  • In this video we give a full review of the gazelle T4 hub tent overland edition after our two week trip to Colorado and Utah, where we camped every night in a different place, setting up and taking down the tent each day. What we found is that the tent was perfect for the trip we planed, plenty of space, easy to put up and take down, great ventilation, and easy to get in and out of and we really did not miss our roof top tent at all. Roof Top tents have their place as well and based on the trip and style of camping you do there are plenty of options to pick from. The opinions in the video are solely derived from our experience with the gazelle over two straight weeks of use and comparison to our experiences we have for the last five years in a roof top tent

I bought a T4 overland.. just did a week long trip with it.. absolutely love it..
    (1) the whole 90 second set up sales pitch is kinda misleading.. it’s fast, but you definitely need to stake it down or wind can definitely collapse it.. I know, because that happened to me ..
    (2) And you still have to move everything into it, and then out again.. that takes time. Not all that much time, no more than any other tent, but definitely more than 90 seconds to set up and strike
    (3) like they said, the T4 is hella big packed up.. I have a 2nd gen Tacoma short bed .. I carried above and across the truck bed by the rear windows.. it’s maybe a bit wider than than the bed.. and definitely too long to fit inside it. It’s also fairly heavy.. around 50lbs..
For me, I think the T4 overland is perfect if you want to stay in one location for a few days.. you can leave everything set up, go explore and return to camp.. you don’t have to strike the tent every time you want to move your vehicle.. it’s seriously roomy.. you can stand in it.. you could put some chairs and a table in it if it was raining. I’m happy with the purchase

I have the T-3 and use a cot to sleep in it, so comfortable and easy to get up at night

Its a great tent, I really love the easy setup and take down and you cant beat the space inside!

Thanks for this video. It sounds like there were really no actual negatives with the T4 … just comparing ground tents to rooftop tents.

Thanks for watching and I highly recommend the hub tent, the only downside to other ground tents is the space it takes up since it doesnt pack down, but the benefits you get from the setup and space inside i feel overcomes that especially with the venting and windows it really manages moisture well which is a huge positive

Can I ask you a question?
Packed up size, speed of set up army that important to me. I plan to stay in one place from 5 to 10 days at a time. My concern is the door.
I plan on having a cooler, small table, a cot and at night my lectric v3 bike inside. Even cooking if it’s raining.
Do you think you can get a cooler and a bike through that door ok?
    Thanks for any feed back

I would say yes on the cooler with no issue through the door, space wise you could also get the bike in, but navigating it through the door might be cumbersome, with the triangle fashion of the doorway even when tied back the bike would have to be lifted in and out and the taper of the triangle may be an obstacle for the handle bars, if thats your camping plan, if i were you i would get the T4 plus, the screened vestibule would be the perfect spot for cooler, cooking, and your bike and not impact your sleeping space. Just my thoughts thanks for the question and for checking out the channel.

Thanks for this review. Are you storing the tent on top of your JLU while underway? Seems like it won't fit inside the cabin.

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes storing it on the racks up top because i have a full custom drawer set up in the jeep, if the back is open it will fit with a seat down, thanks for checking out the channel

Great timing . I'm at the T3 vs iKamper BD Duo decision time. My prob is my Aluminum Cap on pickup wont support 500 lbs. The weight of RTT and people and mounting rack will be close to 500# ? So your review came at a great time for me. More opinions to think about. So new cap / racks to carry the 500# or just a T3 . Review was Great and fair. Thank you !!

Man o man, roof top tent's are a headache. All my friends have sold there rooftops, mattress are extremely uncomfortable. Having to pee in the middle of the night is completely challenging. Having to take the rooftop off your car is a complete dealbreaker. Stay away from rooftop tents, buy a regular simple tent..keep it simple and less is more enjoyable.

No doubt all good points, i have enjoyed using both and Depending on what and how you use your vehicle they have both advantages and disadvantages, thanks for the comment and for checking out the channel
