    Living here in the states, we have the rebranded Fiat as the Ram ProMaster. That's my baby! Mine has the Chrysler Pentastar V-6 engine and 6 speed automatic. A much better drive train for sure. I came this close to buying the Ford Transit but chose the Ram in the end and am extremely happy with my choice.

      I don't know if the v6 is better, it burns more, so the ratio of power to fuel consumption is worse, and after all, it's not a racing van anyway, there is probably a speed limit in America, eh?

  • @EndritAl
    @EndritAl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I bought 2 months ago 2011 Fiat Ducato L1H1 Multijet100.
    It is very good van.Fuel consumption is superb.In one occasion in highway,I was able to bring it 4.9L/100 km.Overall fuel consumption is 5.9 to 6.2/100km.

    Those half automatics gearboxes aren't a thing here in Europe, everybody overhere hates them just as much. Transit is basically the best, Ford really did a great job on the latest Transit range. About the payload, in Europe we can order the Transits in different payload options. We have a Transit Custom length 2 320 for example, in which 320 stands for the max weight of the vehicle without towing can be 3200 kg. Its noticeable in the bit higher rear suspension, and if loaded up the rideheight doesn't go down as much as on other vans. We needed the high payload quite a lot but it must also fit in garages, thats why the Custom was the best option.

      Transit is the best shown in the video because the merc wasn't there. Nothing comes close to a merc auto box, not even vag groups DSG

    • @mattsmaintenance7139
      @mattsmaintenance7139 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Merc couldn't make it there because it rusted and the body fell off on the way hahaha

      Actually Crafter in Europe is available with an 8 gear ZF proper auto gearbox, which is a marvel. Same thing for Daily, although I'm not sure if those are the same exact models. Also Crafter is available with RWD and AWD, although RWD is only in bigger versions, not the H1.
      Merc however is not that good anymore. It drives well, is quiet, but the electric steering really won't let you feel the road. Also the quality of interior is not good.

      well good luck with injectors...I think you will really need it...needless to say what a disaster the previous 2.2 ford puma was with same issues ..injectors and cylinder heads....and 2 litres for a 1500 kg van...too low...it will not last....and good luck with new system with the cam belt dipped in oil...it will be like a russian lottery...it might be very good ...or yet another major ford disaster.....ford ethos...sell them cheap.....clients will come back soon for another one....fed up with them

    I have a Iverco Daily 2017, I have owned Fiat Ducato, and Mercedes sprinter, The Ducato was very reliable, but was lightly built under neath and the gearbox was OK. The sprinter was good but it wasn't real fast, I enjoyed driving it.. The Iverco is fast in a straight line , built really strong underneath, and big inside, it hasn't had time to prove itself yet, I did have to replace the EGR valve at 44k , they had to remove the transmission to do it which was a bit disappointing, The Iverco Daily gets good reviews overseas, in New Zealand where I live, its not a common van, so as I said it has to prove itself, but looking good so far.

    Test drove a 1yr old Transit with 45k on it and a 4 yr old Merc Sprinter with 156k as I was after a LWB van to replace my MWB. The Mercedes quality was very evident and the van seemed the fresher of the 2, even though it was older with a higher mileage. These guys must not have heard of the Mercedes. Fiat and maybe Iveco use the shit box. The Sprinter auto box is superb as is the VW DSG box.

    ... up´s usually Volkswagen sells the new Crafter all over the globus with the 177 HP diesel engine and 8 speed automatic with the choose of front, rear or all wheel drive. The Transit is in the gas engine with 310 hp and automatic trans. very nice and not underpowered, the Fiat has only for the north america, china ect. marked a nice 280 hp V6 with a torque converter automatic transmission. The Transit will show up late 2019 as a 2020 model with a 185 hp diesel engine, 10 speed automatic and 4x4 option.

    I’d prefer to drive a rear wheel drive / manual box van any day over some front wheel drive semi auto electronically controlled gearbox.
    With a full payload starting off on a steep hill kills a fwd clutch, and their turning circle is hopeless compared to a rear wheel drive unit.
    Bring back the WB panel van!!
    The current range of vans are getting worse year after year, and more expensive, just like the fuel.
    Sad, oh so sad.

    Those vans are expensive, For us couriers who for the most are on Ad Hoc delivery work just not enough money being made for us to afford those vans,, Permanent run making regular good $s, well you go transit , Sprinter if you have enough $s or if you game Fait, Renault but both have had expensive components that fail , Fait Renault auto is known to be a box that fails expensive fix,, VW engine issues, What are we using that has a barn doors takes a flogging and some how keeps going and not to expensive to purchase. the LD yep Chinese van non flash ugly duckling, do regular service, timing belt early and drive it like you stole it and the bugger keeps going why don't know,, their are LD out their with over half a million on clock yes some dints, missing paint still working hard. They road tested them out in New Zealand where some clocked up nearly million kms,, Not bad for cheap Chinese box on 4 wheels,
