What a privilege to be friends with the great Rick Steve! He is the real travel blogger who started before travelling became a trend in social media. Love content of you Pål and content of Rick Steve, this video is no exception. Wish we came across in Oslo :)
Yes I'm very privileged indeed! Rick is a super nice guy, and as you say the real travel blogger before it became a trend. I hope to see you in Oslo some day
When we first saw the Oslo fjord in 2014 I was amazed at how the topography was so similar to where I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Years ago we owned a small farm not far from the city of Victoria. That 4 acre farm was part of land that had been farmed by a Norwegian fellow called Hans Helgesen who chose the location because it reminded him of his home near Oslo back in Norway. When we saw the Oslo fjord we really understood what Hans Helegesen was talking about. Amazing!!
Great video Pal! My wife and I spent May in Oslo and it was fantastic, we plan on a return visit next spring. Love your upbeat positive delivery....so refreshing!
I went to the Munch musem in 2023 and just loved it! I'm bringing my uncle to Norway in 2025 and am so excited to show him all the sites! It will be my 4th time in Norway. Can't wait!
Pål is so full of knowledge - what a great guide! I adore Rick Steves and love seeing how excited he still gets learning about all the history and local culture! This was so wholesome 🥲
What a wonderful video. So nice that you know and are friends with Rick Steves. When I went to Europe, I had his one book with me. I still hope to make another trip back to Norway and it would be so fun if I happen to see you in Oslo. I have loved all your videos and was so excited to see this one today.
Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video! I'm very fortunate that I could spend a day with Rick, he is such an inspiration to me. Hope to see you in Oslo some day
Thank you Pål for your beautiful videos and your advices.Last month my son and I visited Oslo and although it was raining we really adored it!Your videos helped us a lot and although we stayed two days we managed to see quite many places. The cruise was the best! Our intention is to come back back next year.Tusen takk!!!😊
Fun video! Do more like this - so warm. I was in Oslo last summer and sat in the very same park by the tram! I had exactly the same thought as I made friends with a cute dog and its owner -- that people were out and about, enjoying sunshine and community. Vibrant! I found many people willing to chat for a moment, to share their lovely city with an elderly American lady (me!). I, too, enjoyed the Munch museum. I would love to return and spend a week or more in Oslo. I actually think I could live there! :) Thank you!!
Takk Pål for making videos! One day someone may start making videos about spending the day with you 😄touring the city. I think about your channel and Oslo from time to time
Heading to Oslo in April. Actually, looking forward to visiting Norrøna’s Flagship store. You two rule! Great stuff on Norway, all of your videos are a tremendous help.
That's awesome man! If you remember, I have talked here before with plans on going to Norway. I found out my college has a study abroad program in Oslo! So this video will help me out a bit, and I hope I get accepted into the program!
Wow, I'm so glad I found your channel! We're planning a trip to Norway hopefully in 2025 and were looking at doing a Nordic Visitor independent itinerary. But I'm definitely going to contact you for your travel planning expertise.
Victoria is the capital city of the province of British Columbia and is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. There are a number of islands nearby. they are called the Gulf Islands. We can take a ferry to these islands just like Pal and Rick do in Oslo. However the Gulf Islands are rather too big to be walkable unless you have several days to do it in. I think a number of Norwegians settled in this area because it reminded them of home.
The Oslo pass only covers Zone 1 Oslo. From the airport you need several zones, 4,3,2, so you can for instance buy a ticket from the airport to Lillestrøm, and then the Oslo pass will cover you from there (not a big saving though). Most just buy the airport transport seperate and use the Oslo pass only inside of Oslo.
Great video/s Pal (& Steve) - Thanks. I'm visiting Halden from the UK, with work in a few weeks and will have 48 hours at the end of my trip to explore Oslo, so will look to buy the Oslo Pass and Bike pass too! Can you further recommend digital apps for train travel? I will need to get From Oslo Airport to Halden, but then to Oslo for my 48 hour sightseeing too. Also, is there anywhere worth stopping off, on my way from Halden to Oslo, or with just a couple of days sightseeing, am I best to head straight to Oslo? Thanks 👏
Hi there, thanks for watching the video! You can use the Vy app for train travel. www.vy.no/en/travelling-with-us/app I would go straight to Oslo if I was you. Enjoy :)
Pål, Olso changed the city name because it had been named after a Danish King. But why is the main street, Karl Johans Gate, still named after a Swedish King? Why not rename it after King Harald?
Hi Norway with Pål I saw your video. Your video content quality is very good and attractive. But i notice that your subscriber and views is very low. I found some problem of your video. Lovely! It seems the shore has changed so much and I am curious to see the new Munch Museet is, since I loved the old one in Tøyen!!!
Yes it's changed quite a bit!
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.

hehe, Rick got some Norwegian roots so maybe we are :)
Good information 👍
Thank you :)
No visit to the new National Museum? It’s insanely good.
Next time ;)
Dark ages? Maybe. .. In Norway the union with Denmark is often referred to as "The 400 year night".
True, and that's the expression I was looking for, but when filmed on the go sometimes things come out in other ways...
Are the bicycles out in April to rent? As always, great info.
Yep they are!

That’s a good point! Or perhaps take back what was the original name (before Karl Johan) Slottsveien , the castle road
How can I meet rick Steves please reply
Holy shit
Why does no one go see the medieval ruins in the Old Town? Are they really that useless?
I think they are quite nice to see. Especially if you go there with a guide who can explain the history
he is probably the only american i like. 😊

You can walk along the harborfront, and ride the tram #12 #11 to Grünerløkka (Olaf Ryes plass station)
