    This is awesome! It's remarkable how beautiful the rugs turn out. I wanted to make a rug but I was going about it all wrong. Thank you for this tutorial; I can't wait to make my own!

    Can you please make a video with a top view? I understand the braid but then I'm lost, on the turn. I crochet these right now and love the idea of doing it differently.

      My thoughts exactly. Top view is much needed, though I don't crochet.

    Once the mats have be finished have you ever tried partial fusing with an iron and parchment paper? I just started watching and you are amazing.
    When I try it I'm going to try the fusion to see what happen. Our store General Dollar has beautiful yellow bags. My head is spinning! Thank you for your video.

      I haven't tried fusing these, but I have fused some of my plastic bag crocheted creations to make pet feeding mats, and cat litter tracking mats. It helps to keep the mess to a minimum to have the backing. I would imagine it would make the rugs stiffer, but then they wouldn't be reversible.

    I’m wondering if you can use chunky yarn or fleece fabric and make a blanket using this method?

    Loved watched you making this plastic rug. You gave great and easy to follow instructions. I can't wait to try it. My friends are now going to want one. One question, are they going to be slippery to walk if it is raining or your shoes are wet?

    • @momeberhard5265
      @momeberhard5265  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really, as they are textured, and soft, so your feet go down a little when you step on them. I haven't slipped on them.

    Indent see extra braid added just the same four bags going around in a circle did I miss what you did to make it wider around?

    California makes us pay.10 cents a bag now and it's a higher quality of bag. And tougher than the older bags would they still work? Their not as flexible either. Yours looks so neat 👍😍👏❤️

      I have had some bags that are a little thicker when I make mine, and yes, they work. They also require you to grip a bit tighter to control the width of the braid, so your hands will get tired out quicker. You will have to take more breaks while doing it so you don't pull any wrist muscles.

    • @momeberhard5265
      @momeberhard5265  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about this a bit more, and another possibility is to cut the bags so instead of one big loop, you cut them in half and make two loops. That would still give you the thickness of the rugs, and you would be able to use the bags. It would be easier on your hands also.

      I think if you're paying for the bags they're expecting you to reuse them. You can always buy thinner cheaper trash bags at the dollar store for your rugs

    How many years have you been been making these rugs the plastic bags and the toothbrush rugs? You make itlook so easy and fun!

      +Karla Miller I have been making Toothbrush rugs for about 5 years now, and try to make at least a dozen or so a year. I have been making plastic bag rugs even longer, but until this year, I crocheted them, by using cut strips of them. Then my arthritis got the best of me, and I recently developed this way of using bags after watching a braid-in-braid rug video.

    Kay so tbh I skimmed this video but I somehow made a basket instead of a mat (which is fine by me) I think it must have been my tension was too tight?

    I’m wondering if this will work using thick yarn to make a blanket?

    • @momeberhard5265

      I don't see why it wouldn't. Look for directions on "in-braiding"

    Where do you get all your colors of bags.

    • @momeberhard5265
      @momeberhard5265  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everyone knows I collect bags, so if there is a colored bag out there, they bring them to me. Locally, there are three grocery stores that have white, brown and red bags. Pink came from Breast cancer awareness month. Some friends of mine about 100 miles away saves me blue. It is a combination of friendships. I always tease folks, that they used to bring me cookies and cakes, and now I get bags!

    When you accidentally rip a bag, you can use a piece of tape and still use it.
