great interview. her comments about failure is good. But, sometimes the manager you work for is not capable of supporting you or is not a mentor to help you leverage your career in any capacity nor has the skills. In that perspective you have to make sure you carefully choose the right manager vs. the job. I had a good job but the manager was a disaster. In that case, pick people wisely to work with and for. there is still so much sexism but her story shows that with good mentors & people women can make it to the top. You have to be around competent confident people. The rest will follow.

I worked in 4 companies in my country , 2 local and 2 international, When I started I packed boxes when I left the last company I was their Lead Lab Technician in the Quality Assurance Department, Yes I put myself way above self and invested in the company, I'm retired and now serving the public in charitable events with the ROTARY CLUBS delivering wheelchairs, That building of blocks to make a house after you have laid a foundation amazing I'm inspired,❤❤

Focus on what you are doing is good advice. I was suddenly with folks who focused on a dream and not what was right there for them to do. The word dream can sometimes be lost in transition. Remember fondly how our maids did such a good job at home and today I hear they went on to graduate and get jobs and therefore break the blue collared life cycle and have joined the middle class in India

I don't like the title "an Indian immigrant". Well, there are smart people around the globe and it doesn't come down to their culture or language when intellectual abilities are concerned. I find this title really offensive.
