Thank you, Pal, for this nostalgic trip to the peninsula. I remember so well the visit to the fabulous museums which were so informative and fascinating. A beautiful part of your city, and you bring it to life.

Hey, thanks a lot! Yea Bygdøy is a pretty interesting place. I've been there many times too, but still stumble across new hiking paths and hidden spots. Also nice to see others make movies from Oslo, good luck with your channel :)

We visited that peninsula when we were in Oslo in 2014. I wish we could have seen more while there. We did see the Viking Ship museum and the Kon Tiki museum both of which were a highlight for us. When I was in high school I remember reading the book Kon Tiki about that amazing expedition. I was very inspired by that book so it was a big thrill for me to actually see the real Kon Tiki. And the Viking Museum was also amazing. Outside the museum is a sculpture of a couple, Helge & Anne Stine Ingstad, who first discovered the remains of a Viking settlement on the northern tip of the Newfoundland peninsula. This settlement proved that the Vikings had visited the eastern shores of Canada. A year later, we were able to visit L'Anse Aux Meadows, the location of that site and where there is now a recreation of that settlement. All these connections are so amazing!!! THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR CITY AND YOUR COUNTRY WITH US, PAL.

Hi Louise! I'm glad you had the chance to see those two museums. My favorites in Oslo. I hope to go to L'Anse Aux Meadows some day to see the remains of the Viking settlement. My girlfriend is Canadian, so we have been talking about visiting. Btw. Helge Ingstad has written quite a few interesting books about his adventures, especially the early ones. I recommend reading them. Take care, and thanks a lot for your nice message :D

This was such a great trip that we enjoyed with you in June, 2018. Seeing your strolls through Oslo warms are hearts and livens our great memories. We totally enjoyed the Viking Museum/Maritime Museum and The Kon Tiki Museum. All within a reasonable walking distance. We will never forget our fabulous Scandinavian Trip through Rick Steves. Thanks again for renewing our great memories of Oslo.

I always love getting educated like this on places everyone should know (who lives in Norway) I have never been to Bygdøy like this, so I have write it down on my to do list this year. Thank you for making this amazing and detailed tour. Your videos are a breath of fresh air, and really well made. Thank you 👏🏻

Hi Thomas, thanks a lot for your comment. It's fun to make these video, but even better when I feel I can teach something. The majority of visitors to Bygdøy tend to just go there with the bus/ferry and back again, so hopefully it will inspire people to go for a stroll :)

PAL- A very interesting walk and informative. You took us to the Viking Museum but we missed some of the scenery you showed us on your walk. Has the snow melted? Take care and keep up the great videos.

Thanks John! The snow has melted down in the city, but I read yesterday that up in the forest there are still some possibilities for cross country skiing. I'm waiting for the temperature to go up a couple of degrees and then I'll go sailing :)

While walking around the viking museum, I noticed a phone box which is converted into a book donation store. Take a book, leave a book. I thought it was a interesting use of these old technologies.

Hehe yea those box are now protected and a historical monument so they can’t be taken down. Luckily we’ve found other good use :)
