Jack, I think it works because they can turn on/ off individual pixels(?) within the 'matrix LEDs' - Say the Matrix has 100 pixels in a grid formation, they just enable a pattern that shows the letters TESLA - In theory, if someone figures it out, you could put anything (not just letters) - Although id imagine the resolution wont be great with anything too complex. Im surprised you havent used the software to make your own tbh - Although I guess thats an opportunity for another video :P
I think it's around 205(?) individual pixels in a grid, but other than that you're entirely correct! Only the M3s from Shanghai have the dot-matrix bulb though. It's used for the headlights & high beams (but I may be wrong). Tesla's profile for making the light show doesn't include those lights but I'm sure someone on the internet will hack something together.

The fact each light is controlled individaully is very cool, but 20 years down the line when these cars develop electrical gremlins on the second hand market, they're going to be a right pain to fix...... I do love how tesla put these features in. They are one of a kind that company.

Picture an OLED TV shrunk down to a couple of inches (yes I’m American) Tesla has the ability to disable or enable each individual pixel inside the array. This will allow drivers to drive with their highbeams on at all times and the system will dim or disable parts of the ear headlights to not blind oncoming drivers. Next time you’re out to your car take a highframe rate video of the headlights against a close object like a wall. If you zoom in on the lights on the wall you will see the mini pixels turning on and turning off very quickly (only when your high beams are on) You can spell whatever you want in the headlamps in this example Tesla spelled Tesla

Have you seen the custom light shows people have produced. You can download them and it will produce different music/sounds and light sequences, I will put some up on my channel.
I did it at a supercharger and someone in a model X came and didn’t know all cars did it now and they offered to do it but someone was charging next to them so they couldn’t do it :(
It doesn’t have the word Tesla in the lights, they are matrix headlights. In a future software update they will improve the headlights / auto highbeam feature.
So it CAN auto close the trunk afterwards, like the capability is within the car . So why can't you auto close the trunk yourself in normal function of the car??? Or can you now and I'm just behind?
@@Ravi_Raj_Gupta I always thought it was quite stupid that they made the car all techy how it is and never had an auto/ remote close trunk and I'm pretty sure there have been cars that have had that feature for at least 10 years That's good they fixed that cause oof

I'm guessing it either uses the projector beams to display Tesla or has a thin film of Tesla over top of the turn signals that can only be seen at a certain distance against a wall.

It can project ‘Tesla’ on the wall because the lights are matrix-LED’s. (It was an update with the 2021 model)

It’s not very reliable in closing the boot and windows at the end, sometimes it failed. I wouldn’t walk away from mine!

I believe projector beams and LED Matrix are basically the same technology using a different type of light.
