    Hi Doug (from another Doug in the UK)
    Just come to your channel and have been hooked on the original trailer build up to this point. You have created an amazing work platform from an empty shell and one which any production house would not only be proud of but might struggle to emulate in terms of quality and sophistication. Watching the series one after another showed the strain you appeared to be under building this and the sheer drive and determination you show to bring it all to fruition to a comparatively limited budget and (apart from you ever present friends), alone.
    A massive project by most small company standards and easily matching the big players in terms of sophistication.
    I’m going to be working through the rest of your videos to watch the companies development and your incredible knowledge. I may even be able to absorb some of the info into my ever more feeble brain. I wish you well and greater success as I work my way up to the present and hopefully the future as well. My only regret is that I’m only discovering this years after you did it but it’s all still relevant to most companies today.
    Best wishes from the UK
    Doug

    Holy shit. Hype! I remember watching this series start last year, thinking it'd be absolutely awesome. And I still underestimated it. Thank you for sharing your journey so far, Doug!

    Who dislike a video like this? This is a dream come true for anyone and most specially for a person who put a lot of effort on making his dream come true. Who dislike a video like this has nothing else but envy. Congratulations, dude. Great job, great channel.

    Big congrats Doug! So nice to see the trailer finally done. Thanks for all the vids, been a pleasure following your progress, since the start. Well done sir! Looks awesome, love the finish and details. Big high five from Denmark. Looking forward to see some videos of the trailer at work.

    I used to work for a facilities house where they did a huge refit. It all work fine, except for the AC. Supposed to blow cooled air through the racks, but ended up blowing cold air over the operators! We used to work in duffles.

    Absolutely fantastic job @doug Johnson not to sound like i am trying to pretend to be a prophet but when you did the first video I knew what your vision was and had a pretty good idea what the end result was gonna look like, probably because my design is very similar! no, the exact same but similar. Not that I have the $$$ to pull it off at this time. And you have solved some issues for routing and intercom, display layout, wiring and patching the data/ audio, video, and coms distribution is very complex and yet when you explained it, it made excellent sense

    Looks fantastic Doug! Also the TF series of Yamaha mixers are awesome mixers. I use the TF5 at my school and its really capable. My favorite feature about it is all the Aux outputs. There are a lot of them which makes it great for video and they are easy to set.

    That trailer looks so sick. Would love to have built my own. Just wondering, do you think you would ever substitute ptz cameras in for a live cameraman? What situations would and wouldn’t you?

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They each have their own pros and cons. Human operators can react to things going on and reposition the camera much faster than can be done with PTZs. A good PTZ, on the other hand, can be a lot more smooth in its movements, and can repeat the same movement over and over exactly. PTZs can go places that operators can't, whether that be due to space or safety issues, or to put a camera somewhere where it might be awkward to put a person (e.g. on stage at a concert). But you still have to hire someone to run a PTZ (sometimes they can do more than one at a time, though it is pretty tricky) so you might not be reducing the size of the crew. And the image quality on a PTZ compared to a comparably priced camcorder is generally quite poor. The Sony SRG-300SE that I use is about $2800, and for the same price one could get a PXW-Z90, which has image quality that is far superior -- and it shoots 4K. To get similar image quality in a PTZ you have to step up to the Sony BRC-X1000, which is about four times the price.
      I probably use my PTZs for about one out of three events. And mostly in situations where it is just impractical to put an operator somewhere, or for angles that I'm just not going to use very often so it doesn't make sense to hire someone to run a camera there. They're nice to have, but far from essential, and usually don't suitably replace a real operator.

    Congratulations on completing the construction site.! I have a question: a mixer from blakmagic is a good choice for multi-camera shooting and on-line broadcasting?
    with Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini The recorder can be used for on-line broadcasting with the switcher blackmagic

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Blackmagic Design switchers are quite popular, and I've really liked the three models I've owned.
      The UltraStudio Mini can be used with some encoder software. With the right software you'll be able to stream online. Personally I prefer dedicated hardware encoders so I'm not tying up a computer, but both software-based and hardware-based encoders can work well.

    clearly, but how does he work the teradek? without delay? reliable this teradek? just over 720p is afraid not pull. or not so?

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The HDMI output of my ATEM switcher goes into the Teradek VidiU, which then encodes the video and uploads it to any of the online services like TH-cam, Facebook, or pretty much any other. It connects with either Ethernet (preferred) or WiFi. It's very easy to use -- much easier than using software on a computer. It supports resolutions and frame rates from Standard Definition up through 1080p60. djp.li/vidiu

  • @azatakmatov1440
    @azatakmatov1440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    thank you very much for the answer. and how do you broadcast to the Internet. Do you use web presenter from blackmagic?

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the Teradek VidiU and VidiU Pro products.
      The Web Presenter doesn't work for me -- I need more than 720p resolution, and I don't want to tie up a computer doing just video encoding. So a hardware encoder is the best option in my situation.

  • @yprimi
    @yprimi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    have you taken in mind buying midas m32 .. there does exist a rack version, much better for live, audio quality also good, it has the the midas preamps ...

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they supported Dante fully I’d consider it, but they don’t even have their own Dante stage box, so it really isn’t even an option for me.

    • @ArahoMan

      There is a fairly cheap Dante-card available for the M32 / X32-series.

    Thank you, I can not understand why it's fresh. z150 or z190? Just the quality of the picture varies greatly, z90 is better than z150-190. Or they were released later z 90

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Z90 and Z150 are very, very similar. The Z90 has a better autofocus system, and S-Log/S-Gamut, but the picture quality will otherwise be identical, as the use sensors that are more or less the same. I prefer the Z150 in most cases because it has dedicated controls for zoom, focus, and iris, where the Z90 only has a single ring that you toggle between focus and iris, but sometimes the smaller size of the Z90 is what I need.
      The Z190 is a different camera. Instead of a single sensor, it uses three separate sensors for red, green, and blue. This technically gives it slightly better resolution and color accuracy. But its sensors are about 1/8 the size of the sensor in the Z150/Z90, so it isn't going to be quite as good in low light conditions, and it won't be capable of giving you much background blur in any situation. But the Z190 has a variable electronic neutral density filter, can shoot 60 fps in 4K, and the zoom has more than twice the reach. They are different cameras meant for different applications, and can't be compared directly.
      Your best bet is to speak with a Sony sales representative to discuss your needs so they can help you choose the right camera for your situation.

    What do you use for video playback and CGs?

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For playback, one of several options: a HyperDeck Studio (Mini or Pro), a computer running Premiere Pro playing right off the timeline, CasparCG, or VLC.
      For CG, usually my own software. But it varies by the job.

    Hello, which camera is better than sony z150 or sony nx5?

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally speaking, the Z150 is better in most ways. But it depends on your needs.
      The Z150 is 4K, the NX5 is 1080p. Optical zoom on the Z150 is 12X (extended out to 18X-24X with Clear Image Zoom), vs 20X (40X with Clear Image Zoom) on the NX5. The Z150 has a much larger sensor, at 1", whereas the NX5's is much smaller at 1/2.8". The Z150 uses a single sensor, and the NX5 uses three individual sensors. My gut tells me that the Z150 is better in low light, but it's really difficult to be sure without doing a real-world comparison.
      Even though they look similar, they're actually fairly different. The one you choose is going to depend on the application.

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should also mention that the NX5 has been discontinued. And the camera actually most similar to the NX5 is actually the PXW-Z190, not the Z150, so if the features of the NX5 sound appealing, I'd consider getting the Z190 instead.

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. It was produced hastily when I had the time to do so. I couldn't tell it was out of focus from the small LCD on the camera, and I didn't want to take the time to reshoot. The promotional videos which will be coming soon will give you a much better look.

    PTZoptics cameras

    • @djp_video
      @djp_video  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems as though the PTZ Optics solutions don't offer the degree of control I need. The speed controls aren't quite as granular as what I'm looking for. My Sony cameras will operate at anywhere from 0.1 to 101 degrees per second in 128 increments (slow enough to do smooth pans at 30X+ zoom), whereas the PTZ Optics models are limited to 24 speeds, the slowest of which is 1.7 degrees per second, many times too fast for what I'm doing.
