      You also forgot about Iron, protein, vitamin D3, and iodine. If you are low in any of these, it can affect your endocrine system, reproductive hormones, etc. Hormonal acne is unique to each individual and can't be solved with the same thing for everyone.

      @@ScarletBrimstone Thanks for the recommedation, but like I've said, I tried it all, I take vitamin D drops daily, also iron, 'cause I was anemic, which I am not anymore. I really don't know why I'm breaking out, wish I could point my finger at something, I do have slightly high testosterone, though.

    • @ScarletBrimstone
      @ScarletBrimstone ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andjelabacic5186 long term stress can cause that. I didn't get hormonal acne until I had my kids. It's not as bad anymore, but I had half my thyroid removed and continue to be slightly anemic, too. I'm still trying to find a way to get rid of my acne, but not much progress. It did get better after switching to iodized salt tho.

    Many times, androgens are driven by high levels of insulin. Insulin is a hormone and when it is high it drives androgens crazy. Checking your fasting insulin levels and insulin levels during a 3 hour oral glucose tolerance test will help to see if high insulin is actually the culprit, and the real cause of high testosterone and androgens.

    • @MichelleLathrom
      @MichelleLathrom 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@palestar828 yes. In the case of high androgens, it’s high insulin levels that drive the androgens to be high. Insulin is driven by sugar. Both real and fake sugar. Fake sugar only works for type 1 diabetics who don’t make their own insulin. So switching to sugar free stuff doesn’t help.

    •Absence of a menstrual period.
    •Congestive heart failure.
    •Decreased sexual interest (libido)
    •Erectile dysfunction.
    •Excess fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
    •Fluid and sodium retention.
    •Headache.
    •High blood pressure (hypertension)

    Thanks for sharing Madison : ) I can relate to those facts cos I’ve a background in Biomedical Science. However, I’m intolerance to all kinds of nuts, minty food items, dairy pdts, flour, seafood… But I’ll try taking licorice tea. I’m 47 and till today, I have seasons of cystic acne breakouts scattered all over my face. And I’ve never taken birth control pills. In 2011, on a scale of 1-5, I had class 3 severe cystic acne breakout and I went for an antibiotic jab (> SGD 1K) with a very renowned aesthetic doctor. Had around ten jabs on my face. It was so bloody. But the very next day, my skin improved by 85%. And I guess that breakout remained dormant till 2018 after which breakouts re-occurred. With all efforts failed and money wasted, in 2019, I decided to go for deep acne treatment (close to SGD 3K) at a facial spa (cos doctors now discourage antibiotic jabs). My skin improved and cleared within 3 months. This year, 2020, it broke out again two months ago. As I don’t have the financial liberty this round, and being very desperate, I decided to go for the home-made “cucumber+lemon juice and rose water” facial mask. Soaked cotton pads in them then “pasted” all over my face. Just to add value, cut thin slices of cucumber and placed over my tired eyes. I do this every night. Also regularly exfoliated my skin very, very gently. Thank God, I could see progress. Those existing painful acne bumps either shrunk or ripen real fast. Those about to develop disappear within the next few days. And my pores really shrunk. My skin appear dewier now with water-based moisturiser. And the best part is, my skin appear bright and dewy overall so much so that for the first time in my entire adulthood, I feel so confident without foundation. Though there are still cystic acne bumps on my forehead, cheeks, nose and around the mouth, my face appears clear and evenly toned generally with just compact powder. I think people are more drawn to the dewy skin than the acne. And my eyes look much fresher and attractive now!

    Basically, medication are temporary because they’re synthethic like what i heard from a general practicioner health care provider. Question, if you’re on an oral antibiotic/birth control for acne is there a synergistic that will happen when will you consume healthy foods as well? Because antibiotics kills the good bacteria in your gut as well as the bad bacteria according to a research paper. I just want to clarify this one. Anyways love ur content xx

      I got an iud and my skin flared up. When I mentioned that it may be my iud my drs. Dismissed me saying bc doesn’t cause acne. But I stood my ground and had them remove it. It was actually lost lol spent 3 hours in there and the pain was worse than childbirth I swear!!!! So I’m working on rebalancing my hormones and my flare ups are much more manageable. It takes time. I want to get a hormone level blood test so I can know exactly what’s imbalanced. It’s just quite pricey.

    I've been suffering with hormonal acne for the past 5 years. I decided to stop taking birth control 3 months ago, I thought that my face was going to look just as it did before I started taking the pill BUT it didn't. I still have cystic acne but I swear it's not that bad anymore, I only get 2/3 huge pimples. I still haven't control my period but I think the main reason why my cystic acne is way more better is that I became a vegetarian 9 months ago and it's been a month since I last eat dairy and sugar. That DEFINITELY helped me to regularize my hormones.

    This video is great. I do that same thing and and up researching all of the time. Just curious if while pursuing your Tripathy degree did you do any studies on hyperpigmentation and reducing the production of melanin during the healing process. I suffer from adult acne and while I only get a few bumps a month, regardless of if I leave them alone or damage the surface layer of skin in the process of clearing the pores, I experience dark marks that last for months to years. I would love to know proactive measures to prevent this from happening if any exist.

    This is going to sound insane, but if you have any advice I would appreciate it so much. Taking flaxseed actually caused my cystic acne. I didn't realize what it was about it initially (it was the phytoestrogens), so I tried to balance my hormones that were off due to the flaxseed, by seed cycling. This made everything a million times worse. After ruining my face by sending myself into a phytoestrogen overload, I became almost allergic to anything with phytoestrogens. If I eat anything with them now, I breakout all over with cystic acne. I have been going through this for almost 3 years. I can basically only eat fruits, veggies, grassfed beef, salmon, pasta, and avocado oil. I'm literally going crazy. Anytime I slip up, I breakout horribly. My doctor has no idea how to help me other than birth control and accutane and I'm not willing to go on those medications. She tested my testosterone and thyroid and both came back "normal." Testosterone was at 31 if I remember correctly, with the high range being 45. Sorry this rant was so long, I'm just at a loss at what to do:(

    • @MadisonDohnt
      @MadisonDohnt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh really? Well everyone is different and has different intolerances so thats okay. I'm glad you've worked it out though. That still sounds like a great and satisfying diet! It's basically how I eat already. Everyone needs to manage their acne through diet somehow. What's wrong with just avoiding the foods that break you out? My tip is to try and find treats that don't break you out so you don't feel deprived :)

      @ariana8159 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MadisonDohnt thank you so much. You're right. The worst is not being able to go out to eat or have any type of convenience foods EVER. I cant even have olive oil or garlic without a reaction. I had cystic acne last year. I cleaned my diet ,took shatavari tablets and gandhak rasayan and my face was clean in 2 months. Now at this time I am again dealing with cystic acne and I have started using them again and I hope it will work again. These are ayurvedic medicines and don't have any side effects. Diet and lifestyle is the most important . I know that last 2 months I was waking up all night and I was eating everything (no healthy diet, although everything was home cooked but still I did overeat and had sugar daily as sweets and desserts) so here I am now with my face and neck filled with acne. Now I am trying to be on track again. You should also try ayurveda it works and if you are dealing with it since years ,then you must try it.

      @Ariana your post is a year old so I hope you see this, have you tried fermented foods? Like sauerkraut, kimchi, sriracha, etc...? You can make these easily at home and they have all that really good gut health bacteria. Maybe it’s possible if you heal your gut it might lessen reactions when you slip up as you say. I’m no doc or expert by any means, but it might help. And if it doesn’t it’s really good for you any way.

    The hormonal acne is caused due to body not able able to generate the right hormones at right time. So this can be fixed by sleeping and waking up at the same time everyday. Sleep at 10:30 and wake up at 7:00 everyday, then expose urself to 30 mins sun in morning so body will know its become morning. So this is a simple fix.

      Thank you so much! Did a naturopath tell you to start taking vitex or did you just do so because you saw someone else do it in their acne story video? I've been looking at vitex for a while now and each supplement does a different job so you have to make sure you are taking the right one for YOUR hormone levels or get a gentler more generic one like the Femmebalance I did a video on :) Also, saliva tests are more accurate than bloodwork - sometimes they can come back all fine when you know for a fact they're not. I find that I break out the worst two weeks before my cycle starts (occasionally the week after I finish) ~ is this still related to testosterone levels increasing? Awww Thank you so much Kalee! Just before you menstruate your hormones drop (I explain it more in this video th-cam.com/video/3i4I7D1Yt-8/w-d-xo.html) which can cause your skin to freak out sometimes. In terms of the blood test, they are not the best at accurately measuring hormones and also because everyone is so different the "normal" range has to be quite large to consider everyones differences so a low-normal or high-normal could still mean lower or higher than what is right for your personally. The saliva tests are more expensive but they will be a lot clearer :) xx

    I have already done several blood tests a few years ago on testosterone and i have too much of it. But that's weird because while one week when i didn't have acne on my face, I still had too high testosterone. Also I was at the limit of exceeding DHEA. Maybe that hormone makes a difference too in acne !
    Perhaps when i have too high DHEA I start to have acne breakouts.
