  • Got this PAiA Oz mini organ at an auction a couple of weeks ago. I'm a PAiA guy from way back (think Gnome synthesizer, Phlanger, etc), so I had to jump at the chance to revisit my youth, in a synthy way. These things have started popping up on eBay for insane amounts of money (I got mine for a merely ridiculous amount). I had to do a little work to it to get playing like it should. There's still a thing or two that needs fixing, but it's good enough to present to you here. The coolest thing about the Oz is the pitch bend pad, as you will see at about 1:20 in.
The basic riff is set up via a TC Electronic DittoX4 looper. Spacial processing is through a Korg DRV 2000 reverb and Line 6 Echo Pro. This is also my first attempt at recording through my Samsung Galaxy, via a Zoom U24. Not too shabby, eh?
Things start out nice enough, but start going south pretty soon.

I remember seeing this advertised in Guitar Player and Contemporary Keyboard magazines in the’70s. I recall Paia suggesting it be paired with their Gnome synthesizer.

This is awesome! I just found a PAIA Oz in a giveaway pile on the street. Yours is 1 of 2 audio samples I could find before i got it working again! Considering getting a looper pedal for it, are you running it back through the Oz amp or an external one?

The amp isn't working. I haven't tried fixing it, as I run it through a mixer. I didn't pay much attention to it when it first came out. I should have!
