    Great review. I just booked the Innside by Melia hotel, but read some reviews saying it’s in a “dangerous area”. Did you feel unsafe in the area outside of the hotel?

    • @letsgetwanderlost

      We didn’t feel unsafe at all.
      Barcelona is one of those major cities where you do need to have some awareness, pick pockets are a real thing but this is common in most touristy areas around the world. The areas around the hotel feel just like the touristy areas of Rome or New York or San Francisco or Dallas or wherever. You’ll have some homelessness and some graffiti and some trash and that sort of thing but for the most part you’re fine and won’t be bothered. If you’re not used to being in major cities you may feel uncomfortable at times as it’ll be different.
      Right next to the hotel there is an old power plant/factory that was turned into an Art installation and when we were there there was a like a farmers market taking place there as well. So there were locals there and it felt like a decent amount of people but they were there to enjoy that stuff, totally safe nothing to worry about.
      You can walk from the hotel to the waterfront and the museums or cathedrals and it feels just like the rest of the areas in and around the gothic quarter of Barcelona. We felt safe, we’d stay there again without any worries.

    About the taxi, from the airport to hotel or the hotel to cruise port did you need to pay tips to the taxi divers ? How many percent ?

    • @letsgetwanderlost

      Europe is a little looser with their tipping. We tip because it’s ingrained into us from working in the service industry for most of our lives. But tipping isn’t expected there it’s more of a bonus. We tipped on both drives. I gave some euro coins on the way from the airport to the hotel and I tipped in the Uber app from the hotel to the cruise port. I believe it was around 10%

      Do you think we can order a taxi from the hotel to the port at the hotel reception without using the Uber application?

    • @cyleung6048

      Did the taxi accept cash?

    • @letsgetwanderlost

      @cyleung6048 yes. We’ve done this in Europe. We’ve had hotels call us black cars and taxis and they’ve always been super helpful with those requests. There’s also plenty of taxis driving around that area of Barcelona that you can also flag them down if needed.

    • @letsgetwanderlost

      That depends on the taxi driver and their company, it was about 50/50 in our experience. Some preferred taking Euros, others said no cash only card. That would be a question I’d ask the driver specifically when you reserve it.

    Is taxi the only option it did they also gave Uber?

    • @letsgetwanderlost

      You can Uber in Barcelona but it’s incredibly unreliable. We were left waiting for close to an hour or more at times as drivers would not pick up or cancel rides. You can order regular taxis in the Uber app and it was far easier to get a ride.

      @@letsgetwanderlostthey probably has the same mentality as these in NYC; if the ride is a short one, they will not show up or cancel. I was told this by an Uber driver. Happened to me because I live close to airport
