3:45 "begs the question" doesn't mean "asks the question" 😢 It means circular reasoning: "I should get the gold nuggets because I'm team leader (who says you're team leader?) Well, because I've got all the gold nuggets"
As you talk I suppose you are/were a very strong and famous player, however there really a lot of critiques in your commentary. Saying what the players are doing wrong or what they could've done better in your opinion is not very entertaining. Thanks anyway to bring these amazing series on youtube!
I disagree there champ, commentary includes analysis, and analysis includes opinion! Him adding those moments of reflection are how most of us players get better while watching pro players. I and most players wouldn’t be able to understand the nuances of every situation as quickly to comprehend why situations went one way or another.
I'm confused. What's the point of a commentator if they aren't critically analyzing? Providing background noise? Acting as substitute eyeballs? Regardless, so far as the entertainment value of Pig's analysis, that's very much a matter of opinion, and mine is that it's the best part of his casting. In addition to the benefits mentioned in the other guy's reply (providing learning moments, allowing a low-level player like me to appreciate a lot of nuance and detail I'd otherwise miss), I also find that it performs some of the same functions as narrative devices like foreshadowing, flashbacks, and (on those occasions where things don't turn out the way he expects) twist endings. 😉
His high level critique in his commentary is what makes him unique. Winter and to some degree Harstem are better to watch if you like just a play by play. As a low level d1 player, the critique is extremely helpful and entertaining since the game is just way too complicated for a small brain like me to critically analyze what pros are doing.

Critique is a part of life. Without it everyone on planet earth will be a beta male/female. GJ PIG keep the cast going.
You know he is still at least mid grandmaster right?
