    I really loved this video, I have fallen in love with your channel! I love goats, we live in Wales UK we are surrounded by lambs and goats, my youngest son Harry has a nick name because goats follow him everywhere, he ends up with them all behind him people were gob smacked and the only reason they believe is because Harry is autistic, he has always been very quiet that maybe a reason I am not sure! I am going to watch your other births! I am so excited to see more videos from you! ❤

    Thanks for the video! I recently started a channel and I have a bunch of does due in about a week. I'm excited for babies! I've been doing a ton of research and that's how I found your channel! Do you have any more goats due soon?

    Seems like the lamachas (spelling?) have much easier births than the dwarf goats.

    • @EweGoatToBeKidding
      @EweGoatToBeKidding  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t know. It’s possible, but I truly think the number of all goats that have smooth births is very high. The dramatic births just make better tv. It is possible that the smaller goats do have more trouble, but proper minerals and nutrition likely play a key role. And may be quicker to cause trouble in a smaller goat if they are off.

      There is a depth on a standard goat that seems to be helpful in making room for babies to get positioned more ideally. Breeding for width and depth helps all breeds birth more easily! :)

    5.5 lbs is big for like a Nigerian, is it huge for mini Lamanchas?! I have NO gague for this because our nigerians are all typially pretty big. What generation is Cedar and her baby? Do you know how much % of Nigerian they are?

    • @EweGoatToBeKidding
      @EweGoatToBeKidding  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it's pretty big! I don't often weigh the babies because I don't need to, but he is significantly bigger than I've seen before. I checked my records from last year. Ivy had quads so I bottle fed a few of them and they were 4.4lbs at 4 days old. Tansy's quints this year were right around 3. Although our bottle buckling we brought in last year was bigger. We've had single doelings before and they weren't nearly this big, but I didn't weigh them either.
      I don't know what Ivy's percentages are because I don't have her official paperwork, but I think she's very close to 50/50. Cedar's sire was 53 LM/47 ND so that makes her slightly more. The sire for this buckling is 66 LM/ 34 ND. That would make this big guy roughly 58 LM/ 42 ND.
      I was wondering how much of a difference that would make and this was the perfect storm for a big baby. A slightly larger buck and a single buckling, but I'm so thankful all went well. I had asked a stable near you for advice about the % difference and they said proper nutrition plays a far larger role than the % difference.

      @@EweGoatToBeKidding thank you!! We are having F2s born in a couple weeks and I'm exited but so nervous as well! I waited for mom to be 80lbs before breeding, but still!

      I’ve bred yearlings a few years now and this year’s are the does left to kid. I’m having a pretty rough weekend with my yearling lambs this weekend 😔 which makes me a little nervous for the goats to kid. I’m seriously debating never doing yearlings again and being sure to wait the year. I don’t know.

      @@EweGoatToBeKidding hugs!!! It can be tricky but I know a few breeders that wait until they are going to kid at age 2 instead of 1. It's like a fail safe. Breezy was huge so I went for it. Still nervous. Hugs about the sheep... ❤️

    They are so cute it took me awhile to get used to the ear thing with La Manchas but now I find them adorable. I would add farm grade iodine to your birth box if you don't already - good for spraying or dipping babies cords both kids and lambs to keep down infection that causes joint ill. Otherwise looks like you have things covered pretty well! Congrats on all the new babies I hope they are all continuing to do well ... catching up here as a new sub. :)

    • @EweGoatToBeKidding
      @EweGoatToBeKidding  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you and thanks for subscribing! I do have iodine on hand, but I don't often use it. I know lots of people do and lots don't. I'm not opposed to it, but haven't seen a need for it either. I only have a few years under my belt though, so I'll keep researching and learning. All the babies have done great this year and the ones we retained are getting big quickly!

    • @EweGoatToBeKidding
      @EweGoatToBeKidding  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s their breed. They are mini Lamanchas and Lamanchas are known for their tiny outer ears. They can totally hear and do have complete inner ears.

    So informative thank you. Do you have a video Ty’s you go over the process of preparing for birth, drying birth, and after care? Like do you pull the kids and bottle feed, or let the nurse for a certain time, and when do you start milking again.

    • @EweGoatToBeKidding
      @EweGoatToBeKidding  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t have an after birth video on it’s own. Some of that would be included in each birth video, but after care is a good idea! We keep all kids with mama unless there’s a reason. We had quintuplets this season 😱 So I pulled 2 to bottle feed because mama can’t effectively feed that many with only 2 teats. We start at milking at two weeks after kidding. I do have a recent video where I trained my two newest goats at the two week mark. Thanks so much for watching!
