    I wish they would've shown the whole process for the recessed lighting. The first two holes looked like easy access from the switch but how did they get the other two lights in without cutting/drilling all over that room?

    2-3 megabytes or 2-3 megabits?
    cause 1 megabyte is 8x faster than 1 megabit
    and the speed test measures in megabits.

    I needed to upgrade my old 16 volt transformer to a 24 volt transformer for my smart doorbell to work correctly.

    Trends aren’t always good
    Painting over good wood, in old homes, and trim and wall color matching, are perfect examples.

    Not all the wired doorbells will run off of the existing transformer or wiring. Too much draw. May need to replace the transformer and wiring

      I discovered this issue after installing my Ubiquiti G4 Doorbell Pro. I pulled new wire and purchased a higher rated transformer. Now I need to install it to see if it works with my mechanical doorbell chime. An unexpected lesson.

      Ubiquiti sells a POE Ethernet version. If you can get an Ethernet cable to your door (which can be iffy) you’ll get a much more reliable solution. I have one and it was pricey but works great.

      Yeh, I purchased the PoE adapter and pulled Cat6 cable to it (which was not an easy task), terminated the RJ-45 connector and connected it to the doorbell, but it's still not recognizing it as a wired device; only recognizing it as a wireless device. I've probably done something wrong. I've submitted a support ticket with Ubiquiti about it. Learning a lot through this process. 😉

    • @Noah-qt3rq
      @Noah-qt3rq 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's called an installer drill bit or flexible auger bit. They come in many lengths, 3' to 6' long, and are specifically for drilling holes inside of wall.

    The downside of battery models is that they're sometimes slow on the motion detection, and by slow I mean if it's a fast motion, it won't always be caught by the camera. There are also other ways to transmit data today too with a smart doorbell. There are models that transmit power and data over ethernet (POE) to a local base station that can hold your cameras data instead of using a microSD card or the cloud. This lessens a chance of your footage getting stolen and makes it so you're less likely to pay monthly fees to companies like Ring and Blink.

    Who does your research??? I have the Blink doorbell wireless and it came in a bundle with the SYNC Module 2 which you can put an external HDD to it using USB connecting or even a THUMB DRIVE... and get tons of video space.. I currently have a 4tb external SSD drive as it's storage... NO CLOUD NEEDED not monthly subscriptions.. just batteries which I have 4 and 2 in the charger at all time.. so quick in and out .. and it will tell you when battery is low...

    Talking about using the speedtest app to check signal is not a great way of putting it. The phone may have a terrible signal and still transfer at 100Mbps or so, but because its signal is low it will periodically disconnect. Use your phones wifi signal meter and stand there for a bit to ensure it stays strong. And if its less than half, its probably going to be a problem. The wifi chips in even the best doorbells are not great. Alternatively, hire a professional (av integrator or network professional) to consult and discuss options.

    And when those leds burn out? You replace one that then won't match the others? You replace all 4? You damage the dry wall pulling it out and now you have to paint? These LED lights are gonna seem like a really bad idea in just a few years.

    • @coreysuffield
      @coreysuffield 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Should last a long time.The LED driver\transformer was separate from the actual LED 'light' allowing for good airflow\cooling. the main problem that actual LED bulbs can have is they cram the driver\'transformer' in the bulb with the LED which can cause overheating issues and shorten the circuits lifespan while the actual LED light is still functional
      the most ideal thing would be to have a single oversized dedicated LED driver with a thermally controlled fan and just run low voltage to all the LED lights, this would save on running all that romex to each light

    • @GeorgeGraves
      @GeorgeGraves 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@coreysuffield That's only one issue. The main problem, and the real issue is that the manfactuers are overdriving the leds to save money. That's what's causes the leds themselves to fail. And when that happends, if not like you can go out and just buy a new "bulb" part of the light. It's all or nothing. So what I said still is correct.
