Thank you so much for this video! I am trying to figure out all the moving pieces regarding starting up my non-profit (Humble Harvest) and this was beyond extremely helpful. I often find that it's impossible to dig deeper into unknown fields of information without first having a crash course understanding of the bigger picture. This was exactly the start that I needed to learning about fundraising.
I also wanted to say that you inspired and encouraged me. I realized through your vastly distilled explanation of a large complex machine with many moving parts that I am not worried about being able to raise funds anymore. You showed me the fundamental HOW and WHY, and I realize now that my natural talents to schmooze with anyone and really connect with people will take me a VERY long way in raising money. Thank you so much for that much needed boost.
I look forward to watching and reading more of your content.

Excellent video. I always preferred approaching individual donors rather than large corporations or foundations. Now, I have even more reason to do so given 75% of donations come from individuals. Thanks for this video.

Thanks a lot for the video. It was a big surprise for me to find out about 75 %. I am from Ukraine but it seems to me that mostly our NGOs do the same. They go to "big fish" but do not go to individuals. I hope this will change soon :-)

there's a phenomena, a sense of responsability that only comes when you know that you are uniquely important to the objective and i think that can only be achieved when whoever is asking you makes you feel that important... which by the way, is only possible when you give up the big donnors.
if someone is a big donnor he has to actually search for social security numbers and make them donate willingly, like - "we all love that feeling of having helped, but few opportunities come in our way in which we know we actually done worth, we actually were important, so we fear the outcomes and end up getting further from that sense of helping, and consequently, of being important and worth... there are those guys and they are this ngo that does that amazing jobs regularly and you could help making this greater - they don't accept big donations, so yours is really, really important, what about? no? how about if i double your donation... the only option is 10 bucks you'll be giving 5 and i give you 5, but don't tell anyone and i won't tell anyone... it's just to kickstart their thing :)"
what you think about this thought?
