Another emotional Suzume track this time around, with "Closing the Door", one of the final tracks on the soundtrack. There are piano parts in the original score for this but they are limited, so it was difficult to adapt it into a pure piano solo arrangement. It largely follows the original, but I did cut out one repeating part because it became too samey sounding on the piano, and I did change the tempos to fit the performance and style of the arrangement.
In the original piece, the climax is focused on the sweeping strings that are playing the main chords from the "Suzume" chorus, and there is not much else going on in terms of underlying melodies or basslines. That's why I had to create the bassline from scratch. And it needed to fit the transition from the arpeggios in the previous section, and with the tempo change applied. In the end I think what I did works well, but I didn't quite have that "that's it!" moment. Let me know how it sounds :)
