- This talk focuses on the power of determination, despite the hurdles one faces. For obstacles compel one to become independent and help build courage to go against the tide. It highlights how dreams can turn true if one stays true to their cause. The speaker shares her inspiring journey from the slums of Karachi to the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, the most prestigious business school of Pakistan.
Afreen Mushtaq is a sophomore at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. She is a National Talent Hunt Program (NTHP) Scholar, currently enrolled in the Bachelors of Business Administration degree program. She is the face of Pakistani society where women have the courage to bring about change. Afreen Mushtaq is a student at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. She is pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Business Administration. She is an IBA National Talent Hunt Program scholar that enables her to continue her education on a 100% scholarship. She graduated from an not-for-profit school. In 2015, her hard work and dedication led her to become a “school representative” and was sent to the USA. She finds herself indebted to the society for the hurdles it placed in her way. She believes that these hurdles played an important role in making her strong and independent because they compelled her to gather the courage to go against the tide. Her being rebellious towards the obstacles has now become a part of her. This thought inculcates in her a sense of giving back to the community.
Afreen is the face of Pakistani society today where women have the courage to bring about change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I usually have a habit of switching tabs while I'm on my laptop but today after a very long time, I actually stayed till the end without switching tabs or getting involved in any other task at hand. Yes..there are millions brave people out there,their story are almost the same, listening to afreen reminded me my early days where my story was more or less same.... starting from a very struggling times and headed to a very good life, alhmadulilah.... from a slum life to five star hotels in the heart of Manhattan, London, Toronto..
From hungry to well fed nights....
And I am thank full Allah, who provided this all...

when the video started I thought and planned to comment another elite class larki "Sonay ka chamach munh me le kar peda honay wali" lecture denay agai but as the talk proceeded I got knew I was wrong. She is Afreen and her way of expressing is awesome. I can hear it many times without getting bored. Hence proved IBA is IBA. They polish people. But she didnt tell whether she competed for Airforce or not ?
