The art work is STUNNING in these books. Even if you don’t play this game, it seems like the lore , the creature, & scenarios would be fantastic for converting to Call of Cthulhu, to give players a creepy sense of dread, due to the unknown. Thanks for the great video!
Interestingly enough, I have heard of people also playing CoC scenarios with the Vaesen rules set. I haven’t tried that, I liked the idea at first but then I thought it would take away the essence behind CoC- but it all depends on what the group wants.
@@craigdesilva Yes I agree, it may take away from The feel of Call of Cthulhu if using Vaesen Rule set. I think it would be interesting converting the monsters & scenarios to CoC Rules. Cheers!
One of these days we would love to hear you talking about the rules you like from any system, any genre and any edition. We always love and appreciate your point of view and experiences you share. As for this impression of Vaesen , Well done! Thanks for taking the time to look into their game. Good to see folks sending you products, we definitely appreciate your reviews. Be blessed in all you put your hand to - Frederick & Jennifer
Thanks for this. I just seen this and wanted to know more. They also have dice sets, card decks and gm screen/map. hope you can review these as well. Great as always thanks Dave!
Great review of a great game. If you are looking to check out free league's other games I suggest looking into the fantasy game "Forbidden Lands" it like almost all of their games use the "Year Zero" or d6 system but modified for the setting, it is a new game inspired by the OSR movement and with the feel of a more old school game. And again, top marks for your prononciation of the word "Vaesen"!
Looks good, especially the quality of the physical books. Wouldn't mind giving this one a try, most games don't really seem to 'get' fey, but this looks like the real deal. Be well and stay safe!
I backed this on KS and i was not dissapointed. D&D products seem very cheap in comparison to these. They have a new version of 'the one ring' on kickstarter now and that looks great too.

Been waiting for this one! Loved your take on this game. Definitely picking it up. Their PR department did a good job sending you this.
Love your new game reviews. I'm going to have to check this one out.

Free league really puts out top notch products
I made sure to let Free League Publishing know that I bought Vaesen because of your impressions.
Thank you very much. I appreciate that!
@@DravenSwiftbow gotta pass on the love. You put in a lot of effort here and it’s appreciated, Dave.

My copy got here and WOW the quality of this book is amazing.

very interested in a deeper dive!... Or maybe not, i think im just gonna buy the book ha.
Definitely has vibes of call of cthulhu meets tales of the loop
This is currently sold by Humble Bundle in a Bundle for around 16$
Definitely will look into this rpg.
Great review/intro. As usual.
Very John Bauer-esque color scheme on the cover.
I'd be curious what you think of this game system over the gum shoe system.
I agree. This sounds like a Modern "Witcher", or even a take on "Constantine"
EDIT: Or "Grimm"
My copy of Vaesen finally arrived. After seeing your video and some friends in my gaming group talking it up, I decided to take the plunge.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!
Great video as always! How would you compare it to Call of Cthulhu?
