'm just here for the masculine pulchritude...
I was able to find a Brady and a W B & Co. broad axe not too long ago. I was wondering if you had any interest in antique axes. Not looking to sell just asking. I just recently found your channel. The W B & Co looks to still have quite a bit of tool steel on the edge, and it looks to be hammer forged on.
''as safe as we need too..'' then proceeds without safety glasses..
got a link for that axe? I bought a pretty good semi-cheap one recently and I've been enjoying exercising/chopping small trees around my cabin with it. wouldn't mind leveling up at some point
Been there , done that. Cut trees down when we were 14 with axes.
Poor tree. Love the man but love the tree too
The world was a different place when that was a sapling.
This man is a freaking beast! Holy sh*t! 😂 I wish i can get big like that but then i would be to big to continue racing motocross. I mean that as a sincere compliment. That must take some serious power and cardio to swing an Axe like that.
Guys built are countries with axes.
Imagine this guy swinging a base ball bat
That’s a hard ass tree. I’ve cut many like that with a chainsaw. Center, or heart, of that conifer is great for fire starting (fatwood).
That's a fckn workout 😱👏
You got bit by the bug my friend. The chordwood bug. Soon you're gonna be looking for any excuse to swing and cut stuff with your axe.
I always love watching these. I told my man he should take up using an axe lol 😂
@Kevin Martin It’s a joke. Try getting a sense of humor. My man and I actually watch these and other random videos together that we both take turns picking. Hey Thoren! Where did you get the lid with that particular chin strap?
The freaking accuracy, Thoren. Damn man. It didn’t have a chance.

"I been chopping this tree since 1990... I'm pretty sure it's outgrowing me chopping it"

What axe and splitter do you use ?
Hey @Thorenbradley do you mind sharing your hair product / routine? I’m pretty bad at styling my hair and would need some advice :) Much love from Germany 🇩🇪
Super rigorous work like that is amazing for your cardio
should try chopping left handed side as well. That's how they used to do it, switching stance style.
I don’t think the Lorax likes him lol
Hi, good video!
Can someone tell me which axe this is?
I have absolutely no idea about this. But when you walk behind it as it falls, isn't there a chance it might slip towards you?
Very unlikely, that wedge he made at the beginning is called a notch cut. Making that wedge at the beginning ensures that the opening of the wedge is where the tree falls. If you look up a notch cut you can find diagrams
@@00Tottr thanks for explaining, I don't mean the danger of the tree falling towards him. What I am asking about is as it falls, of the base may slip Nd hit him
@@jaafarnasrallah2941he doesnt cut right thru the tree it eventually just bends and snaps off
@@jaafarnasrallah2941 like the dude above me said, he never actually cuts all the way through, the tree bends towards the notch and then snaps off when it's near the ground, so the likelihood of it slipping is incredibly low.
Thanks guys, I really like it when someone proves I had something I didn't understand well 🙌🙌🙌
It’s amazingly amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
