Yes Crows! I've been watching them for years here in Seattle, but have only seen what you described a couple of times, for about a week's duration each. While Crows do a nightly commute to a roost in trees which can hold thousands of them overnight, they don't usually stop in neighborhoods on the their way to the roost. So the occasion of thousands of crows covering a neighborhood, including the houses, the yards, the cars and practically everything in sight is unusual. But its amazing to see! Literally thousands of them hanging out, and then a week later, the "Crowvention" is gone, and it might be a few years before it happens again. The best theory I've come across is that for some social behavioral reason, several large murders of Crows gather on occasion, maybe to settle border territories, grievances, etc. I always wondered if Hitchcock had witnessed this phenomenon and subsequently made the film, The Birds!

22:35 For me crows are indicators - when they call out and are seeming to be ruffled surrounding an area there is some other power creature in the area that they are highlighting. (in this case maybe it was you!) For example behind my home in the forest the crows come for a variety of reasons but when they behave out of character (flocking, squawking or being generally very excited) for sure there is an owl, eagle, hawk or falcon they are highlighting (and/or trying to drive out of the area.) All of these birds are very nonchalant about it even though it is clearly annoying.

A few yrs ago- an acre of my property use to be lined w/crows , mid-day. I didn’t know at that time what they represented…life became chaos! Yes! I wake at 5am and drive to work. I pass by a particular intersection where there are literally a thousand crows. I've stopped and counted. Its very ominous and beautiful. Its an industrial atea next to the train tracks. A "murder" of crows is what they call it. I'm so glad you got to experience that San.❤

Crows and ravens constantly fly in front of my car or stop in the middle of the road to speak to me about changes! What’s a murder of crows?
A group of crows is called a “murder.” There are several different explanations for the origin of this term, mostly based on old folk tales and superstitions.
For instance, there is a folktale that crows will gather and decide the capital fate of another crow.
Many view the appearance of crows as an omen of death because ravens and crows are scavengers and are generally associated with dead bodies, battlefields, and cemeteries, and they’re thought to circle in large numbers above sites where animals or people are expected to soon die.
But the term “murder of crows” mostly reflects a time when groupings of many animals had colorful and poetic names. Other fun examples of “group” names include: an ostentation of peacocks, a parliament of owls, a knot frogs, and a skulk of foxes.

there's a similar phenomenon in Vancouver where many of the crows fly to Burnaby (a suburb) to a communal roost - I'm sure you could find videos of it online. In the evenings in the fall (and maybe winter?) particularly there's just thousands of them all flying in that direction, and if you're in their roost area it's like what you described - thousands of them roosting everywhere. Such amazing creatures ☺
also if it's helpful ravens are much bigger than crows, and they have quite a different beak shape so if you learn to recognize that (it's pretty easy once you know to look) you'll be able to tell them apart pretty easily. They also have a different tail shape when flying to help recognize them that way, and a very different call/voice 🌿
Hi San this really resonates, I'm not sure if you've ever tried the experience of shifting to Vimeo to watch the extended, it's incredibly convoluted, if I try to watch it there it plays your channel preview:intro message. I finally managed to find it and it plays until my screen goes to sleep mode and have to start again... there's more but I won't bore you. Also the purchasing from PayPal basically never works, I think you'd have more success if you moved to another platform, I would be less hesitant to purchase extended readings as I always know that I'm in for a battle getting there. Large flocks of crows basically indicate theres a large source of food. Or that they've been taught a lot of food will turn up soon. I do look at the raw why for the symbolic potebtial. Crows btw are smaller than ravens, not quite as smart, but thats not saying much.
Texas gets crackels that look like crows, this time of year ! Is massive infiltration 😂 but I'm in Florida now and recently saw a large collection as well!
I don't know what the criws meant but I've seen such thing a migration of crowd in the night in Arizona everywhere looked like more than 300 maybe it waS just a bunch of them agree didn't know if it was more of a good or bad omen I was about 18yesrs old.. def resonate with that
