Not sure how a lot of people do it, but I could never be barefoot on the boat at any time, anchored, at a dock, or on the way, in additin to the trip hazzard of unmanaged lines. I've done this but with the midships cleat instead, which is not actually midship, but forward than half the boat, and keeps the bridle line shorter, but I leave one wrap on the winch and just feed the tail until I have built enough steerage, but gets dicey with wrong wind, and current.

You can trip on unmanaged lines while wearing shoes too, and the risk is greater since you can't feel them with shoes on. I've always sailed barefoot, the traction is better, the footing is more stable, and it is actually easier to avoid trip hazards because all your sense are in play. And it's just more comfortable.
There are a lot of ways to do bridle lines, depending on wind and current. In many cases the line can work midships instead of all the way up to the bow, or on the opposite side of the boat from the finger dock, say if the wind was coming from that side.

Looks complicated. I leave my bowlines at the dock. If it's windy I untie my stern line on the starboard side last and hop on the boat. It's the only line I keep on from home port. I have others on board for when I'm away.

I can't leave dock lines at the dock because I won't be coming back, at least not this season. I also don't have a seasonal dock.

Have you ever gotten a bumper caught between the 4 x 4 and the boat when you’re backing out or going forward it’s not pretty!!
