Hopefully not too helpful, because she demonstrated chaine turns incorrectly. They should be done in first. She mentioned first but then demonstrated them in second.
Pastel.Rivers Yes jazz is similar to ballet but what Brooke is trying to say that these aren't actually jazz turns but really bad ballet turns used for jazz.
Jazz is not similar to ballet. Ballet is done in turnout. Ballet dancers can do jazz well. Jazz dancers cannot do ballet well. In my opinion, jazz was restricted and aesthetically not nearly as beautiful or as difficult as ballet, so it started hijacking ballet moves.
In a soutenu your heal comes down after each one and your feet come together. Chaines you stay up on your toes and your feet don't come together. You basically go from first position into releve and keep your feet that distance apart as you turn. Soutenus your feet are in susu
This has been so helpful chains turns have been so difficult for me! Thank you!

JNK oh ok I see where you are coming from
Stop it with all the hate, people! Especially ballet dancers, what gives you the right to criticize so much? Open your minds, God!
The thing that drives me nuts about Hot To videos is that when they're covering a dance style the camera dude DOES NOT FOCUS on the persons legs.
dunno bout anyone else. but this helped.
i just learned that its spelled chaines and not shanaes
laci same
..so, seems you have no knowledge of french pronunciation.

These aren't "jazz dance turns"
They are ballet turns done incorrectly.

The fundament of jazz dance is ballet. Stop being the stereotypical stuck up dancer and keep your negativity to yourself
