got two mint condition headsets with cable plus two sensors for 45$ total from ebay. seller had eight headsets total, selling in pairs, overall very happy. seemed to be from a company tech demo or something idk.
I had the cv1 myself back in 2020. It was a superb headset back in the days. But the cable failed and already at that time it was impossible to get. So that's the only thing to be vary of. The cable, same goes for the rift S. But Both are still decent headsets if bought for the right price.
i have a oculus quest 2 rn that i pretty much only use for pcvr and i have heard that the quest slows your pcvr gameplay down so would it be a good idea to get a cv1? also this was the best review i have seen in good while
Ty and if you have the money and you dont mind spending it, then i think for the performance its worth it, however the resolution is visibly worse but you wont notice it when focused and playing games
I need some help... Should I get the CV1 or the Quest 1? They are selling for the same price (used) where I live. But I'm still indecisive... 1. Is the difference between 90hz and 72hz noticeable? 2. What about the resolution? I mainly do PCVR, I have no problem with cables or using the oculus link, but wouldn't the Quest be better since it has more resolution?
After playing on 72hz then going to 90hz i noticed a big difference and it feels much smoother and accurate when playing games but idk much about the quest 1 to be honest sorry
i would not recommend the quest 1, either get a cv1, or go all the way to a oculus quest 2/3. cv1 and rift s are definatly the easiest and cheapest for simple pc vr, there are some quirks with setup, and steam vr, but once used to them it doesn't bother me. user experience seems to vary a bit for all models, but with my personal use with the cv1, the tracking is immaculate, i have three sensors though in a ideal formation. cv1 display panel compared to quest 2 is bad, still perfectly usable, but nothing in comparison to quest 2. the upside however is the fact its OLED, and with a native lower res you can run vr on less powerful machines, or max out game settings easier.
Tbh I would not go for rift s because it has a lot of known issues compared to cv1. Broken controllers(very common with rift s/q1 controllers), robotic mic, broken cables, no ipd adjustment, 80hz when the cv1 is 90hz, lcd while both q1 and cv1 have oled. Id rather have quest 1 or cv1 than rift s.
Disclaimer: buy a rift cv1 will make you become a beat saber player i had no interest in beat saber before i bought this head set now i have 10 hrs on beat saber and it is still growing
It has a pretty horrible display for nowadays standards but everything else is absolutely amazing for its age. If you can find one for 100€ or less then go for it.

I've not tried vr before, but the rift cv1 goes for VERY cheap in the uk so I've been tempted ti buy it
i recently bought it for 60 dollars all i can say is that vr is very nice when you're on a budget with a decent pc
No wonder the sound is better - these are just Porta Pro's with outer driver casings and HMD mounts, lol
If you got a decent GPU, my oculus one still works like a charm through virtual desktop. I bet Rift performance would be the same.
