Refs were the only reason Kentucky could stay close. Good job K State. You beat Kentucky AND the officials.

No 4 seeds left, 16 seed upsets 1 seed, 3 9 seeds or higher are in the Elite eight, Loyola has a 4 point margin in wins, it’s crazy
Enjoyable. So much fun this year. My team is never a factor so I get to enjoy all of them!

As a K-State fan. This is about the 8th time I've watched this.
Not a K-State fan but I just rooted for the first-ever 9v11 matchup to happen, and I've watched this many times.
Based on how close #9 K-State's victory was over #16 UMBC, people were saying #9 K-State would get crushed by #5 Kentucky.

southrules obviously I wasn't around before 1980, however I have followed the ncaa tournament since the Jason Kidd, Lamond Murray Cal teams and off the top o don't remember this many upsets but I do agree with the comment section about the match ups this year
K-State should get credit for two wins, seeing as they beat both Kentucky and the refs. Gotta love how these highlights only show about 3 or 4 fouls called on them when it was actually more than any other team in this tournament.

Wow. That was a good game.
so many ridiculous foul calls on kstate... Especially the one that sent Sneed out. How can a ref call a foul on almost no contact to make a guy foul out, when he is the leading scorer and the last big man for kstate?? I can accept those kinds of calls most of the game, but under 2 minutes? so frustrating to watch

Always a pleasure to watch a Coach Honest John team fail. This wasn't an all Wildcats game because Kentucky's men's basketball team is now named the One-And-Dones.

My favorite part was seeing the sorrow and disappointment slowly eat away at the cheerleaders each time K State made a big play.
I'm a Kentucky fan but I don't make excuses. K-State just flatly outplayed Kentucky in this game from go to woe. From the start of the game, K-State came out pumped and ready to rock, and put Kentucky back on their heels from jump. Credit to K-State for doing that, because it had Kentucky playing catch-up basketball all night long. That said, any who followed Kentucky last season knows that all season long this was an average at best team. It wasn't nearly as loaded as several of Cal's other teams have been at UK. It was partly due to Cal not getting a couple key recruits that he wanted that he thought he might get because he had been recruiting them hard, but that's basketball, and Cal knows that as well as anyone. This team was carried pretty much the entire season by Knox & Alexander, with not a lot of contributions coming from anyone else in the starting line-up or the bench. I would add, for those who remember how the bracket for this region was set up by the selection committee, Kentucky wasn't even supposed to be there playing K-State that night. Their intent was for Kentucky to get knocked out in the second round by #2 seed Arizona. But the committee didn't count on Buffalo jumping in and spoiling that party, so the Kentucky vs. Arizona match-up in the second round never materialized. That's why I say with this team, even getting to the Sweet Sixteen was gravy for them, IMO.

Got rid of your precious Big Blue, and they exceeded everyone's expectations. They were picked to be 8th in the Big 12 and finished 4th and all of them are 3-star players or transfers. Also, not a single senior. They did incredible for the circumstances.

Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot refs made it a sloppy game. It’s the only reason Kstate was even able to stay close to UK’s talent. Kstate isn’t a good team and hit threes they don’t normally make.

Why is everyone overlooking FSU... maybe it's because I'm a Gators fan and I want them to lose, but they look scary right now. They'll run Michigan off the 3-point line all night like they did to Gonzaga. Hope Michigan wins though. K-State wasn't even taken seriously as a Sweet 16 team coming in - everyone thought they were just the beneficiary of the UMBC upset. I think out of the final 16 teams even though they weren't the lowest seeded, they were the least-regarded. I don't think anyone even expected them to be competitive in this game, let alone win it.

I actually think because of the 2014 Round of 64 matchup in St. Louis. One reason why I thought this game could have went either way (despite UK’s athleticism and length) was because of that game, Kansas State’s disruptive defense (similar to SEC’s South Carolina) as well as the fact Kentucky was playing on familiar turf (Atlanta). Sometimes playing close to home can put pressure on the nearby team.
My grandpa played for kstate during that game..only basketball championship kstate has ever had

Going into the game, i thought it could have went either way because even though Kentucky had all the athleticism on both ends, i thought it would be a coin flip (reasons below)
1. Last time Bruce Weber and John Calipari met was a Round of 64 game (2014)
2. That Round of 64 meeting was in St. Louis, which was where Bruce Weber's Illinois team made the 2005 Final Four.
3. This game was in Atlanta (SEC country), and to tie #2 into this point, sometimes when you play a tournament game on familiar turf, the chances of success can go against you
4. Lastly, Kansas St's style (defensively) like Seth Greenberg said after the game was reminiscent of when Kentucky played South Carolina who beat them in Columbia during the SEC season.
