Official music video for Before The Morning Comes, the first track released on Lucassen & Soeterboek's Plan Nine album aptly named "The Long-Lost Songs".
As Robert and I sifted through our 30-year-old cassette tapes containing our demos, we stumbled upon a bluesy, unfinished piece featuring just my guitar and Robert's voice. I had completely forgotten about it, but felt it had the potential to be something special. I'm glad we pursued it, because it turned out to be one of the album's highlights!
Robert was actually quite ill when he recorded it, the raw pain in his voice is palpable, but that really works for this song.Given the positive reception from everyone we played the song for, we chose this track as the first single and the basis for our video clip.
The concept is straightforward: a sleazy, smoky bar with a band performing, surrounded by a crowd of utterly disinterested people, essentially ignoring the band. And what an exceptional band it is - I'm incredibly proud of these musicians! And yes, those are indeed Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jimi Hendrix posters on the wall - that's no coincidence!
    Hope you enjoy,Arjen and Robert

    Before the Morning Comes
Times are a-changing, nothing stays the same
We used to be lovers, used to share a name
Words have left me and tears are in vain
The days pass me by, I don’t even feel pain
Nowhere to hide, no place to go
Days getting darker, and the nights so cold
No will to fight, in a world without love
I will be gone, before the morning comes
Shadows in the darkness, a heart cold as ice
The roar of silence, echoes of lies
Rooms are empty, walls are closing in
No hope for the heartless, what a fool I’ve been
Nowhere to hide, no place to go
Days getting darker, and the nights so cold
No will to fight, in a world without love
I will be gone, before the morning comes
Nowhere to hide, no place to go
Days getting darker, and the nights so cold
No will to fight, in a world without love
I will be gone, before the morning comes
I will be gone, before the morning comes
No will to fight, I will be gone,
    before the morning comes

Arjen's brand new project - I love it. Great blues vibes and a phantastic guitar tone. I've already grabbed a ticket to see them live in June. Can't wait for the rest of the album.

Just picked this up from an internet search--------"The Long-Lost Songs’ is the result of this cooperation that features Arjen Lucassen and Robert Soeterbroek. Supported by icons of the Dutch rock scene, like Joost van den Broek on keyboards, Koen Herfst on drums and Epica’s Rob van der Loo on bass - the album is a 70s and 80s rock driven release that also features guitarist Marcel Singor and Irene Jansen, delivering some background vocals. The first song, done by this collective has been launched already and as mentioned is entitled ‘Before the Morning Comes’. It is a blues-driven rock ballad that shows the passionate commitment of musicians that all heading the same direction.

Great song, it’s actually from an unfinished demo they made when they worked together about 30 years ago. They finally finished it and released it with this amazing video. 🫶🤘
Btw did you recognize the bass player…. It’s Rob from Epica. 😉
