Looking good. The Barn Door Design makes it look like the openings are not wide enough for a Car.🤣
Yes I agree, seems on camera to be quite narrow especially as cars seem to be getting evermore wider!!
The doors are a standard width just tall due to automation 👍

I share every bit of your enthusiasm & pride as the project nears completion, looking fantastic. I know it comes down to a personal choice, I would not have gone for paint finish, but let’s wait & see. When we moved to Dorset 4yrs ago we embarked on a major extension to the house. Five month fixed price contract with superb contractors, and excellent architect who carried out our design brief. Brilliant result and no overspend.👍

All looking great as expected, those Accoya doors are awesome and shouldn’t ever move, shrink or expand, best material to use, it’s amazing stuff, they don’t look very wide openings though but sure they are in real life.
We were so looking forward to see you automate them, as it must of taken some thinking how to do it. Not easy outward opening doors. Looking forward to the next one. ❤
They are standard width but look narrow due to being so tall. They needed to be tall for the automation. I’ll explain that when we fit it 👍

Having built a large garage some years ago I can relate to your sense of pride and excitement. With your build I think that natural wood is a better colour than paint finish. The wood should mellow into a soft finish that suits the locality.

Hi, I Work for Accoya and the doors look fantastic, only thing I would have done would have got them painted in the factory before installation. Now they are in make sure they are really dry before applying the paint, great build 👍

Ped, Thanks for the update from San Diego! I was wondering how things were coming along and I’ll bet your glad that things are weather tight now as we get deeper into the Fall.
Everything looks great and your upstairs office will be a great space to work in away from distractions and such. A remarkable transformation!

Looks great ped apart from the the strip of external wood on the front left that sits atop of the adjoining wall. Just doesn’t look right but maybe the camera anglle

@@PetrolPed Nice one dude. You are going to love working up there, and do the 45 mins work 15 mins exercise cycle with the gym/trainer next door and you will be super productive up there too.

Love it! When it's all done it will look as it was there since forever. And that's a great achievement for a 'new' building. The roof is still the masterpiece in my opinion. Automating the doors will be a piece of cake...like that's gonna happen😜.

Such care and craftsmanship! Those doors...and those hinges...just intrigue me.
Over here, we've generally got those tinny-sounding metal things that roll up to the ceiling of a garage. It's weird to have a lovely garage building and then be let down with the tissue-paper that passes for doors...
All of your project's details convey such a sense of place. The traditional hinges on the upstairs doors and all the little touches really make it look lovely.

Looks amazing Pete! The fit and finish is second to none, it really shows how much of time and thought has gone into the build. I did have one question - the latch on the upstairs store cupboard, what’s the reason for having it that way round? Rather than matching the latches on doors to the bathroom / office where the handle faces the main room?
The cupboard doors had to open out. The other two doors had to open in. That determined which side the hinges went on 👍

The kind of place we all dream about. Must have boosted the value of your home. You mentioned money and that you are up to max budget. I don’t suppose you’d be willing to share a rough idea of total costings. 👍🚗
The trick is to spend less on the build than the value it adds to your property. We’ll only know that once it’s finished and we get it valued. I’ll share an indication of cost but it starts with an O and finishes with an MG 😂

As you have very narrow doors compared to modern vehicles, hope your garage door automation arms/rams are high up the doors. The best option would have been sunken motors (or even better wider doors) but they are expensive and a lot more work.
Doors are standard width. They are as high as they are due to the automation being used. Not using side rams 😜👍

It’s been a great project to watch taking shape and is looking fantastic, I’m looking forward to seeing the finished flooring. I’m extremely jealous of your superb ‘man cave’!! …… Personally I think the only thing I might have added is some large black iron hinges, (even if they’re fake) to the garage doors, like you have on the storeroom doors in your gym area. I think it would be in keeping with the traditional look of the building 🤔…

Hi Peter the garage looks fantastic, what are you doing about drainage outside, have you considered putting any acco drains along the front of the garage, I would have also raised the garage floor height by 6 inches just to give it a fighting chance. I don't know if you have ever had flooding in your driveway area before that's all .

Looking great! What is your plan for sound in your office as you get echos when you talk. I appreciate you have no furniture up there, so this will help a lot to absorb the sounds, but for doing voice overs on your video's and various things like that have you thought about or have a solution for that?

The lights either side of the entry door would have been better raised another two planks. In my opinion.
Nice. The doors look a bit narrow Pete, are they wide enough for e.g. a Taycan to drive in?
They are standard width (around 2.2m). Their height makes them look narrow. The Taycan was pretty tight but it’s VERY wide 😂
@@PetrolPed yes that’s a bit tight - a Range Rover is over that at 2.209m width. Smart building though 👍🏻
@@andrewhurstcarsagreed 2.2 standard door is very tight - I built a Cartlodge recently and allowed 2.6 width to allow any car choice
@@quatarmass1 sensible move. Seems silly to risk damaging a car, especially when Pete has a range of modern cars on test. A lot of new ones are 2.1-2.2m + width, and here there is the option of doing a nice 2.5m or even 3.0m door. Even better is to do a double-width door.

Looks fantastic 👌🏻 it just seems a crime to paint the doors rather than varnish or use natural oil. Great move not painting shiplap as we did ours straight after builders left & now have natural colour showing under every panel 😮😂 your build your way top job💯
