Making 3D games can be fun in scratch as scratch is so basic you need think about the maths so much. You're basically recreating the ray casting and graphics algorithms made long ago
It can be fun, but I'm over here making a Binding of Isaac game in scratch and my brain is melting already trying to make dungeon generating and suchlike x_x

I looked for 3D scratch tutorials. They seem easy but I am pretty sure adding a physics engine wouldn't be easy.

Logically, all games are in 2D. Why? Why? A computer screen is in 2D... The games use only a 3D illusion, there is no 3D.

I made a platformer that was almost as hard as celeste, i was like 8 and the teacher didn’t like it because I used the default assets with the cat, I think this decision of mine to make a hard game led me to enjoying dark souls

The teacher should focus grading the coding, not the sprites
For scratch there are a 2 main ways to do raycasting.
Sprite based-uses sprites for the map, player, sensing, and drawing. This is usually slower than the 2nd way to make raycasting but its easier to learn.
Array/list-faster than sprite based but harder to learn and code but easier to make height maps.

I can’t imagine how much scripting it takes to make a 3D game on Scratch... how much time it takes to make one?
It takes me evenings to make a simple escape/chase game, and then there’s this! No comments other than AWESOME WORK!

I am currently working on a 2D game in Scratch that is a sort of sandbox game that I want to make, but not sandbox as in coloring a bunch of squares for an image, rather sandbox as a little "playground" where I basically let you choose stuff like building blocks, fluids, tools and other things for you to just mess around doing random stuff like testing to see the strength of a big iron box against a bomb and stuff like that. I'm really enjoying making this game to be honest!

Well, They use the pen for it to work.
And most of the time (depending on the project) its around 4 sprites. The So called "engine" aka pen system and other stuff to that..

Keep in mind, this video was filmed in the Scratch 2 era. Most of these would lag like crazy around then since this kind of stuff is a very fast and clever process for Scratch, especially for non linear 3D games. Crazy to see just how impressive you can go with this program.

Some of the 3D games use a lot of codes and some use a few.
Making games with scratch was pretty cool. You can become creative, do anything with the codes and of course make amazing games
It's cool that Scratch can somehow do this, but why not use Unity or something? It almost seems easier.
TheBcoolGuy the whole point is to do it in a scratch which is much harder. Of course they can use unity but it takes the challenge away

Swagster9 Swaggins ok but unity has a built-in 3d engine while scratch doesn't. Yes c# is more complicated but scratch is much more restricting with what you can do. If you know c# then making a 3d render is not hard in unity but in scratch it must all be done from scratch. Pun intended

Tux Penguin it's all generated with very special pen blocks that are most the time never used but not in 3d games!
some games use rasterization which makes the 3D objects like the plane (i have no idea how that works) and some games uses raycasting which sends a bunch of rays in every direction until it hits a block and based off the distance traveled projects it in a specific way

One thing I hate about scratch is that most controls for games are arrow keys, as if the game could be for kids more.
