Lydon and several others saw this monster for what he was. I remember Alan Wilder formerly of Depeche Mode, talking about how he witnessed Savile groping young girls in the open. I’m so amazed at how this disgusting man was able to do these awful things and get away with it. I guess having powerful friends helps. I remember watching another doc about Mountbatten, a friend of Saviles’ (🤯) and Kincora orphanage being mentioned. Shocking and so awful. My heart goes out to all the victims who suffered and continue to deal with the trauma. I’m so very sorry.

In the very early '90s I was living in Manchester with an aspiring actress. We went out for a drink with a low level BBC producer. My girlfriend asked her "so whats the gossip in the BBC" and after some cajoling she replied "OK, as your a woman and it might effect you...never be alone with Dave lee Travis and one day it will all come out about Jimmy Saville". She wouldnt go into more detail but I remember it being quite chilling the way she said it.
If a low level producer knew in 1990, they all knew.

I think in this case you're right, but you're wrong about high level as a rule knowing more than low level. I've seen some low level anything seeing through situations where people are involved. Specially some women. The difference is that nobody listens to them and call it gossip.

    • @Aerojet01
      @Aerojet01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +60

@@harrynac6017 I think it goes a lot deeper than just gossip. According to a lot of testimonies, it was common knowledge in the industry Jimmy was up to know good, even higher up the food chain at the BBC. Jimmy knew a lot of influential people, which gave him a lot of clout. Also, I think there were celebs more concerned with the damage it could do to their careers if they were to follow up allegations. Johnny Rotten summed it up perfectly!

    • @harrynac6017

@@Aerojet01 Uh...yeah...I said if low level women see through situations and talk about it, they CALL it gossip, not that it IS gossip. In fact, studies show that, although women talk a lot more about people than men do, they only gossip slightly more. And men gossip far more cruel than women do. (In general ofcourse. This says nothing about a specific individual).
Once I heard it happening on the radio in one day. The morning news "There's a lot of harrassment on Facebook, most victims are women, most perpetrators are men". The afternoon news "There's a lot of harrassment on Facebook, most victims are women". An evening talkshow 2 men talking "There's a lot of harrassment on Facebook, most victims are women. • @ScoobyDoozy
      @ScoobyDoozy ปีที่แล้ว +71

      Mate- I am so sorry.
In case you need to hear this tonight:
It wasn’t. Your. Fault. You were a child- there is nothing you could have done.
You are not, and were never dirty, disgusting, bad, or any other similar adjective.
You did not ever, ever deserve it.
You did and do deserve safety; love; protection; healing; peace; joy; purpose; hope; meaning; connection; relationships; support; friendship; *love*.
The abuse is zero reflection of your own sexuality. Whether they were male or female, it is *of no reflection of your sexuality*.
It only reflects the sexuality of the ab/user .
If someone tries to poke you in the eye, your biology is instantly designed to make you blink/close your eyes and protect your sight.
Our bodies do the same thing in response to sexual assau/lt and abu/se.
Girls and womens bodies will lubricate and even orgasm as it reduces the likelihood of the body sustaining greater physical trauma during the assa/ult such as tearing.
For men and boys, they will typically have erections and also may orgasm, again it’s all driven by our amygdala (the lizard part of our brain developed over evolution from over 200 million years ago) recognising that there is a great threat and attempting to reduce the likelihood of sustaining further injury, again things such as tears etc.
But it’s also just a purely physiological response. It means nothing more than to attest to the fact that we have a functioning central and peripheral nervous system which recognises (much like our eye if someone tries to poke our eye) that there is a stimuli. Our body doesn’t know much beyond that. It has no meaning, how our bodies respond to abu/se and assa/ult than to simply be proof that we’re not quadriplegics, and our spinal cord is intact.
I don’t know what country you live in but I’d love for today to be the day that when you wake up, you grab the same phone you’re using to watch this video, and make some calls.
First, to a hotline specifically for sexual abu/se and assa/ult survivors. It’s not to report it, it’s not to go to police, but rather it’s for you to be able to say to someone who understands, in total confidentiality, I am hurting
And the second call I would love for you to make is to a hotline for people struggling with drinking and alcoholism.
There’s so many alternatives to AA. I would really encourage you look into a SMART recovery (self management and recovery training) program/support; they’ve got a wonderful evidence base behind them, a better evidence base than AA.
But the important thing is to start; you can always iron out the details, experiment to find which approach works better for you.
      Progress over perfection.
You are loved mate, . You’re important. You matter. Your life holds a greater purpose and path. You were failed, and for that I’m so sorry.
But you’re still here. Still battling, don’t underestimate your own strength and courage, to make it this far, in spite of it all.
I have no doubt that you possess the strength to enter recovery for the trauma and pain you’ve endured, as well as for a symptom of that trauma- the drinking - and to be able to truly begin your life, to live a life with the purpose, dreams, hope, peace, and daily moments of joy.
I know someone with your strength can achieve all that and more- but not alone, and not without professional support.
Finally I don’t know if this thought will bring you any peace or not- but every seven years every single cell in our bodies- from the cells in our skin, our heart, our eyes, every last one- has been completely regenerated and replaced, born anew. All that to say that there will always come a time where our bodies have never so much as been touched by the person who harmed us. It’s small, but a thought which brings me a little peace.
With love, respect, admiration, and full belief that today you can begin walking towards the life you’ve dreamed of but which until now has been a little out of reach.
That’s the beauty of every new day. It’s an opportunity to begin again. Start anew. A new sunrise and sunset to paint.
(P.s I also highly recommend the Australian series ‘Addicted Australia’ it explores all of these themes, within an amazing recovery model).
Big love mate. Never forget that someone somewhere cares about you; even a random Aussie on the internet

A young woman is devastated when the male who raped her was not prosecuted as it would have denied him the chance of a US scholarship. So if a male under 25 in Scotland where they wanted to put a male rapist in a dress in a women's jail. Nothing has changed. Continuing to bash a dead man is not helping rape victims today.

Don't really remember much after that but the police didn't give two shits about it. Never got questioned in the hospital, went to the police and gave a statement.....never heard back from them. They didn't even try and catch the guy. Had I told them that I was gay and it was a hate crime then I guarantee they'd have put 4 detectives on the case.....
Needless to say I'm not confident that the police will ever help you when you need it.
I also got jumped by the police once because I matched a description of someone they were looking for. I was blindsided, smashed onto the floor, thrown up against a wall (cutting my head) and cuffed before they even asked me who I was. When they let me go they didn't even apologize. And I've got no police record (apart from a caution for possession 15 years ago)

Then I came down and read your comment. Honey my heart goes out to you as my dear beautiful cousin went through trafficking at an early age as she lived in England and the rest of the family we live in NZ. We didn't know as her mother told her that she didn't have any family. It wasn't until my Dad and I went searching for family over in England that we found out. So my Dad went searching for her. It's a long story but we found her and we got her out. Through private detectives. So I understand the challenges that you my love have gone through and still going through as my cousin has gone through so much. We were there to support her and keep her close to our family. It was an absolutely shock to us what she had gone through. With the help of treatment she has come out the other side. Bless her. But now she is married with a beautiful daughter living in the country in England and happy. I hope all is well with you honey and I want you to know that you are so brave for speaking out. It takes guts and you have it. You have a strength within you love. Plus I want you to know that you are LOVED 🥰 and you are Awesome. 👏 Much love ❤️ and blessings 🙏 honey and I wish you all the best. In 1979 I had a child, my son wasn't well when born and was taken to our "local" hospital (20 miles away!). He was in a side room and I slept on a camp bed in the same room. That's the best the NHS could do for me back then. I was allowed to eat at staff canteen. The hospital was Stoke Mandeville! One time I'd gone for food Savile was behind me in the queue giving it the big "I am" go the kitchen staff. I got my food and sat on my own at a newly vacated table. Savile then came to same table and asked if he could join me. I said NO! I believe that one word saved me from harm. I was 23 and he just "creeped me out". A couple of days later I went to the Visitor's Cafeteria, he was in there serving. He made comment as I ordered, about me not wanting to sit with him!! Loud enough to be embarrassing. Like I'd rejected him....the big man that he was. I'm so glad I did. May he forever rot in hell. One small but strange thing that I have not seen many people mention is that Savile always tried to get things for free. I live in a town that he would occasionally stop off at frequently when he travelled up to his house in glencoe. He would visit the fish and chips shop, always trying to be the centre of attention. boasting about owning property all over the Uk, wearing gold jewellery etc and every single time he would try and get his meal for free with promises of bringing records on his next journey through the town. He never ever brought any of the things he promised and over time most of the locals regarded him as strange and as a scrounge. I also spoke to someone in leeds a few years ago who said he was well known for this.

So I was always weary of him. Met him in an alley once as a child. He made it impossible to pass so I turned and ran in the opposite direction. This was about 1972. That adults did not speak up or were blind to it is incredible to me.

That day savile died he was being spoke about on the news as if he was a saint. This guy told me one of his rugby mates was a copper in and they repeatedly stopped savile noncing up kids in a rolls royce round hyde park (leeds). He was picking up kids and raping them. Whenever they tried to have him done for it somebody above them made sure it was dropped and no action was taken....I wasnt sure if he was talking bollocks or not at the time or rather wondered if his rugby mate was full of shit since he wasnt the sort of man to lie.
Eventually of course, everything came out and i thought back to this conversation and how messed up it was that it was common knowledge and that the police/bbc/anybody in power just allowed it to happen.

It's called 'The Establishment' and they take care of their own. Jimmy Saville was a monster and now he's a very convenient distraction, all the people who were in positions of power should be brought to account but they are slipping away quietly whilst we hang out Saville. If you wonder if it could happen again we need only look at how Tony Blair has gotten away with crimes against humanity, look how Jeremy Corbyn has been neutralised. How protests against the coronation were handled, and any kind of protest is being legislated against.

How he managed to get away w/ this was an uncanny ability to hustle people & the right people. With his ridiculous Dutch boy hair do, his facial appearance that resembled Marty Feldman’s character in Young Frankenstein, and his loud tacky style of dress, it’s plainly obvious this man was more than up to no good. He was a master at covering his tracks. This was an era where society was sort of thrown to the wolves. There weren’t the same boundaries we have now. My father was a doctor at Leeds General Infirmary back when Savile was a porter. He always described him as 'slightly annoying but, to be fair, very hard working'. However, my dad told me a couple of stories long, long before any of these revelations ever emerged . One was a Sister on one of the children's wards and she was, to put it bluntly, very attractive. One night she stormed into the main office area and simply stated that Savile was not to go on their ward ever again. What actually occurred (be it against her or a child) was never revealed but as Sisters ruled the roost her demands were met and Savile effectively banned from her ward. The second was Savile would always cheekily and chirpily ask whenever he saw them with his catchphrase "Now then, now then doctors... got any dead uns???" Now one of Savile's duties as a porter was to take newly deceased bodies to the mortuary so there wasn't anything initially sinister in him asking this. But after watching Sean's video both my dad's stories take on a much more chilling hue.

He came into the office to sign a contract for the radio station I worked for in the 80s. My Assistant and I already couldn't stand him but knew we had to stay with Management to meet him. When he came into the room with the MD I immediately felt a dark atmosphere - and then I was introduced to him. I held out my hand to shake his & he took it, turned it so my palm faced upward and then proceeded to lick the palm and then my bare arm upwards to my shoulder - in front of the MD, Finance Director and my Assistant. I pulled my arm back and left the room so that I could immediately wash his disgusting saliva from me. Later that day my friend told me he had put his hand up her skirt whilst they were taking publicity shots outside the building - she told him he was disgusting little man and left the shoot. Two women within an hour had been assaulted. I never laid eyes on him again. Around the same time people in the industry (particularly the Press side) were talking about Rolf Harris and his behaviour but, again, it took years before his criminal acts came into the public forum to be addressed.

Saville kept going on about how difficult it is to convey to people what it's like to have "absolute power", to be able to have anything one wishes. In light of what he was doing and got away with, it's both disturbing and maddening.

His father was very seldom mentioned, whereas his mother he openly worshipped & always talked about . His brother is a convicted pe*ophile. All the psych research states it's very often learnt behaviour. A child who grows up in abuse can sometimes become desensitised & see it as a norm they model & repeat. Or they repeat it to try & avid their victimhood & take back their lost power.

I was part of a childrens club that were asked to attend a televised event that Saville would be presenting. It was a club set up specifically for kids from vulnerable & deprived backgrounds. This would have been mid-late 80s. I was very young and even back then knew there was something not right about him. I loved Jim’ll fix it & top of the pops but would hide my face or turn away so that I couldn’t see him when he was on screen. He gave me serious child catcher from chitty chitty bang bang vibes. The organisation made a big deal about the club getting to meet him. I was chosen to represent the club. I was a bit of a disruptive kid. When I was told off I was repeatedly told “don’t you want to meet Jimmy Saville?” and it was held up as some sort of golden carrot reward for good behaviour. I did not want to meet Saville. Eventually I was so disruptive (deliberately at this point) that I was asked not to attend the event. I was very relieved for reasons that I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I realised how easy it would have been for these types of monsters to gain access to vulnerable kids and it terrified me. There were clubs and organisations all over England for children from these backgrounds and it makes me feel sick that there were probably thousands of kids in the network caught up in this & the monsters involved were well aware of how easy it would have been to take advantage of that.

Hello Shaun. I have commented on this before sometime last year and spent Saturday night watching this for the second time. This is a sterling piece of work. Your narration and presentation is first class. You speak with clarity and accuracy. As a non-native English speaker, I find this quite easy to listen to from a language perspective and incredibly interesting but disturbing from another. Well done. This is a beautifully edited documentary and probably the best I’ve ever seen on this particular monstrous human being.

I remember hearing other celebrities talk about admiring him right up until he was exposed. Yeah he was incredibly prolific in his abuse and sadly incredibly well connected and protected. Back in 1979, or so, John Lyden in a radio interview strongly suggested something disturbing about Savile, but couldn't go further. He just said that many people know about Savile and expressed disgust. It must have been maddening for people who knew what he was doing - let alone his victims - but, like Lyden, couldn't go up against Jimmy Savile and not be all round annihilated.

I worked in Hollywood for almost 20 years...When it was still producing product worth investing your time and effort...I worked on some huge productions and mingled amongst the people involved....What I realized was shocking to say the least...I got out and have never looked back...With a resume I see as almost useless...
There is a phenomenon with "celebrity" that is completely detached from regular everyday life...They are offered everything almost on a silver platter depending on the "grade" of celebrity they exist within...Clothing companies and footwear companies and automobile companies ,etc. solicit celebrity culture with piles of free merchandise...Women and men throw themselves at these people in a way that is almost unnatural...They enter clubs and venues through the side door...They are members of private clubs that you would never know existed if you were not privy to such establishments through celebrity contact...
They mostly only associate with each other and rarely stray outside of the boundaries of celebrity culture...They get paid enormous amounts of cash and seemingly rarely have to pay for anything...Within reason of course...
You think at first as you approach this environment that the reason they are in the prominent position they are afforded is because they are the most talented and most intellectual to gain such prestige in society...The shocking realization in many cases is the opposite...They are the most aggressive , the most narcissistic and in some cases the most sociopathic of all members of western culture...They basically will cut your arms off to gain and control the position they are in....And that esteemed position is tenuous at best and could be referred to as "hanging by a thread" in some cases....And they know it...They are "picked"...And the process of being "picked" is akin to almost cult like initiation...Once you accept the money you are expected to do as you are told with the chance of losing your status always hanging precariously in the balance...
I could go on forever but this just TH-cam comments...Celebrity is a somewhat lonely , transient existence...
