173's containment has to be cleaned, because if it isn't, it'll eventually fill with that substance, blocking line of sight, and giving it the opportunity to break containment

What I always wondered is if a layer of it fully coating 173 would do the same. Like, say you fully encase it in rubber or something, tight to the surface. The entire shape is still clearly visible but your eyes can't directly see stone. You can see that it's there but you can't see *it* itself. Would it move, I wonder?

I mean, from my understanding, the thing has lore that you can't even just close one eye at a time to always keep an eye on it, if you try it'll just move anyways (I believe so at least, might have just been an idea someone had shared instead) so I wouldn't be surprised if coating it in something would allow it to move
Object Classes:
Safe: An object that has a varying threat level but is easy to contain and predictable. If you lock it in a box and it won't escape or try to escape, it is safe.
Euclid: an object of varying threat level, but is moderately difficult to contain. If you lock it in a box and don't know what will happen, it is likely Euclid.
Keter: Usually a definitive high threat level, and are very hard to contain. If you lock it in a box and it escaped with ease, it is likely Keter.

Archon: Shouldn't be contained, because of possible negative consequences.
Hiemal: Anomalies that contain each other.
Neutralized: Object is no longer anomalous.
Cernunnos: Can't be contained because of logistical or moral reasons.
Tiamat: Containing the SCP could expose the SCP Foundation.
Ticonderoga: It's impossible to contain, but at the same time also not needed.
You can also use this technique to understand the object classes:
If you put it in a box an leave it alone, and it does nothing, it’s Safe.
If you put it in a box and it might break out if left alone, it’s Euclid.
If you put it in a box and it WILL break out if left alone, it’s Keter.
If it IS the box, it’s Thaumiel.
If you put it in a box and not only does it break out immediately, but it also ends the world doing so, it’s Apollyon.

I believe there is actually an entry for putting a human through on "very fine" settings. If I remember it resulted in a very fast, invisible, highly aggressive humanoid creature that killed almost everyone in the testing chamber before it spontaneously died. Been a while since I really looked into SCP stuff but I think that the gist of it.

One of the things I love about this game is... SPOILERS AHEAD.
The main character ends up becoming an SCP himself, because he's able to "go back to a previous checkpoint", so he's basically immortal. The game kind of acknowledges this, but it never goes beyond that. I wish we had some more lore on that regard, because a human turning into an SCP is something I'm very interested about.
It's a game and near the end aka gate A (or be idk) he gets shot by a guard plus theres a game mode named keter where it doesn't let you respawn after death,meaning that one life equals no chances
Idk if you’ve seen “scp confinement”on TH-cam but that one brings up a D class personal who has that exact power and it’s a pretty interesting little mini series (more than likely not canon at all but it’s still pretty kewl)

@bahrifight7797 What this guy said. D-9341 is explained through gameplay and lore hints that he was originally a researcher who was researching the Gestalt Effect. Haven't watched the video in a while, but he did something and was sentenced to D-Class and had his memory wiped. The Gestalt Effect explains why he can do things he's never done before like he's done them hundreds of times. Because he has in alternate timelines.

You’re one of the few people who actually finished it with multiple endings
It’s not that hard
Thaumiel - SCP is the box
Appollyon - SCP is impossible to put in the box
Archon - SCP could be put in a box, but it's better not to
Neutralized - SCP is no longer needed to be put in a box
Decommissioned - SCP is destroyed due to it being better that way
Safe: SCP won't move if you put it in a box
Euclid - SCP might escape if you put it in a box
Keter - SCP can't easily be kept in a box
It also depends on the danger, if the scp is a keter, it requires much more than to be kept in a box, requires to be pretty lethal.
SCP-689 is a good example

Then if 173 is finally destroyed, would the lizard be considered Neutralised or Decommissioned? Because it's allegedly better if 173 is gone.
There's also 'DAMMERUNG' class designation which only scp-2718 has.
@@eclypse1513 Decommissioned has nothing to do with the SCP being written poorly, there are several instances where they killed off certain SCPs because they were a major threat if left unchecked. And the difference between Decommissioned and Neutralized is blurry at best, depending on who wrote the SCP.

@@NoxHelios in contrary to your beliefs, this media has been spread through the channels of those who are not kids, and whose audience is not underage, you should be able to understand that comedy is a concept that is subjective, just because you and Insym might find it childish, there are many who can find it hilarious. In reality, there is no such thing as a gate that keeps older and younger generations apart when it comes to enjoying media, what does keep one from appreciating some form of comedy is the lack of context around the joke, such can be aquired with time, which makes it easy to confuse the two concepts.

Fun fact: SCP 1499 actually teleports the wearer to a place that is still Earth. The mask makes the wearer basically hallucinate. The entities called SCP-1499-1 are actually humans, but the gas mask's wearer sees them as monsters. The test log mentioned at the end of the document at 1:17:17 is readable on the official SCP database website, but basically it details multiple tests, with the final test detailing an agent being sent in and following a group of SCP-1499-1 entities to a gathering where the agent reports seeing a leader appearing to summon a giant worm creature out of a portal. The agent feels the need to stop the giant worm and supposedly succeeds in doing so. Upon taking off the mask, they reappear back in the SCP testing facility with a human heart in their hand. The SCP research team eventually hear that a suspect wearing a gas-mask and a suit had attacked a church in Moscow, Russia during morning services and killed several people, and then cut the priest's heart out with a knife. The SCP Higher-ups put two and two together and realized that the attacker was the agent testing SCP-1499.

No, it's because of his knowledge and ability to navigate the facility (they have no way to know his power)

I just realized In the game your character is an SCP because every time you die, you respond, and even if you’re playing the hardest difficulty keter You have to restart, but you have more knowledge of what to do
A trick I've seen people do when running from Larry and running *into* Peanut along the way is to learn strafing/running backwards. Since you can open doors while facing away from them, if you strafe around Peanut and find yourself to the next door, you can avoid dying to both 173 and Larry.

From an in game story perspective this would be so funny. Just seeing security footage after everything is said and done of one of the prisoners goofing around playing with a big change machine, putting on all the glasses scps, eating everything he can, throwing the canteen scp on the ground giving no fucks, proofing into another dimension the second Larry comes around.
They would not know how to deal with this one...XD

I agree with the title, I think this game is the cornerstone of good horror and opens up an entire universe to be explored by the general gaming population. This game alone has made SCP my favorite game universe out there (if we’re excluding universes from movies that include games, such as Star Wars). This game is a masterpiece, plain and simple.
I've known about SCP for a very long time. I did not know it was a series and I did not know how well thought out it was. Thank you for showcasing to educate those who are not familiar with the game.
I like how, despite being written as somewhat flexible or slightly inconsistent, people still describe d class personnel the wrong way. They weren't sentenced to serve, they were sentenced to death usually and then conscripted like a Russian soldier, with about as much expendability or chance of survival tbh.
Though, I mean, Insym describes the foundation and their SCP items otherwise actually very accurately. I'll give credit to that. The clearance level number is a little off, but imo that's way harder, same with the classes that aren't D (and sometimes D too ig, to a degree lmao)
To simplify the prior, 0 is info provided by public request, 1 is employees not directly handling containment of any kind (bookkeepers or desk jobs), 2 are junior researchers (the kind with access to low risk SCPs or rarely a single SCP they specialize in research for), 3 are senior research and also security personnel, 4 are site and regional directors for access to everything their subordinates are also handling as well as some otherwise restricted details, and 5 are for the 05 council, their 13 members, and the personnel handling the immediate directives of a member of 05.
Don't worry D class, you can earn your freedom after a month of serving the Foundation

The prisons dont send you to the foundation. The foundation comes and gives you a deal. Work for them for a month, earn freedom. If you deny, they give you amnestics and try again. And they dont let you out after the month, they either "exterminate" you, or give you more amnestics and then say you got there.

One of the few games I'm too scared to play alone. The randomization makes it unpredictable and that's spooky. Still one of the best.
Actually there is a lore，your are not a random prisoner，you are a high ranking scientist of the Foundation，you try to make yourself immortal，and indeed you succeed--that why you can literally “Respawn” or “Save ＆ Load” like a game protagonist

Every time you use 914 the timer for 106 to spawn goes down extra so if you use 914 a lot at once you will have to see 106 more often
The D-class lore is incorrect.
You did crimes to which you were given a death sentence.
You were then given a deal were you can come work here for 1 month and get a full pardon.
But if you get close you are given a lethal assignment.
Though it doesn’t apply to this game’s main character. He was a scientist who did unauthorized experiments with reality bending anomaly, becoming an anomaly himself (Second thing foundation didn’t find out about until one of the endings)
The moment that Insym mentioned Larry I was like "HEY I REMEMBER RADICAL LARRY! 😀"

For all of SCPs containment proceadures, you'd think making the walls of SCP-173s containment area luminious as well as giving observers torches would have been on the priority list.

When 049 kept following him because it couldn’t kill him, I said “Aw, they both made a friend!”
The pocket dimension is pretty easy to escape, especially since you were able to see. Your mistake was taking time to read the letter, because after a certain amount of time, 106 will begin hunting you, so it’s best to move as fast as possible.
Letters are stamped on the guy’s eyes, even when he closes his eyes, those remain. Must be painful.
SCP-372 is just a goofy little thing. Its euclid status just means it requires more specific measures to contain it.

I find it funny that all you have to do to is alternate your blinks to be pretty safe from peanut
I have never quite understood how the SCP-106 containment is supposed to work. Can he only go through the floor? Not through walls or ceiling? Can he not move up a floor to get up the top and jump down? ...does this mean he has to use the stairs or the elevator like the rest of us? Imagine chilling in an elevator and suddenly in comes Larry and you just have a very awkward ride, with the elevator music playing in the background.
So, I'm sure it differs in the game and I haven't watched a full playthrough of it, but I did actually go over the 106 file rather recently.
Larry can pass through any flat surface that has his BBQ Sauce on it. He can emerge anywhere from this "surface" as long as it is connected by something that's a wall. So, in a wall, out the ceiling, out the other side, out a different wall of the same room, or the opposite side of the opposite wall. As long as it's connected to the entry point.
Note, I believe he can also exit nearby areas where his BBQ Sauce is. So, in one wall, out a nearby wall that's minimally, or not at all, connected. This is harder to do, though, and not often mentioned or used, if at all. I'm not sure about it.
His containment plans focus mostly on fighting his ability to travel through walls. He is kept in containment cells that are essentially cubes of lead (as he seems to move slower through these, as though they provide resistance). These cubes are suspended in one another, the walls have a minimum distance that I can't remember, but I think it's around 20cm or 8-10in. Water fills these gaps, as it also seems to slow/confuse him, and the cubes are suspended by chains placed at random intervals and angles. All of this, again, seems to slow and confuse him. This water is to be replaced... I believe it's every 48h. Maybe a week or two, but I think two days. This is because Larry's BBQ Sauce is corrosive to *all* materials. Used to be, the water was on a continuous pump, but that actually caused corrosion across many places in the facility, and led to a containment breach of terrible proportion. So, it's manually done and not rotating now.
And, I believe one function of the BBQ Sauce would be to enter a wall and come out on the same wall, but three floors above so presumably, Larry does not need to use the elevator :D

Pretty sure the last time that he played this 173 was mega bugged so he didbt get the wombo combo of peanut and "larry" pincer attacking him lol. He had a lot less encounters with 173. Especially since theres moments in other runs where 173 is supposed to show up in dramatic fashion to ruin your day kek.

They have to clean the enclosure because eventually all the feces and blood will compromise the enclosure and allow SCP 173 to escape.
I believe it's corrosive, even if not canonically blood is corrosive. And if you take in later iterations, that buildup can also eventually create another instance of 173 and having two is a lot worst than having one.
@@DrDark-im9kv I think my favorite instance of SCP 173 breaking containment is when the organization all read that memo that's sent around from the sub conscious research team and they release all the SCP's. It somehow finds a way to replicate itself and there's thousands wreaking havoc all over the world.

For anyone scrolling down into the comments for more info about SCP's. Generally when it comes to combining SCP's, it has always resulted in absolute chaos.
