@@40redfox40 old Darryl’s form of entertainment was breaking stuff messing stuff up or always taking way to long to get gravel or dirt or whatever ryan sends him to get so I wouldn’t say that’s much value in that when his entertainment just cost ryan a ton of money and jr was alright but ryan would just let him tag along cuz he liked it he didn’t actually do much and that’s not always realistic he also was always trying to spend Ryan’s money shopping for stuff witch I did think was pretty funny

I also think that you made a wise decision on the mechanic. I suggested that earlier as I am sure he will free Ryan up for his management duties, ie , estimates, editing, etc.
I suggested earlier that a fuel-gas pump on your premises would smooth out your operation greatly. You spend lots of time fueling your equipment at the gas station. You would save lots of money doing this and you could get a much better price on your gas and diesel by purchasing in bulk.

Good luck to you Luis! Watching Ryan and hearing how he started out and the tips he has for making it work could serve you very well. A lot of what I (and many) like about Ryan is he's reasonable, respectable, respectful and more than fair. Above all else, he's just a good human!
He doesn't quote the lowest price because he knows his work is worth what he quotes. I have no doubt that you are worth it too.
My daughter recently opened her own business - she's a dog handler/trainer. I'll put on my 'mom hat' and tell you what I told her (hope you don't mind, lol). A lot of what gets new businesses off the ground is good 'word of mouth' reviews. Go into a new job/quote with confidence and on time. When you do the job and treat people well, you will succeed. Small things like a smile, handshake and listening to your client goes a long way, especially now-a-days with everything being online and seemingly impersonal.
Best of luck to you as you step out on your own - I wish you every success and with hard work, I have complete faith you will succeed.

So happy Ryan hired this young guy and gave him a chance. Many to most of us in construction who started and successfully operated our own business started just like him. In 1976 I was 27, owned a 1967 Chev pickup, no lumber rack or tool boxes, just a nail belt, skill saw, a few basic form setting hand tools and a bucket of hand trowels. Rented a bull float, a jitter bug and went out to start my own concrete construction business. Sold my multi million dollar business in 2001 to my foreman who had been with me 15 years, carried a contract for him and retired. He paid the business off in just under 10 years and is still building his business even larger than it was when I sold it to him.

The Mechanic Nathan is really GOOD ..... Has a real "GO GETTER" attitude !!! (And he CAN talk in complete sentences, .... unlike half your crew, ... LOLOL Joke, kind of ...) Mike and Bugs are definitely the solid guys, that you CAN depend on, and also "show up ON TIME" !!!! That as a business owner is HUGE , especially these days .... GREAT welding job, tool boxes and mounting brackets !! Looking forward to see how you design the rear truck skirt, with new lighting, etc ...... hopefully the snow will STOP , at some point soon ....

CarPro Iron X will remove all of the iron particles aka industrial fallout in the paint. Very easy to use, basically like your washing the vehicle.

I said this in a previous episode but you should get a leather apron for the shop to wear while you're using the grinder Ryan. I worked with a guy who's grinder broke just like yours and a extremely small piece was flung into his chest and missed his heart by like half an inch and almost died from it. Better to be safe than sorry.

I once worked in the area of Rescue and one of My Rescue Team Leaders was under 20.
Usually that wasn’t a problem, but occasionally I’d get comments from older men who had difficulty Taking Orders from a Kid.
My response was always “I need him far more than I need you, so either get over it or take a walk”.
Most got over it, a few took the walk.
Those who stayed quickly learned just how knowledgeable and experienced that Kid was in Technical Rescue.

I am 45 today, where does the time go?! I've been hiring people for over 20 years and you seem a good judge of character although the first two weeks will speak volumes. Good on ya for not judging youth but keep in mind what you said, we all make mistakes. Ryan, Get the REWARS card at quick trip, it is WORTH it in the long run for the few seconds of annoyance using it each time! He seems great and will fit in, he's lucky he has a boss like you and he just don't know it yet but he will. If he works out in the short term maybe train him through Eric and Franny to keep him around, loyalty and dedication is hard to find these days!
