  • This video "Hiran Minar Sheikhupura, complete history and visit" is uploaded by FunCar. It is one of the gigantically beautiful historical monuments of the Punjab.
The Mughals were strange rulers. In anger they would bury live Anarkali in the wall. In love they would build such a magnificent Minar for a dead deer. Very correctly you've guessed, today we are going to visit Hiran Minar, Sheikhupura. Hiran Minar is situated in the Sheikhupura of Shekhu or Shehzada Saleem or Shehnsha Jehangir. The first name of Sheikhupura is Jehangirpura as it was founded by Shehnsha Jehangir. In the reign of Jehangir, during 1605 to 1627, Sheikhupura was the royal hunting resort.
Whenever the weather is moderate or pleasant, as it is now, in September October or March April, it is the high time to visit Middle Punjab, south Punjab, Balochistan or Sindh. Winter means to enjoy snowfall and summer always says, Tum chalay aow paharron kinqasam'.
Coming back to Hiran Minar it was built with the orders of Shehnsha Jehangir under the supervision of Sikandar Moin in the memory of his beloved antelope 'Mans Raj' in 1607 AD. The grave stone engraved in the shape of antelope was erected at its burial place by the order of Jehangir as recorded in the 'Tuzk e Jehangir '. A stone tablet, inscribed by Mulla Muhammad Hussain Kashmiri, the chief of the elegant calligraphers of the day, with following lines was fixed on the Minar, 'In this enchanting place, an antelope came in the world, holding the net of the God knowing ruler, Nurud din Jehangir Badshah. In the duration of one month, having overcome its desert fierceness, it became the head of the special antelopes.' The Minar is circular in shape and tapers towards the top, which is flat, with a parapet wall. The Minar is 103 feet high.
Facing the grand Minar on the east side is a great artificial lake with a causeway leading to a octagonal Baradari in its center. The Baradari was built with the orders of Jehangir in 1620 AD. There is a square pavilion at each corner with a gateway to the Baradari. A small canal was cut from the 'Aik rivulet' and connected to the lake at its north west corner. In addition, an elaborate system for filling up the tank with rain water from the catchment area was devised.
The buildings built by the Mughals are not buildings but these are the signs of their grandeur. They show their aesthetic sense. These are the miracles of architecture. And they tell the stories of golden days of the Muslims of Subcontinent.
Visitors may enjoy its visit from morning to late evening with friends and family and years after they would cherish these memories. Some dirty people damage the beauty of this historical heritage by writing their names on walls and throwing wrappers in the grounds. It's not a good practice. All of us should avoid it and stop others to do so.
Till some other good video, good bye. Thanks for watching. Pakistan Zinda Baad!
