Let me explain the money thing. There was a time where 1 USD was equal to 5 Gourdes. That's why we divide the Gourdes (which is the haitian currency) by 5 to know how much dollars it is. But since 1 USD is no longer 5 Gourdes, we say haitian dollar. But there is no such thing as haitian dollar, it's just a calculation that we do in our head because it's easier for us I guess.

Hi. I would love to come back to my country on vacation. Is it really safe to come to cap haitien. And would you be a guide to us and show us around
Hat off to you African tigress for visiting Haiti 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 ❤
I'm originally from Barbados , alot of lies is spread about Haiti and it's people .Even some of our black looking people speak negative things about Haiti. But it's all liies my people. Everywhere on this planet we negative and positive people.
Am a kenyan n we love Haiti n it's people, we love all black people in the diaspora...
Thanks for telling the truth! I read a lot of negativities on the net from our Caribbean brothers and sisters. While they forget the sacrifice Haitians did for all. We pay the price as Christ did to save souls with his own life. No sacrifice without pain. Shalom, brother!
God will restore Haïti and those responsible will pay for the suffering of this nation 🙏
Or we will ✊🏿
Inshallah 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
💯 Fact!
Agree. Martely one the president that destroyed Haiti is in the USA living large with his family. Sad
Haitians are beautiful people. Sure I would visit this beautiful land one day.
Thank you AT, for showing the world our beautiful Caribbean 🇨🇭🇯🇲🇯🇲

African Tigress, I wasn’t too sure about your visit to Haiti, but I must now say thank you for this. As usual, your account is informative, interesting , unbiased and objective. It gives those of us who are armchair travellers a perspective not based on hysteria and general western subjectivity.
Haiti has been decimated, exploited and abused, not only by powers in the west, but by their own corrupt leaders. But, still the spirit of resilience is evident in the people. Once again thank you, looking forward to what the rest of your journey unfolds.
Wish you could do Cuba or Dominica , both places of great interest.
You are surely adventurous African Tigress. You have gotten a bird eye's view of Haiti. I hope you will be enlightened as you journey through the African diaspora of the Caribbean, . Enjoy your journey❤
You are Brave. I am a Soldier but would not do what you do. Flames. I love My Life very much❤❤❤
You take a lot of chances❤❤❤
Before the Haitian economy got bad, 5 Haitian gourde used to equal $1 US dollar- (It was the strongest currency in the region) Also, there used to be a lot of tourists from the US, so Haitian started to refer to 5 gourdes as a dollar. The gourde has lost its value, so now the meaning of the a dollar no longer applies to the US dollar but they still use the expression.
Bless up and respect to African Tigress. Real soldier. 🇯🇲 🇭🇹
She is not leaving Haiti. She is going to another location in Haiti
lol, sometimes you have to read and spell for the slow ones.
@@candid0111 they just go by the title of the video instead of actually looking at the video before they comment
If she goes to the DR, she would see the difference.
@@victorcharles8686 What’s this obsession with always comparing Haiti with DR?
Hope African Tigress visits the Citadel.
Truly grateful! God bless you Caribbean Tigress from 🇹🇹 and God bless my Haitian brothers and sisters🙏🏽❤️

Good bless Haiti with peace and prosperity thanks for sharing this beautiful amazing video in beautiful Haiti have a safe trips sending prayers for the people of Kanyan
ThatboyLens is a good boy, been a subscriber of his channel since he started his youtube channel... you should let him take you to the waterfall and introduce you to the rasta that make the veggie patties. Big up to haiti "the real face of the caribbean" without haiti fight for freedom and independence and becoming the force in the caribbean and the america's during slavery. What we are seeing and witnessing is a political fight against haiti by the european colonial offsprings. They never forgived hayiti🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹 Hayiti Must Stand Up And Rise Again 💚💛❤
You all need to stop it. What we are seeing is Haitians fighting Haitians in Haiti… with Haitian gangs wanting control of the government. It’s time to start living in the present and take some responsibility for what is going on with your people. Only you all can save yourselves… that is the only way you will be able to move forward. The world is rooting for Haiti’s success, but Haitians need to start living in the present and start holding other Haitians accountable.
You Are Absolutely Correct !! Europe, America have done A Lot to Hinder Haiti's Progress, it is time for Haitians to outsmart Our ENEMIES !!
❤🖤💚👊🏽
One brave woman!
Thanks for sharing! I’m so happy to be able to travel with you!

🇯🇲 🇯🇲 supporting 🇭🇹 Hoping to visit one day
Big respect to you African Tigress for visiting Hsiti. Not even Wode Maya and Tayo Aina dared to visit. Most have been scared iff by the goings on in Port au Prince.
I visited Port-Au-Prince & one of the closest Beach resorts near Port-Au-Prince & then celebrated the New Year at a concert 🎵 🎶 🎵 with my oldest niece about 8 years ago when Martelly was still president…. One of my sisters has gone to Haiti 🇭🇹 about 8 times as she voluntarily taught at one of her Medical Surgeon’s friends’ own Medical college at Cap Haïtien…. A close Haitian sister/friend of mine here in New York City, moreover had her mother & sister who lived in Port-Au-Prince then, take us out for dinner to a restaurant with an amazing view overlooking Port-Au-Prince…! The Haitian People 🇭🇹 are amongst the entire African Diaspora People, who have been led to Extreme sufferance & survivalship… And yet for most in Haiti 🇭🇹, the Endurance, Faith & Survivorship of The Most Oppressive& Underprivileged is Just Extraordinary….!!!!!!!! I WILL one day return to visit La Citadelle & pay Homage & Honour to The Brave Soldiers & Civilians who sacrificed themselves to become the First Ever Freed Slaves & Nation….!!!!
Good stuff Adventurous Tiger. Forgot to request that you make sure to visit the citadel and north Haiti village/suburbs
Another lovely video from Haiti!!

‘Nuff respect for braving Haiti! Haiti is near and dear to my heart… Haitians are so fun (love Haitian music!) And very ambitious!
You know AT, when you first announced that you were going to Haiti, I thought for sure that you were stark staring mad. Now that I see you are not where the madness is, I am kinda glad that I am able to see some of Haiti. Still, be safe! Merci beaucoup!
Wow the views from above … soo beautiful 😍
It seems to me that even with traffic, you would have gotten to the airport at the same time. Driving through that flooded, muddy road had my heart beating fast. I kept wondering if he was in a high SUV, or would you get stuck in that muddy water. Anyway, thank God, you made it. Your airport adventure reminded me of a similar experience I had in Trinidad. At the time, the airline flying from Port of Spain to Tobago was TTAS. We arrived at the airport at 7 am for a 9 am flight. There was one delay after another. We finally left POS at 5:30 PM!!! We were beyond exhausted by the time we got to Tobago. We later learned that the Trinis said TTAS was an acronym for Take Ticket And Suffer! LOL
😂
Trinis love acronyms 😅😅😅 For instance, KFC:Killing Foolish Citizens was one I grown up on
Mais c'est pa la route principale non,je connais la route principale
Did you know that Ayiti and Trinidad and Tobago have history? I’m sure you probably do, but I’m just asking.
❤ watching from cape Town South Africa
I enjoyed being able to see the sites either by land and air. May YAH Bless you my sister. !!!Glad it was a safe trip !! You brought tears to my eyes.
That muddy water had me girrrrrl...that wss one hell of an experience...thinking...shouldn't he have stayed on the highway? Anyway you made it...the guys look like fun...waiting to enjoy " Les Cayes" Well done AT!!
Thank you for having the courage to visiting my country. I will follow you
And the adventures continues 😊🙏🏽❤️ The plantain you ate is known as “Tostones” / press plantain, tachinos, chatinos, etc. Haitian’s call it bannann peze. It’s green plantain which is twice-fried, pressed flat and sprinkled with a little salt. More of a savoury side dish. The yellow plantains are the sweet ones. Enjoy 😊
Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe, De ominica, Martinique all speaking créole some in New Orléans too
They spoke French creole in Trinidad also up to the late 1800s to the early 1900s .
And Grenada.
@@shelbourneking4135Trini's sill says things in creole with out even noticing. Paramin still speaks it.
Different types of Creole it will be like because I speak spanish and pretending to speak Italian 😂
@@guarocuya3514 Not necessarily, they’re mutually intelligible to a certain extent.
Your caption, "I had to leave Cap Haiten," has an ominous ring to it, Ms. Tigress.

Yes 👏🏿 l am watching your video on cable tv 📺 from America 🇺🇸 and riding through all that muddy water 💦 was kinda of a trip to me, but I really enjoyed watching, be careful, be blessed, 😇 enjoy 😊, 😘
Great content. Wonderful indeed. Florida greetings.
Thanks for the video. I don't know what conversation books you use when you travel to a country where their native language is not English. There are some very good travel conversation pocket books with simple phrases that you can purchase to help you. I hate saying this, but I will be unable to deal with an airport with so much confusion. I really admire your courage.
African Tigress 🐅 Thanks for visiting my lovely country. Thanks for showing trees 🌴, unbelievable to the ones who diminish Haiti 🇭🇹.
Always like before watching coz I know I won’t be disappointed. You’re a real soldier AT. Praying for Kenya and it shall rise too by God’s grace 🙏🏾
Thank you love

Hello so Beautiful l can understand and l hope you enjoy 😊 yourself and everything, have a safe trip, and 😘

I was watching a video of a place named Jeremie, it had it was so beautiful. It had a Cathedral named St Louis. I hope you get to visit.
My father's people come from Jeremie. Land of poets and writers.
Jeremie is actually not far from where she landed in Les Cayes. It’s a short drive north on the highway RN7.
One time for you.much love Haiti to the world ❤❤❤❤❤.
Your make up looks great and you seem so cool under the hot sun. You're amazing.

African Tigress, thank you for letting us see the real world.
Nice people, have fun AT
My African Sister thank you for showing us what courage over fear looks like in real time. Always remember God is with you wherever you go! 🫶🏾🤲🏾🕊️🇰🇪
Wonderful video.
Have fun, enjoy, I love the Haitian people. They seem to be very friendly. Just keep on trekking AT
Okap must be revisited. The beaches and the Sitadèl is a must. However, make sure you enjoy Okay
Crazy!! 😮
@AFRICAN TIGRESS “dola” is an unrecognized slang term (only the locals know) to describe that many, many, moons ago, five gourdes = one US dollar: the formula is Gourdes divided by five is the amount in dola (not dollar); the exchange rate is currently at 134 gourdes and 88 centimes (G134.88) to one US dollar ($1.00 USD); the currency is still called Gourdes. I hope this helps.
Sunrise air is Haitian owned ,less than 10 years old
Les cayes looks like picturesque town in Haiti
It's flooding everywhere.Be safe AT
Good to see you in Haiti, I am Haitian I visit once yearly.
Lajan pou fè route al achèté kay nan péyi étrangè
Yes one brave African woman 🥰
@African Tigress so your translater should have said, “Kabrit en sòs” stewed goat meat”, “banane bouyi” - boiled plantain, normally service with rice and bean sauce “diri aka sòs pwa. While you’re in Okay, try some TomTom ak Kalalou (TomTom resembles pounded yam but it’s pounded breadfruit) with meat and crabs in sauce. It’s Okay’s signature dish. Enjoy yourself, hopefully you will be taken to Gelee Beach. As your walking, you’re going to come across a house with a gate made with plastic bottles. You’re going to think “like wow” you will feel at home. You’re accustomed to the fresh seafood and meat. One more thing, griot is fried pork shoulder, so if you’re not into pork, let it be known now!
Great JOB, AT.
Hi beautiful African lady, i am so happy that you visit Cap-Haïtien my birthplace, now I am leaving in Miami Florida I think you enjoy it❤😅😅

Your brave sis .....

Thanks for the wonderful pictures,I fill safer in Haiti than I would ever be in Amerikkka❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There is no such thing as haitian dollar. The exchange rate with US $ used to be a fixed 1 to 5. Eventually, it varies. They still have a dollar that is 5 gourdes to a dollar. Except the US $ is no longer 1 to 5. So, they call it haitian dollar.
