As someone who just finished a roll of the Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta, watching your shootout here was really helpful. The Moab is not only nearly identical if not better, but about $40 cheaper on B&H. Plus, as a bonsai guy, I own a couple of juniper trees, so this is gonna be my next choice when I finish printing my series on William Turner. Thanks for the review 🙏🏼

I recently tried the Hahnemuhle Hemp paper and I love it! It's awesome for a Matte paper. (Though I still print on the Juniper as well.)

Don't get mewrong, for THAT SPECIAL IMAGE!, I don't mind doing a few prints to get it perfect but, can you say you can get the results the first-time print, for different photos on both papers consistently without wasting paper & ink? Sounds to me like you had to work harder to talk yourself into liking the Moab paper as much as the Hahnemuhle.

Since I made this video I have printed about 2000 images on the Moab and 100-200 on the Hahnemuhle. Other than the slightly more mat finish of the Moab (which I prefer) there is no difference in the print quality, both are superb.

As best I can tell for a video, I like the Hohnemuhle print a little better.

I actually spent a lot more time and effort after I made this video really tweaking the printing and I can get the Hahnemuhle and the Moab to look exactly like each other depending. The one thing that is different and inherent to the papers is that the Hahnemuhle is slightly more glossy and has a bit of a shine to it and the Moab is a bit more mat. It's 6 of one half dozen of another, otherwise.

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography That's interesting. I'll still buy Hahnemuehle though, because I refuse to buy anything that comes out of Utah if I can avoid it. That's a long story.

@@romiemiller7876 LOL! Oh that sounds like a few beers at the local for sure! Though let me do some research, I think Moab is just a name and the company is owned by Canson and the paper is made somewhere other than Utah. In other words, and I could be wrong, the only connection with Utah is the name.

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography OK, that's interesting. I use Canson papers, but I have an intense dislike for the Mormon Theocracy of Utah. Somebody gave me bad info, I guess. It'd be interesting to know. Thanks.

"Moab is part of the Legion Paper family of products, North America's premier distributor of fine art papers and museum board sourced from mills around the world, is committed to developing innovative products, which empower visual thinkers to share their inspiration.
Legion Paper maintains offices in New York City, Los Angeles and Moab with distribution facilities in Los Angeles and New Jersey. For more information about Legion Paper, visit www.legionpaper.com."
It also says Moab papers was "created in Moab" but if you google maps it, the building is small and shared with other offices, so it looks like just an office. Legion probably bought the company, names and lines, but I doubt any of the manufacturing is done in Utah. So there is some Utah connection, but I'm pretty sure it's just marketing mostly at this point. I vote with my wallet too, I don't blame you. I won't buy Patagonia stuff anymore and I put American flag patches over their brand name on all my jackets...
