    I grew up in the Sixties hearing this music almost every night from my Dad's stereo - along with his Opera, Classical, Calypso and R&B

    I can remember in the 50's my mother playing the guitar and
    Singing this. My sisters would
    Join in they would sing
    All evening good ole day's!!

      @@2packs4sure Do you know where i could find a copy of the 1975 self-titled album he had? I can't seem to find a few songs on that album.

      @@goodolcountry7915 I've got it ,, (Ernest Tubb MCA 496 released August 1975),,, but my cut off point for ET is 1968 for the most part so that stuff doesn't appeal to me.
      His voice kept getting weaker and thinner and the same goes for the Troubadours.. What songs are you looking for?

    I'd love to hear Ernest's voice added into the Colter Wall and Tyler Childers version.

      Short , to the point love song , sometimes unrequired love, yes? (Left her behind.)
      But it didn't HAVE to be sung country, beautiful lyrics, beautiful mememorabe melody....
      Colter and Tyler both took the easy way out;
      And their record labels ALWAYS list the Composers names Last? Why is that? Without LAYTON WILLIAM'S
      original, there would never have been all of those "singers of Fraulein." Bet Layton knew how to pronounce "Fraulein" in German, too...and he never followed up on a career IN music.
      RIP Mr. Williams.

      His really WAS great, but he always overdid the FIDDLES!
      Ha, who's gonna aruge with "Sixteen Tons" of Ernest Tub? I swear he said " SweetheartS" that he left behind; duh, would change the meaning of the lyrics quite a bit, wouldn't it ? Did none of these male singers ever consider the other fifty percent of the population, and rewrite the song for THE SWEETHEARTS to sing ? Our father from Germany sang this to us until we made him switch to Shenendoah's "Wide Missouri!"

      A commenter to my song , who was from Germany, said " Fraulein" doesn't mean what the world assums; means
      "a lady of small stature" as in "little lady." Hitler had MANY " frauleins" and they were "BIG Voluptious " ladies!
