    Interesting idea. Have to give Ring credit for thinking of new ways to use the camera.

    This has just become available in the UK.
    It’s great that it fully integrates into an existing SuC, but I wish they had thought a little more about the power options, especially for those of us who use the battery & solar options on our outdoor cams. A POE option would have been great🤷‍♂️
    Hoping it won’t take long for the 3rd party market to come along with an external battery pack 👀🤓

    LIfeHackster, Another awesome product review. It is a nice "new" feature device by Ring which is trying to play catch up against other PT(Z) branded cameras, but I am not fully sold on this additional Ring P&T device. I purchased the Reolink E1 outdoor camera instead as it has autotracking and 5MP with zoom 5x.

    @4:01 That is clearly a design floor on Rings part. An intruder could literally unplug the power cable from the back of the camera to disable it. Ring are just making it easier and easier to defeat their cameras.

    I was hoping you were doing this review. It's a nice add-on. I agree with you that should add the tracking feature in the near future. It's cool. I have mine plugged in but for the area it is, I don't think I will need pan/tilt features. But's it's definitely nice add-on. Thanks for the review!

    Nice review. Thanks! You covered what one would hope. So what I'm about to write is not a criticism. One thing few reviewers cover is that the Ring software interface is not fully functional on desktop versions. I understand they once had an app for this, but now it is fully browser based. A lot of features are missing and support told me they have no plans to make the browser version more robust. Numerous things are missing from the browser version. E.g., you cannot control the pan & tilt from a browser, only from a cell phone. I sit at a computer most of the day with 3 screens. I use one screen to show all 4 of my cameras (in 4 browser windows) resized for one view. Of course, the screens refresh or go off every 10 minutes or so, and they must be manually refreshed. A mere click of a button does that, but it would be much better not to have to refresh so often. Once an hour, maybe. But every 10 minutes? Also, to pan or tilt, I must open the app on my phone and do it from there. Finally, resetting the home position of the P&T is not obvious, but is found in Device settings / General Settings / Home position (and can only be accessed on a phone.) I use a phone all the time; but I don't like this limitation TO the phones. Disappointing.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am assuming what you are trying to do with your Ring cameras is stream to your monitor for long periods of time. This is not what Ring cameras are designed for. They only record when they detect motion and give you a notification. They are not designed for streaming constantly in your phone or monitor. You might want to check out NVR wired systems and with this system, you can stream 24/7 on to your monitor.

      @@LifeHackster Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it, especially since you originally posted 11 long months ago! And I certainly don't dispute anything you have said. Nor am I complaining about your videos. I watched several of them before buying my setup. However, the more specific problem I am talking about is that I watched numerous reviews prior to buying 4 cameras and the pan & tilt, and not one (at least not that I remember) addressed the problem that the browser interface is far different and not fully functional compared to the phone, or that Ring was limited to 10 minutes at a time. I specifically asked Ring sales whether one could view on a desktop and was assured that I could. Of course, I did not know to ask whether the systems gave the same service. And no one gave a heads up about the online interface being so different. Ring certainly does not clearly warn about this: I had to find it out after all of my installs. It is too late for me to return the cameras now, hundreds of dollars later. So i am stuck with Ring. Again, I'm not complaining about your videos (they were great) and helpful. But I am hoping to raise a red flag for anyone interested in viewing on desktop. Thanks again.

    I think Ring creates the problems then sells you the solutions.. its always been a flawed product and then they sell you the "fix "and this biz model has worked well for them.
    i have 2 stick up came both wired and i wanted ring to create a PTZ and here it is.. Honestly i like its cool that its bends upward so you can see the sky at night for whatever reason. i think for auto tracking would be a easy future update and most likely would be only for subscribers to the ring plus. My impression is vs the competitions its a quick fix" to loosing sales to eufy and other ptz cameras with 2k resolutions , auto tracking and other features. Ring knew this and here is the quick fix to that share of the market., I think ill get one to play with it

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try to reprogram the routine. What I found reliable though is Ring Smart Lighting together with their cameras because it integrates on the app themselves. Another thing which should also work is just a separate motion floodlight or even those solar motion lights, they also work pretty good and get triggered every time they sense motion.

    I’m very curious if this will work with solar panels power

      @jklhopkins ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try the solar panels? I am trying to get mine set up with the solar panel but having some trouble since it wants you to push the reset button but when you remove the camera off the mount to do this there is no power. I am hoping someone can give me some guidance.

      @@jklhopkins no I didn't try it yet and I haven't seen anybody talk about making any attempt to do so also.. I should give it a try and see how it turns out

    I've tried Eufy, Wyze, Reolink, Ring and my Blue Iris POE custom system. Obviously ,the POE setup is the most reliable but in my experience Ring is 2nd as their infrastructure is way more reliable than the others. Eufy, Wyze, and Reolink are not reliable, their software is not reliable and their infrastructure is not reliable hence why they are the cheaper options IMO.

    Crap. Made a mistake buying this because I thought I could use the battery in my camera AND keep my solar panel connected to use it outside. Oh well. I'll figure out where to use this as I have multiple cameras. One first edition of the Stick Up cam doesn't work so well at night anymore. Might just replace it or relocate it. These newer cameras may simply work better with night vision now.

    So if power goes off in storm the ring battery camera is useless because battery is remove to mount Cam tilt and is power by outlet power instead of ring making shell of battery instead of solid Donny battery to insert in cam battery cameras so this way battery would insert in shell of Cam tilt and in case of power loss battery would keep camera to record and send video till power is back in other case one is wasting money to buy tilt cam with battery since battery is useless in these case
    I will hold off to buy tilt till they fix the battery cam tilt holder to dummy shell and insert the original battery for stock up cam battery to charge in power losss
    I hope other will write also so Ring would change their cam tilt sep battery camera
    Tks
