I'm dangerously close to an addiction, where I sit at my computer all day and night, refreshing the TH-cam page while desperately awaiting the next Motorcycle Travel Channel video. I need my fix!
I took a 3 month solo motorbike trip from Nova Scotia to California and back in the summer of 2018 in my BMW S1000RR. I ordered custom luggage bags from Germany, changed the seat to a sergeant seat, packed in my camping gear and off I went. had never done anything like that before. It was the absolute best adventure I had ever been on. The s1000rr held up excellently, i stuck mostly to paved back roads, but there were times I found myself on gravel roads (not ideal for the s1000rr). I would take a break every 200 kms when I would fill up with gas, and the only part of my body that would get uncomfortable would be my bum after 2-3 hours riding, but a break would sort it out. Can't wait to do something similar again, but next time I will do it on an adventure bike, although I must say it's great fun riding the s1000rr. People couldn't believe I came from Nova Scotia on a sportsbike when they would meet me in mid and western america!
This guy is awesome. Very personable and real. I am a BMW motorcycle guy for life. I am enjoying his content. He is very relatable to the everyday guy. Please more content.
Really appreciate that you make a point of mentioning that one doesn't have to always ride like your pants are on fire to enjoy a trip. So many blogs are only focused on blasting through an area as fast as possible and they're missing the point imho. Smooth trails to you...
Great music, smart packing, well organized…of course interesting motorcycle journeys. Already registered. Thanks for making TH-cam more entertaining but productive
Hi Sterling I’m a rider from Colombia South America I really enjoy your channel and the way you tell us and shows your vision of the ride and shooting I’m photographer and I want to tell you have a really good way to put us on your shoes, thanks for sharing with us your vision and your beautiful country I hope one day have the opportunity to meet you, cheers from Colombia
Thank you so much! I had a great time riding through Columbia about five years ago. There are some videos on my channel about that. Look for the series called Expedition 65.
Love my Australian merino wool undergarments and socks. They are a real game changer, a true revelation. Planning on getting some merino shirts soon too. I have bamboo shirts which perform a similar function but aren’t as good when wet. Love both of these natural and renewable fibres which are also great for the environment. I also use the TKC70 ROCKS rear tyre and apart from wearing a bit faster than I like, they’re an incredibly good tyre. Excellent on and off road, wet or dry. Thanks for sharing your journey, it’s so easy to enjoy your cinematic productions and clearly that’s a credit to your talent.
Thank you again for giving great encouragement to get and do the thing. Alway enjoy your videos, and even the work with the BDR series. Looking forward to much more.
Solo Riding...I think this is the answer for guys like me who also have a "calling" for adventure but don't necessarily have other riders to take these trips with (bike limitations, vacation time, money). Thanks for detailing your travels and sharing...really helping others with the same passions who have yet to fully execute these rides. Stirs the soul!!
Thats one of the little rewards about riding solo that actually can be a big thing - not having to coordinate with other people's schedules etc.... just go when you can or want to!
Christoff…I have the same problem. I want to adv ride something big! Planning for solo as well. Most people talk game but bail 3% of the way. Hit me up and let’s ride a BDR!
Sterling…I watched the all your BDR movies, truly inspiring. Your description of what you are looking for and the ideas from your experience really help speed me along. I literally gain experience through your travels and excellent production.
Amazing! I've ridden down there before, but you found things I haven't seen. Need to come back to your hotel, and ride down there again. Thank you Sterling!
So glad somebody referred me to your journey. When Itchy Boots finished her mega trip, I had nothing to watch. You are in my back yard right now and I have been to most of these places by car or Jeep and most of the paved road sections via motorcycle. As a relatively new drone operator, I really admire your skill with the drone, your GoPros, and your video camera shots. I can't imagine how much stop and start that takes while getting from A to B. As somebody mentioned below, now my day is not complete until I get my AZ to BC fix. Thanks for the great video travel log.
Having just purchased a dual sport bike I was interested to watch this. I also live in BC which made it more enticing. But when I saw you were from Bisbee, I really got excited because I'm a fan of Doug Stanhope who also lives in Bisbee. Can't wait to see every minute of your epic adventure!!
Sterling, I have been watching your videos for years now and I can honestly say that they lift my spirits, inspire me and educate me! Absolutely the best! Can’t wait to get out on my ATAS.
Sterling, it was awesome to stay at the Jonquil and spend some time chatting with you and Eva. I wish I could’ve stayed for maradi gras and celebrated a bit … I will be back for another stay and maybe with a dual sport to explore the area with. Thanks for signing the pannier lid and you keep on inspiring riders with every vid. Love both of you!
Thanks for the all the awesome and inspiring videos you make! Would you consider making a playlist with the music you put in these videos? It’s always so awesome! Perfect to use it for (long) rides! Thanks!
Looking forward to joining you on this journey, I’m already hooked! Thanks for sharing info on the kit you’re using which is always interesting and useful to those of us dreaming of doing the same…. Ride safe 😊

Danke Sterling, so good to see you on (and off) the road again. You are living in a great country for this kind of motorcycle adventure and you’re doing an excellent job as a videographer. Thanks again and always be safe!
I like that you're already providing content, even though you're not far from home! It's easy to get caught up in the mindset of "when I get to , I'll start filming, because that's what everyone wants to see", which often just isn't the case. It's the story of your journey that is enjoyable for those of us following! Thanks for another great episode!
I travel on a BMW K1600, but seeing where you go and your videos so beautifully produced, I think I miss a lot sticking to paved roads. I’m also an experienced off-road rider (thanks Dad!) and my brother rides a GS 1200, so I’m seeing a GS in my future 🤩
I can tell by the future snippets that I’m really going to enjoy this series. In fairness, I’ve enjoyed them all. Now I’ll patiently wait for my next fix.

In the winter we went to shows, Flat Track Races inside and the like to pass the time til race season. I loved that Movie!!! "Yamaha.... A Piano Company.... I don't think you'll see much from them moving forward"! CLASSIC!!! ;-)

I love the blend of riding, camping and photography / videography (including the drone videography) - exactly what I aspire to do! 👍👍
There's not a lot of planning in this type of filming and I do the best I can but sometimes I just don't have the energy to craft a really pleasing "goodbye and thank you for watching" ending so I do what I can.
