Looney (I mean Lonney) is often being talked about for the wrong reasons. Especially when it’s ice fishing, he often prioritizes making money over the safety of his charter customers. When it’s early ice fishing and/or big snowstorms and white out conditions blowing snow. Pretty much all other local Door County guides cancel their trips due to their safety concerns for their customers. It never fails that Lonney is needing a rescue nearly every year (sometimes more than once) from Coast Guard/ Fire Department etc rescue because he’s out on the ice and the wind blows/breaks the ice sheet off from shore. Case in point, last year he had 6-7 shacks that were broke free from the ice sheet by Little Sturgeon and were half sunk. Took them a whole day cutting them free with chainsaws and multiple airboats to haul them back to shore.
